The Nintendo Switch Thread! - Deadly Premonition 2: Blessing in Disguise 7/10 - Paper Mario: The Origami King 7/17

I do appreciate that SNK has been so friendly with Nintendo. With all the amazing NeoGeo Ports (Still salty about none of them having online play tho), SamSho 2019 coming out next year, Terry in Smash and the small treasure trove of music they let them use in Smash.

That’s the good shit.

I always find it weird how awkwardly cautious developers are around Nintendo. They either want nothing to do with them or will bend over backwards to partner with them.

So three months after the fact Nintendo is finally adding new games to the NSO NES and SNES apps. Two games for the NES App and four games for the SNES App.

While all stellar additions its feels like way too little for how long the wait period was between updates. I’m not saying a dump trunk of titles need to be added but more than fucking six after three months of nothing. Especially after several people, myself included reupped or subscribed to NSO to play games on these apps.

Didn’t Nintendo said themselves they are no longer have a development cycle for SNES and NES games for NSO.

“More NES games will be added in the future, but those releases will not adhere to a regular schedule,” a Nintendo representative told Business Insider in an email this week. Unfortunately, the same thing applies to Super Nintendo games. “More Super NES games will be added after launch, but those releases will not adhere to a regular schedule,” the representative said.

I’m aware of that. I was the one who originally posted that article.

I bought a year when it first came out and was gifted a year through being a TwitchPrime member (which I didn’t even know I was until amazon sent me an email about it).

When retro console apps is pretty much the defining selling point of your online service you should constantly try to improve and add to it to make the subscription more alluring. Which for a while they were doing. But once they got their numbers up from resubs and people subscribing to play the SNES app all communication stopped. That’s a bad look.

People asking for more content isn’t being entitled. Especially after such a dry spell of nothing. It’s people wanting to make their money they’ve invested is worth it. Not just gunna go “no. I want to keep paying money for the same content and not get anything new ever.” If you say otherwise you’re a liar.

Why do you think Xbox one sales have been so low? Lack of content. Why do you think Wii U sales was so low? Outside of horrible marketing it didn’t really have a lot of content outside of 1st party titles. Why do you think PS4 and the Switch are killing it this generation? Cause they’re constantly improving and adding stuff to their platform to make it worth it investing into them.

NSO has been the Switch’s glaring and most obvious issue from jump. Most the games that need cloud saves NSO doesn’t support. Online chat is done through a terrible phone app. Net play is incredibly hit and miss. Outside of the retro apps and Tetris 99 what perks are there to having NSO? Stuff we have the “privilege” to buy like retro app controllers?

“BuT iT coStS lEsS sO iT dOeSnT nEeD aLl ThOsE fEaTuReS” is a fucking awful excuse.

I’m not mad about the additions. I’m mad about the lack of support it’s obvious best features are getting.

This sounds like denial of being in an abusive relationship.

We are lucky its only 3 Months and not 6.

True it is.

They aren’t going to. I think more people signed up for NSO because of Pokemon than any other reason, More so than Splatoon. Nintendo got no reason to improve.

Hence why I get my SNES and NES fix from Flash Carts like the Everdrive and not the Switch.

The Hell, you did a backwards time travel quote to my last post?
Oh I see you did an edit.

That is how I see most Xbox players.
But I feel Nintendo is on the same road, as they have little in real competition as they are right now nothing like Sony and Microsoft’s offerings so the Switch can’t even be properly compared to the PS4 and Xbox One.

Yeah he got me with that earlier, too, lol. I was confused :joy:

There’s also a 9.1.0 update out that does nothing but “stability fixes”

Witcher 3 related free to download DLC for Daemon X Machina is also available

Edit: wow. There’s a lot of DLC for DxM.

Do they rotate games in and out of the NES and SNES NSO subscription or once it gets added, it’s permanently in the available library?

Also anyone got any thoughts on Fate Extella and Fate Extella Link on the Switch?
It’s on sale for me til the 12th. I was thinking of scooping up Extella for half price just for the sake of having a Fate game. Then I discovered Extella Link (is this just a an expansion/rerelease like usfiv??) which was pretty much going to double my purchase cost so now I’m on the fence lol

I really wish DxM DLC was available outside of Japan. I really want the Code Geass and E7 one lol

Once they’re added they’re added. They do not get rotated out.

Dang, anime Ciri? Hot.

How is the game now? I heard it’s been getting a lot of updates.

I have Fate Extella on my PSP and it’s Dynasty Warriors but with Fate characters and looooooooooooooooong as fuck cutscenes. It was kinda fun but I didn’t play very long. I should give it another shot. If probably be more easily.onvested of it was the Stay Night characters instead of the Extra/CCC/Extella characters.

I don’t know anything about Extella Link tho, sorry.

Not yet anyways.
Since the games there are part of a subscription service Nintendo has that option.

Meant to post this a while ago but couldn’t find the YouTube channel. Then a video from the channel showed up in my recommendations.

EDIT: Actually this channel has permission from the creator to dub the comics.

So Smash Ultimate is gonna be a year old. Man, the first year for the game was nuts. I spent two days unlocking the roster and didn’t mind doing it. That was a true sense of pride and accomplishment.

What did you guys think of Worls of Light? Yeah, it felt like Event Mode on steroids but I really got a lot of fun out of it, even if some fights (Geno, Yarn Yoshi, Jeff) made me want to punch a hole in my wall. I know some people say Subspace from Brawl had the better story mode and I loved those cut scenes but that’s the thing I remember most about Subspace; the cut scenes. Would it have been awesome to get more cut scenes like that in Ultimate? Absolutely. However I’m a gameplay over cut scenes guy any day of the week so if more time went into making Ultimate play like the fantastic game that it does, I think Sakurai made the right call.

So here are my dumb shots in the dark about the Nintendo announcements that may be at the game awards next Thursday.

Release date and info for next MUA3: The Black Order DLC.

Metroid Prime Trilogy HD Collection
Metroid Prime 4 News

Bayo 3 News

Reveal and release date of the last character of Smash Ultimates Fighter Pass 1. Maybe announce first character of Fighter Pass 2 directly after that.

Personal 5 Scramble Release Date

Brand New Game

Huge shots in the dark

Twilight Princess/Wind Waker HD 2-pack Collection

Skyward Sword HD

Legend of Zelda Oracles Series Remake with finally finishing and releasing the 3rd Oracle game.

Mario Sunshine HD
Mario Galaxy HD 2-Pack
Super Mario 3D World port

Obligatory Mother 3 request.

I feel like a lot of these are possible. Especially the Metroid Prime Trilogy and the Zelda Titles. Nintendo has gone on record stating they want to try and release a Zelda title every year of the switches console life.

So far they have.
2017: BotW
2018: Hyrule Warriors Definitive
2019: Links Awakening Remake

My personal guess and hope is the unnamed BotW sequel will be released in 2021 or 2022.

hell yeah, there’s sooo much going on in Smash Ultimate; I had a lot of fun in it… the only reason I don’t still play is because there’s just so many other things that got my attention at the moment, like the latest things I got from the recent sales, and good ol’ Diablo 3’s latest “season”…and Dead Cells.

…but yeah, that World of Light mode has been one of my favorite story/adventure modes in many years…there’s a lot going on in there, and the grand finale/final battle is outstanding, imo… I loved how overpowered you can make certain things too; I had Ganondorf as a nearly unstoppable force most of the time.

sheeeitttt, times are good, man… there’s a lot I don’t like about where this industry is going (online-only anything can forever eat my shit), but damn there’s still a lot of good stuff left; I just glanced at my lineup on Switch and I have 50+ games there; more if you count certain things that are “collection pack” games, of course…definitely way more than I’ve owned for any other Nintendo system…one reason I have no problem declaring this to be the greatest system Nintendo has ever produced. Better than the former heavyweight champion SNES? Yep absolutely.
