It’s actually better than the Wii U version. It runs at 1080p and at a higher frame rate. The Wii U version was 720P it could drop to 19-20 fps at times. The undocked version runs at 720P higher fps than docked mode and the Wii U. I agree with you that it is an unoptimized port though. Side note: They went cheap on the cart size and used poorly compressed audio. At least give people to option to download the uncompressed audio
Now Liberation, makes AC3 look like a Panic Button port, it’s a Vita game for it to only run at 900p docked is criminal. I mean Panic Button got Wolfenstein 2 to run on Switch. Hell some developers I never heard of, Shiver, managed to get MK11 to run on Switch.

The fact that MK11 was the top selling game for the Switch in April should be an eye opener for devs that if you actually give a shit you can get good sales for your game. Shouldn’t be any excuse for unoptimized games going forward.
Edit
To add to this Capcom also needs to be put on notice with some of their RE ports

Capcom need to be put on blast for a lot of reasons with those RE ports.

Went back to playing Hell is Other Demons and the patch has eliminated the slowdown I was encountering. Got some more health upgrades and discovered some cool new weapons in arcade mode that I’m hoping I come across in shops in the campaign mode.
Oh, Cuphead also got a patch a while back so it loads faster.
Pokémon Direct June 5th.
Why so early tho?!
Maaan Nintendo trying to make me hype for their E3 presentation…they’re getting super mario maker AND Pokemon out of the way.
I posted this in the E3 thread but Nintendo’s line up when it comes to releases this year is pretty insane.
Mario Maker 2
MUA3
Pokémon S&S
Luigi’s Mansion 3
Astral Chain
Fire Emblem: Three Houses
Links Awakening Remake
Daemon x Machina
Smash DLC Character Reveals
Town
Animal Crossing
Those are just the titles that are CONFIRMED for 2019.
There’s also the possibility of getting release dates for Metroid Prime 4, Bayo 3 and, DQXI-S at E3. We might even get official reveals for the rumored Metroid Prime Trilogy along with a complete edition of Persona 5 during the event as well.
Not to mention whatever fucking curve balls or bombs Nintendo decides to throw as us during E3. Cause Nintendo always throws curveballs and drops bombs at E3. They especially love to sneak shit in during the Treehouse presentations.
I’m so glad Nintendo learned from pretty much every mistake they made with the Wii U. They did an absolute 180 coming from the Wii U to the Switch. They feel like a totally different company now.
The Switch is arguably the best home console Nintendo system since SNES. Like, yeah don’t me wrong. I’m not saying the systems between the SNES and Switch were bad or don’t deserve praise. Not even remotely. There’s no arguing that the N64, the GameCube, Wii and even the Wii U all have their beloved classics and console defining games. But none of them were as consistent as the Switch has been when it comes to content.
Imo anyways.

Honestly I’d rather have the Gamecube’s lineup than that of the Switch but maybe I’m just too big of a Metroid and F-Zero fan to be 100% happy with current Nintendo.
They do have a good lineup for this year though and thankfully we’re also past the “best of WiiU”-phase now because that was getting old.

Metroid Prime 4 is coming.
As for F-Zero, it wasn’t since Game Cube we had a F-zero game, F-Zero GX in 2003.
If nothing else Nintendo should compile the Original F-Zero along with Climax and Maximum Velocity into a single title / Download for the Switch. They can skip GP Legend.
yeah we are in the new Golden Age right now with Nintendo. Switch already has already become their absolute greatest system of all time for me. (to me, the previous champion was SNES)
…and of course—Marvel UA 3 is definitely a day 1 for me…sheeeeeit, Nintendo has been on fire with this system since launch day. It’s crazy.

Yeah, as a launch title for Switch 2 or something. That game is so far off it’s not even funny.
Maybe. Maybe not. There are still a handful of Wii U ports people want. Tho some might be harder than others to accomplish.
Twilight Princess HD
Wind Waker HD
Super Mario 3D World
Wonderful 101
Tokyo Mirage Sessions
Pikmin 3
There might be a few more but those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head. I just hope they never port Star Fox Zero. Confiscate every copy and bury it next to ET. Fuck that game. It’s one of only a handful of games I’ve ever outright regretted buying.
I am glad they’ve slowed down on the ports tho. But also super glad they chose the ports they chose because those games desperately deserved more exposure and deserved more praise than they were getting. Especially games like Hyrule Warriors, Mario Kart 8, DKC: Tropical Freeze and even Bayo 2.
I don’t get that gif to be honest. There are futuristic racers coming out all the time at the moment (FAST, Redout, Grip, Pacer), I really don’t see why Nintendo refuses to bring F-Zero back. A HD version of GX would be great as a start already even if it wouldn’t handle quite as well on Switch.
I think it’s just lame from them to sit on that IP and do nothing with it except bringing back Captain Falcon for every Smash game. There’s about five Kirby games per year, I think there can be room for one F-Zero game every decade.

What’s not to get? Ignoring an amazing library of content because they don’t have a few games you want while clinging onto an almost 20 year old system that does is kinda silly, imo.
Neat.
Likely because of despite how “popular” it is. Pretty much all the F-Zero games sold poorly.
Try being a Mother or Golden Sun fan and get back to me.
Gross over exaggeration is gross.
Probably.
Well I’m not going to split up my post like that. I never said I’d be ignoring the Switch library, really no idea where you get that idea from because I don’t even remotely hint at it in my post. I’m just pointing out that prior systems had a bit more diversity on offer and I preferred those lineups for that reason. Gamecube being a case in point because it had the best versions of two of my favourite franchises. I’m happy with the Switch too but I could be a lot happier.
And F-Zero didn’t sell? Maybe. But neither did Bayo 2, Wonderful 101 and Starfox Zero and yet here we are with Nintendo publishing yet two more Platinum titles. Sometimes it’s about sales, but sometimes it’s also about image for platform holders.

F-zero not having a new game in awhile is mostly Miyamoto’s doing. He’s stated that he wants to find something new to do with the franchise and until he can he’s reluctant to do a new one. I believe he stated a new one at this point would essentially be GX with better graphics which…isn’t really a bad thing imo. Not everything needs to reinvent the wheel and to be honest if Nintendo took GX/AX did a remaster/remake of that game similiar to the effort they put into Wind Waker then I don’t think fans would be too upset as a stop gap. That game stands up pretty well now as it is so getting better looking version of that game to take on the go with online multiplayer wouldn’t hurt.

This isn’t even remotely true though.
This is though. You feel it’s a superior system cause it happens to have 2 IPs you like. I know you said you’re clearly bias but you say you’re not but then a few sentences later you clearly say you are. So?
They all sold well when compared to how many units of the Wii U were sold. Bayo actually exceeded their sales predictions by a pretty good margin.
When Bayo 2 was announced I worked at GameStop and our Wii U hardware sales went up 500% within a month of it being announced. For better or for worse it was a system seller to a lot of people.
Wonderful 101 also sold well comparatively to how many Wii U units were sold.
Nintendo was super happy with both titles sales figures.
Star Fox Zero sold a shiiiiiit ton because it was Star Fox. Before release everyone’s one major complaint is that it was essentially another retelling of 64. My main complaint was that Platinum had a huge hand in making it. I don’t like Platinum really but I love Star Fox so I gave it a chance despite my HEAVY reservations.
That said, No one had any idea really that Zero was going to be that bad. It was the one of the few times Nintendo truly tried to make the Wii U pad be apart of the game. It blew up in their fucking faces because it was horribly designed and implemented. Though to Platinums credit. This wasn’t their idea. It was Miyamoto being a stubborn old man.
Also: keep in mind I’m not saying either IP’s are bad. Though I dont like Metroid from a gameplay stand point from a story and narrative stand point I love the series.
F-Zero is fine. I never played a lot of it because racers have never been my thing. But I don’t think it’s a bad series.
People just tend to let their fondness/nostalgia/favoritism get in the way of enjoying new stuff or acknowledging their favorite IP isn’t as popular as they think it is.
GCN had a really solid lineup of games. One of my favorite being Rogue Squadron II. Man, I wish we could get a reboot of that game. It was like the best part of the Starfighter mode in BF2, but with inferior graphics and superior gameplay.

There no Switch 2. There supposed to be a Switch Mini which is a smaller model, and something akin to a Switch Pro, which supposed to be a model with version with more processor power and ram.
GX was on the GC, so it run buttery smooth on the Switch which is much more powerful than the GC/Wii/Wii U was (assuming they did the recoding correctly). Also with the switch, they can probilly improve the wire-frame and textures so the game looks great in HD resolutions.
I think Rouge Squadron II they skipped on textures to maintain framerate and giving it a 480p mode instead of the 480i most GC games run in.
Oh. Apparently someone cracked the source code on the Cadence of Hyrule’s website and discovered the launch date is going to be the 30th of this month.
I doubt this though as Nintendo would have been promoting the shit out of it.
