The Nintendo Switch Thread! - Deadly Premonition 2: Blessing in Disguise 7/10 - Paper Mario: The Origami King 7/17

Yep. $100 for a $60 US NES classic off eBay and then another $120 (not including shipping) for a 2nd NES classic from Europe for only twice MSRP.
And we are “the poor fucks”.

He called me poor despite I spend over $700 to upgrade my PC recently.
The difference is I not going to be laughed at by SRK or society for $700 of PC part upgrades over is over Alpha’s $220 to play NES emulation.
He also a “big supporter” of Raspberry Pi Emulation (which I have no issue over), but if you have a Rasp Pi then why waste money on a NES Classic?

alpha loves jacking off to specs, while not realizing most of what he thinks is new is actually not new at all. most processors are fundamentally similar.

Yeah…that sniper buff

Yes and we saw how well that business model worked with the Wii U. Most gamers didn’t want to put down $300+ on a console that’s only good for playing games from (1) developer. So how is this any different with the Switch? Once all the diehard fanboys get their Switches, who will buy it then?

I’m not a nintendo hater, as evident by my love of the NES Classic. I’ll gladly support and defend them when they do something RIGHT. If they release an SNES or N64 Classic, and it’s just as good, i’ll be all over that too. But the Switch is just a lazyass creation banking on more gimmicks to gain an audience.

The Switch is too weak to function as a modern-gen console, and it’s lacks the battery life & durability to function as a quality portable system. Adult owners might be fine but, parent’s who buy that for their kids are going to be pissed when it gets destroyed in a few months from the occasional drops here & there. Even it’s own dock can damage it if you’re not careful. That’s pathetic.

NES Classic? Awesome. I own not one but, 2 of them. Props to Nintendo. They put out a quality product and it got my support.

Nintendo Switch? Poorly designed system whose only real selling point is that it can function as a portable. Yay.

You’re an Emulation fuccboi and nothing more. You have shown nothing but hate towards the console yet you stick around for some reason. You need to shut that ass you call a mouth because everyone is tired of the shit you spew out.

I said when I got mine I would never play portable. I can’t take this expensive system around with me. And I feel games for TVs should be played on TVs and games for handhelds should be played on handhelds. I hate that Nintendo has made a system that does both. If they made just a console and a DS2 I would have gone mental and gotten both. Playing Ace Attorney on a big screen is dull. And playing Zelda on a small screen makes me feel like I am missing out on some pzazz.

Having said that. There has been times when I have undocked my Switch to sit on my bed and play. Because the girlfriend wants to watch TV, and I have been to lazy to plug the HD cable into the separate TV, that I got purely to Play Xbone or PS4 while she watches. So it has come in handy.

Having said that. I 100% hope that next gen Nintendo decides to drop the portable thing and make a console and a stand alone handheld.

I love this console though. Nintendo’s styling lends itself to weaker systems. Of course more power would always be nice. But it doesn’t matter as much as people like to moan about it. Zelda is amazing. Looks good. Its got a huge map. And the bump mapping and slow loading enemies doesn’t even slightly draw you away from how great the game is. Games that focus so hard on being graphical master pieces fall short with any little glitch.

I am not phased at all about third party support. Though I am sure parents getting the console for their kids would be pissed if they couldn’t get a bunch of games for the kids. But people need to realize that Nintendo has pushed themselves as the second or third console for the last few generations. They aren’t trying to be the first choice. But of course there is going to be third party support. The Switch may not get all the multiplats. But there are developers who are only making games for the Switch exclusively, other than Nintendo.

But even so. I got it just for Zelda, Kart, Xenoblade and Odyssey. With the hopes Nintendo releases an HD remake of Smash Brawl. I sold my PS4 to get the Switch, it has more appealing exclusives and when a PS4 Pro is around second hand for cheap and the system has more than Naughty Dog games, The Last Guardian and Horizon if you push it, I will pick it up again. All my Multiplats I play on the Bone.

Hurry up Nintendo. I want Kart.

Just some ranty crap.

hes saying a console that is a glorified emulator that only plays 30 games is worth money while a console that will have all of those games plus hundreds more is a waste of money

loooool

Plus you know the Switch will have Virtual Console, it makes a dedicated Emu box that only emulates 1 system and 30 fixed games a moot point.
So all those NES, SNES, Turbo Graphic 16, Sega Genesis, N64, Game Cube, Wii, Wii U, Commodore 64, GBA, DS, and Arcade titles will be there.
And you can pick and choose which old school games you want without hacking a little box.

So I going to nab right away The NES original Super Mario Bros and Neo Turf Masters.

You paid twice the retail price you idiot. Not once but Twice for a stupid TV Plug-n-play box, and you paid twice the MSRP, Twice the retail price.
The second unit you paid even more for you had imported from Europe.

The Reason the Wii U failed was not the game library, lesser spec, or lack of 3rd party support. Having lower specs was never a weakness for Nintendo. For example the Original DMG GameBoy outsold more advance full color handhelds. The reason the Wii U failed was because marketing. Poor marketing and a terrible name caused the Wii U to fail. Most people going to Best Buy or Game Stop thought the Wii U was a tablet Add-on for the Wii.
Anyone who worked retail with video games can confirm this.

How do you know? Did you ever use it? Nintendo them selves say the unit has a 2.5 to 6 hour battery. Most reviewers have confirmed Nintendo’s claims.
The Switch it self sports a 4310 mAh battery (largest capacity battery to date in a handheld mobile gaming device), that is twice the capacity of a PS Vita slim (2200 mAh). The 3DS and PS Vita also have similar 3-6 hour play times. The Wii U Tablet game pad as the same 3 to 6 hour battery life and it does zero processing, all the processing is done on the Wii U console. On the other hand the Switch is a complete system.

You know what else the Switch has better battery life than, every single gaming laptop on the market. Take a Gaming Laptop off AC power, and it goes to battery saving Mode, so your laptop throttles down the CPU and GPU.
Even then with the down clocked CPU and GPU a gaming Laptop only gives at most 2 hours of battery life.

"OMG Teh Switch has issues"
Dude, every new console release has issues. If you don’t want the issues just don’t become an early adopter.
Most issues gets resolved a few weeks to a few months after the console has launched.

You guys are ruining my thread by interacting with AlphaCharlie. :frowning:

They should have called it the Super Wii instead of Wii U. If Nintendo didn’t name their consoles after fucking pronouns they probably world have had more success in the first place.

this guy paid more than retail for an nes emulator that only plays 30 games while free ones have no limitations?

holy fucking shit what a dumbass lol

Not once, but twice

He bought 2 of them for $100+ each

I would if Alpha was not a fucking Myth peddler, guy spreads more falsehoods than anyone else on SRK.

He already convinced this one poor sap that $2 video cables are “Good Enuff” when they guy want’s high quality video on his HDTV with a PS2.

Spoiler

To be fair, you really shouldn’t spend any more than what i just posted for an hdmi cable

No.

This was not HDMI cable territory were talking about. With analog signals, you don’t want to cheap out.
This was getting a PS2, not a PS3, a PS TWO to display properly on a HDTV.

And Alpha Charlie here got this poor sap to buy a crap Chinese made $2 AV cable and a POS AV to HDMI converter.

If you tried to use a PS2 with a modern HDTV you know what I am talking about. The distortion and blurriness makes CRT era retro consoles nearly unplayable on HDTVs.

At the very least you should use composite or s-video if possible when using old-school consoles on modern tvs.

At the very least.

Ohhhhhhh. Silly me.

I have a capture card that came with a ps2 connection so now i can use my ps2 on hdtvs. It’s glorious

Stupid Charlie

They guy already had a RGB Scart PS2 cable and lived in the UK. And Alpha here convince the dude to basically downgrade.

Newly made cables now that are bough for $2 are worth shit. Decent Analog cables go for about $12-$15.
Unlike digital cables, analog cables are subjected to interference thus you want to have well made shielded cables with wires that are not hair thin.

Okay we got sidetracked. And its sorta my fault.

So what people know about Snipperclips?
It looks interesting to me.

^ There should be a demo for it if you want to try it out. Heard that it’s fun.
