Yuna walked in her fathers shadow her whole life. She wanted to carve her own path in what ways she could. When she realized that path was full of lies and deceit, she still did what she thought was right.
As for X-2, now that she was free from the shackles of a false religion and what was “expected of her” she was free to do what she wanted. What’s wrong with that? Also she didn’t become a pop star really? She technically only used the Songstress dress sphere once and that was in the lightning plains where it possesses her and showed everyone Lenne’s and Shuyin’s history up until their deaths. The show in the opening scene was LeBlanc
For me it was wakka. I love any character that battles with his morale compass vs what’s right to do. Like his first exchange with Seymour obviously shook him. His faith in Yevon was continuously tested until he was finally like “I can’t do this anymore.”
When I met John DiMaggio i had him sign my Wakka figure and told him how I loved how he portrayed Wakka. He made a character that seemed “dim witted” or “seemingly oblivious” into a very deep and thought provoking character who was clearly struggling with what was morally right and what he was taught. He was like “that’s the nicest fucking thing anyone has ever said about Wakka” he then proceeded to give me the hardest and slappyest high five I’ve ever received in my life
From the time Auron can in, he carried that game’s story. Obvious GOAT.
Yuna is okay she’s intelligent yet navie, and the only thing that bigger than her loyalty is her heart.
Kimahri is cool, but he is the Chewbacca of the group.
Lulu is the stoic Black mage we needed in the party for not just balance sake, but she often the Logic behind the party.
Wakka is a idiot, he an idiot but he a reliable idiot.
Rikki, fuckign Rikki, We already had her in FF7 as Yuffie and FF8 as Selphie. Annoying little twit.
You start off with that Bull shit. It also a HUGE downgrade of her character.
You don’t do a 180 personality wise from that. That makes no sense.
Her natural progression from Priestess would of been someone who was an activist or did outreach.
She wouldn’t go the way she did in X-2 without a major personal crisis. And she resolved that in the previous game (FF 10) with no changes on how she carried her self or change in her personality.
Because look when she had her Life Crisis, here whole identity was challenged in FF 10.
If she would start showing change, it be during and after that crisis, not two years later after the fact.
Her personality and her devotion to being a summoner and disciple of yevon constantly changes throughout FFX the more they explored the world and the more she learned about herself.
And we don’t really know what happens between FFX and X-2. So it’s not really a complete 180.
My one complaint about FFX-2 and it will always be my one complaint is how Brother, Yuna’s cousin tries to bang her the entire game. Like…gross bro.
FFX-2 from a gameplay standpoint is my favorite hands down. The turn based system is clean as fuck and just works. It also has the best job class mechanics I’ve seen in any JRPG.
Didn’t Yuna become a songstress so she could sing and calm the people down? Basically another way to help people out since she’s no longer a summoner. Seems fine to me.
Anyways, X-2 was fun as hell. Back then I printed out like 50 pages from a gamefaqs guide so I could 100% it… and I fucked up somewhere.
Why not? All sortsa mediums do flash forwards all the time and a lot of characters looks, demeanors, outlooks and ideals change within that flash forward. Comics are notorious for this. Hell, the MCU just did it with a toooon of characters.
People don’t stop changing and growing just because it’s been two years since their big wake up event. Even during X-2 Yuna is still working to find herself and who she really is. This kind of stuff takes people their whole lives to figure out, it’s fine for Yuna to still be evolving as a person. Its actually rather realistic for what is mostly a silly fun time.
It’s even more understandable when outside those last two years she’s spent her entire life effectively as a Nun.
Except you dont do that in story telling. In writing its show, don’t tell.
They decide to give a character a paradigm shift in personality with no explanation of why.
I played though FFX-2 ass hat. She went from Priest to Thot in two years isn’t realistic at all.
Especially that they never covered why in X2 other than Things are different.
Its garbage and you know it is.
The fact you keep calling her a Thot makes me think you are lying. She’s not a ho in that game.
And no it’s not garbage. Its perfectly fine for her to be an evoling person, even off screen instead of a static construct like you seem to want. This happens in narrative all the fucking time.
