Same here fam. I’m still salty that i was the 26th person in line at the Gamecube launch and they only had 25 black Gamecubes. So I got stuck with a purple one.
This is obviously the 2DS tablet version of the Switch, cheaper and less features compared to the original but perfect for a family that doesn’t want to gamble on their kid breaking a $300 piece of hardware. Hell if my sister would let me and it came with Splatoon 2 bundle this IS a lock for me so my nephew would stop borrowing mine.
All these wild colors are fine… if they also include a simple black or white color too.
There’s what looks to be a gray version. I’m definitely looking at the Switch Lite to buy (unless Nintendo performs a holiday miracle and drops the price on the main SKU temporarily), and I definitely want to know if you can pair up a Pro controller to it. If a Pro controller can be paired up … sheeeeeeeeit.
There’s no reason to price drop the base switch because the Lite is technically a downgrade. So you pay $300 for the full experience or $200 for part of it. When the pro model comes out base model will likely drop
I’ll have about 600ish dollars to spend, as the wife did agree to putting $125 a month into a envelope until mid-december, when I get to go pick out whatever it is I want.
The fact you dock the Switch Lite seems like a step backwards, as that was the biggest selling point of the Switch, being a hybrid and all.
It’s a downgrade more or less. It’s for people who play strictly mobile. Which there are a lot of. Haven’t you been watching their commercials?
I will wait for reviews…
- That dpad looks a lot like the shitty one on the Pro controller.
- Sticks might still drift, they will be harder to repair/replace.
I wonder if a chinese company can make an adapter that gives us TV output
You mean the kids at the skate park randomly whipping out their Switches?
Play anytime, anywhere!™
I can see that happening but it would at the portable settings. I have a feeling the Switch Lite is passively cooled. Depending on the size of the node, you maybe be able to clock it high enough to get docked performance.
So how will you play those few temples in Zelda that require motion controls?
There is pretty much zero reason to buy a Switch lite if you already own a Switch.
Get a pro controller or a joycon.

That video showing off the Switch Lite is hilarious. Busting it out in the most active places. Reality for me is using it alone at 3am in my bed or between my web browsing
They’ve done this with literally every live action commercial for the switch though. The tagline for the Switch is “Play your way. Anytime. Anywhere!!”
I use my switch 95% in handheld. I however like having options even if I don’t use them. The dock that collects dust is actually used by my GF And her Switch when she plays Splatoon
Yes and it’s funny still to me because me being how I am I don’t see myself in any of those scenarios. Thus for me it’s seen as exaggerated.
haha my Switch dock has a nice layer of dust on it too…I really should clean that sometime… it just sits on the floor, forever ignored.
sheeeittttt, if I was still a kid that was dragged to church every Sunday…I’d have my Switch with me there too. Back in my day it was the Gameboy of course…I’d have that on hand to play right there in church…funny thing is the grown folks would think my head was bowed in prayer too…but really I was shooting aliens and robots in Operation C, or beating up more foot clan ninja as one of the Turtles, etc. This is why portable gaming is the greatest thing.
Interestingly the German Switch page still lists a gyrosenser as part of the featureset.
Which makes the wording used in the video even more confusing (“you need to buy Joy-Cons for 1-2 Switch because they use motion control”).
