Super Mario Maker 2: Oh no no no, mane. You got levels to make.
Me: In Dunkey voice OK…

speaking of the annual January direct … do we want to open a pool or something just for fun in order to guess the date?

Generally speaking the Q1 direct usually falls anywhere between mid-to-late January.

While Nintendo has announced some games for this year they either don’t have release dates or they’re multi-plat. The only Exclusives we have release dates for are

  • Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore (1/17)
  • Animal Crossing: New Horizons (3/20)
  • Trials of Mana (4/24)

I honestly feel like they will give Animal Crossing it’s own direct in late February since it’s such an anticipated title.

Other games and other products that have been announced but don’t have release dates

  • Panzer Dragoon Remake (This is rumored to be a timed exclusive but hasn’t been confirmed as such)
  • SMT 5
  • Persona 5 Scramble
  • Bravely Default II
  • Deadly Premonition 2
  • Bayo 3
  • Metroid Prime 4
  • No More Heroes 3
  • SamSho 2019 (Multi-Plat but worth mentioning)
  • Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive
  • Untitled Zelda/Breath of the Wild Sequel
  • MUA3 Fantastic Four DLC
  • Smash Ultimate DLC Character 5
  • Smash Ultimate DLC Pass 2 Character 1

Who knows what else they have planned?

Nintendo always likes to drop an unannounced bomb or two during their directs. Especially right at the end of them.

SamSho is scheduled to come out late Feb from what I’ve seen

All SNK has said is Q1. Nintendo posted a “release window” video about a month or so ago stating as such.

So I’ve been sinking my teeth into Bayonetta 2. Goddamn. That game is legit. Tons of fun and a nice difficulty curve. The character herself is also one of my new favorites. I love everything about her. Mostly her ass though.

The Switch has surpassed the SNES’s life time sales.

Over the holiday season the Switch’s total units sold reached 49.79m units. The SNES’s lifetime sales sit at 49.10m units.

No new Nintendo Switch games for me this January since I went overboard with my spendings because of the holiday. Good thing Persona 5 Scramble is set for February so I still can get that upgraded nerf bars that I need for my pickup.

No news on SMT5 irks me. It’s one of the earliest games announced for the switch. We could have gotten screenshot of it by now. It’s why I hate it when companies announce games when they are still in early development.

If it helps, Atlus said they were going to be announcing a shit ton of info about SMT V this year.

It helps, but still kinda in “fuck Atlus” mode regardless when it comes to SMTV. They’ve dragged their feet on it for so long most people have forgotten it was even announced. I love Atlus, but announcing SMTV when they did was a big mistake. We have more info on the Persona directors cut and Musou spin off then we do SMTV. Silly Atlus. Just silly.

Gotta get all the blood from the P5 Stone they can before moving on to something else.

As long as it doesn’t turn into a Last Guardian or Duke Nukem Forever situation I think it’ll be okay.

I’m prob one of the few people that don’t mind knowing of a game’s existence early. Just don’t give me false hope on it with a release date/window if you truly don’t have an idea of when it’s coming.

Well and a truth of the matter is what I was talking Martian about Metroid. SMT doesn’t have the pull Persona does, so they aren’t really obligated to give it as much attention. Just the truth of the matter.

And Metroid doesn’t have the pull it’s fans thinks it has. Which is why it took so long to get Prime 4.

It’s weird seeing persona blow up after 4 though. Like P3 was really well received but it got a lot more eyes on it after the Vita Port because of the success of 4.

At least that’s how it came across to me.

Odd as it sounds P4G really seemed to revilatize that brand pretty hard.
