Understandable but I can say compared to most SRPGs the FE are among the most accessible. It mostly boils down to where you place your characters and the skills or weapons you give them.
@chadouken if you’re willing to try an SRPG and have a 3DS/2DS id recommend the Project X Zone games. They’re the spiritual successor to the Japan only Namco x Capcom SRPG.
It’s got characters from
Fire Emblem
Xenosaga
Tekken
Mega Man X
Virtua Fighter
Shinobi
Strider
Dark stalkers
God Eater
Street Fighter
Space Channel 5
Resident Evil
Devil May Cry
Sakura Wars
Phoenix Wright
Tales of Vesperia
Dot.Hack
Tons of others I’m likely forgetting too. I’d definitely recommend 2 over 1. It’s infinitely better imo. You can find either of them for under $15.
The best.
Bible black not a bad jrpg either.
Ninty is making me feel like a genuine Gerudo right now with this General Direct drought.
Has anyone here used the Joycons that have proper d-pads? I haven’t used my switch as a handheld for a while because all the games I been playing on switch lately has been 2D. Are the d-pads in the hori joy cons any good?
Yes and no. They are better then the alternative buttons on the standard joy con but not as accurate as a proper D pad on a normal controller.
Works great if you aren’t trying for elite movement or inputs, so if you are a casual like myself and family no issues besides the battery drain.
I’m so casual I just play 2d games with the thumb stick.
How to I break this down.
I know I do a tier list of Joycon D-pads from Worst to Best. This is my opinion after trying each one out.
This is just for the D-pad, not the whole controller. And this is options you can go out and buy, so no compex mods like they guy who did his own Joycons out of a Gamecube Wavebird controller.
Shit tier- Nintendo’s Joycon Lack of D-pads
Okay Tier - Aftermarket Joycon shells that include an actual d-pad
Good Tier - Hori’s Left Joycon
God Tier - Hori Split Pad Pro
The Hori Left Joycon D-pad feels lot like a GBA D-pad in terms of size and feel.
The Hori Split Pad Pro is like if Someone cut a Nintendo Switch Pro-controller in Half and made them into Joycons. And is probably your best bet for portable play.
Honorable mention, Setting up your Switch tablet on it’s kickstand (or in a actual stand if your using a OTG adapter) and use a 8bitdo controller or a Switch SNES Controller.
There also some unlicensed 3rd party Joycons that come with a D-pad now that also support bluetooth, including a set that looks GameCube themed.
I looked up the split pad and it looks great. Though I been reading that it drains battery from the console. That’s a dealbreaker for me. I might have to pass on them.
All Joycons drains battery from the console, even the official Nintendo Joycons.
And mine don’t effect the battery life any differently than the stock Joycons.
Stock Joycons has an internal battery of it’s own so the drain isn’t severe. From what I been reading the split pad drawing all its power from the console. That’s no good.
I second the 8Bitdo controller method. Not practical for a car ride, but if you have a flat surface then this is your best bet for comfort on the go. And you can also use it while docked.
The Stock Joycons stop using their own batteries when they are connected to the Switch tablet.
All Joycons turn off the battery power switch directly to the Tablet’s power when in portable mode.
And if that Joycon battery is low, it draw more power to charge the battery as its already being powered from the tablet.
And the drain from the Hori Split pad pro is not very noticable for the life of the battery.
Was able to score the last copy of Bloodstained in my area from Gamestop since it seems it got delisted from the website. I got some car work inbound so that going to hold me over nicely at the dealership. Any suggested cases for the switch/game holders that you guys recommend?
For basic travel this one is solid

I actually prefer the way Nintendo did the dpad on the joy cons to pretty much every dual shock dpad ever. I don’t know how people play fighting games that require diagonals on those things without destroying their hands.
So I just discovered BSoD Gaming YT Channel and holy jesus!!
I don’t know if I can use the EMU-word here, but wow the the information and tips that he has shared!!
Emu word?
Emulation?
Probably late to post this, but I’m excited.
