The Nintendo Switch Thread! - Deadly Premonition 2: Blessing in Disguise 7/10 - Paper Mario: The Origami King 7/17

I guess my definition of anime is wrong then. When I think anime, I think DGZ style shit. I think the types of things I see where people have big ass eyes, big ass heads, whacky ass styled hair, over exaggerated animations, over exaggerated characteristics in general as mentioned above with hair, eyes, and even things like swords, etc. There is a very distinct animation style to it as well.

Do you guys remember that old Simpsons episode where they go to Asia and watch TV and get seizures from the cartoons on TV? That is the kind of stuff that I consider anime, so maybe it’s just a sub genre of it.

Things like SF I don’t consider anime in the least. It’s nothing like it (to me). Same with KI, until Keits took it over and put in Aria. That is legit when I said “ok this game has already gone to shit and now it’s Anime, so I’m out.” Like her Ultra where it showed some stupid animation with lines scrolling in the background - that is what I consider completely anime. MK isn’t anime. GG and Blaz Blue I consider anime, although I even realize that they don’t completely match my definition up above lol.

So again, maybe my own definition of it is wrong but that is the type of stuff I consider Anime.

Wow I just tried Star Fox on SNES on Switch. Game has not aged well at all.

3D games from that era have terrible frame rates man.

Well its actually a testament of what they can get away with on the SNES hardware.

The SNES was never meant to attempt 3D modeling, and they modeling and rastering real objects on the fly by letting the cart have a second processor (the FX chip). 15 FPS is the best anyone got short of a Silicon Graphics WorkStation, which at the time worth thousands of dollars.

True even the more powerful SVP chip in Virtua Racing for Genesis only managed 15fps as well.

Still high off of Tokyo Mirage Sessions port, what other Wii U games are left that’s in need of saving? Off the top of my head I think Super Mario 3D World and Xenoblade X. Kirby and the Rainbow Curse could be ported to the 3DS but I’m not sure if being on there would count as “saved” by this point.

Why did Wii U games needed to be “saved” ?

XBCX, Super Mario 3D World, Wonderful 101, Wind Waker/Twilight Princess HD, and Pikmin 3 immediately come to mind. Devil’s Third would be fucking awesome. The game is like the modern Deadly Premonition. It’s fucking great.

I want them to bring Earthbound Beginnings to the Switch. Same with the Fatal Frame game they released through the eShop.

I’d also like Citizens of Earth be brought over since we have its sequel, Citizens of Space.

I’d love to see Costume Quest 1+2 brought over. I love those titles but with M$ owning DoubleFine now I don’t see that happening.

Pier Solar would be cool too. Same with Shantae: Risky’s Revenge

Rainbow Curse should 100% be remade for 3DS.

yeah just bring Wonderful 101; that’s the last WiiU exclusive thing I care about. I’d buy a Switch version of that immediately.

In other news—Astral Chain continues to be goddamn incredible…surpassing my already high expectations. I’m loving everything about it so far.

I completely forgot about Fatal Frame 5. I would like a port just so I can play the game. I never played any of the Fatal Frame games.

I doubt that we’ll ever see Devil’s Third as Nintendo buried that game. It’ll take a company like Nighthawk Studio to make that happen.

Back in the day my girlfriend at the time was obsessed with them. I’d watch her play them a lot. They’re pretty cool.

Her holy trinity of games were Yakuza(Beat-em ups in general really)/Musou/Survival Horror

XCX, SM3DW, Wonderful 101, and Pikmin 3. Think those are really the last retail games that need to be ‘saved’ off the platform. I definitely want more people to be able to play the first 3 games so they can enjoy them. I wouldn’t mind TPHD and WWHD getting ports but the top 4 that I mentioned I feel are the most important.

Thanks to my quarterly bonus and registering a bunch of games I hadn’t registered yet I was able to get a small handful of games.

With a $50 and a $35 eshop card and almost $10 in coins I was able to get:

River City Girls. This is where all my coins went. Got it for around $21 and some change

Ikaruga for $10. Usually $15

Crystal Crisis for $15. Usually $20

Code of Princess EX for $20. Normally $40

The Friends of Ringo Ishikawa for normal price/$14.99

With each digital purchase I also earned coins to discount the next purchase. The discounts weren’t much, $.75 here, maybe $1 there but it added up.

So I made out pretty good, imo. I actually still have almost $10 left over too. I was going to get Undertale or Mario+Rabbids Season Pass but I chose not to. I’ll probably use the rest of my balance towards Castle Crashers or Turok 2.

Those two alone are SOLID CHOICES.

I really liked Code of Princess for 3DS but I didn’t want to spend another $40 on a port where it was just them adding some polish. So I kept putting it off and putting it off. At 50% off I finally decided to pull the trigger.

As I mentioned earlier. I have no preference of format when it comes to video games. I’ll buy in whatever format from wherever that gives me the most for my money.

Anyone heard about Gamestop doing a midnight launch for Links Awakening?

I’m going to be riding by NYC by bus possibly at like 8am on the 20th so I want to try and get it prior to that. That would be the perfect way to spend the time. I’m regretting not getting the new Switch model when GS was giving $225 for the old one too. I may get a battery pack though or some shit.

Midnights are on a store by store basis. Call the local GameStop’s and ask.

Seeing as it’s a big release their answer is likely to be yes. But I wouldn’t 100% bank on it without confirmation.

From what I know it varies for each location. Not every GS would be participating.
So I would call ahead to confirm.

Just get your standard heavy duty Smart Phone Power Bank.
Known brands like Ankler, Aukey, Mophie, and RAVPower .

Avoid shit like Nyko, and other budget brands.

Yeah I actually remembered that I have a battery pack from this jump start kit that I got my wife and myself. I actually have 2 of them too and have traveled with them before. Will probably just bring one of those. It’s crazy that you can jumpstart a fucking V6 engine with a battery pack.
