The Nintendo Switch Thread! - Deadly Premonition 2: Blessing in Disguise 7/10 - Paper Mario: The Origami King 7/17

  1. It’s a spoiler. Now the player knows something’s going to happen to Rex.
  2. Telling a player to not roll Blades on Rex makes him ineffective. Rex still needs blades.

Probably nothing so not to take away from Nintendo Labo launching.

Looks like we’re getting a similar launch style to last year, with Nintendo launching 1 major/-ish release every month. Considering how good last year was I’m totally fine with this.

I mean… I didn’t specify why you shouldn’t do so and there’s no way to assume anything. Can’t really see this as a spoiler if I didn’t say why. And no, advising not to roll on Rex doesn’t automatically mean something happens to him.

Rex isn’t ineffective at all without rolling on random blades. Not gonna say why because that would be a spoiler, but he holds his own just fine.

I would say roll on Rex, but don’t roll everything on Rex, just because you don’t want him to end up with all the rares, and you gotta waste overdrives to transfer them.

I have 2 fucking moons left in Mario Odyssey and they are 2 that I’m dreading. The damn volleyball one and then the bound race with the snow guys in the S class, the one you play after beating the game. May try to get both of them tonight but ugh, they are so tedious and not easy to do lol.

go to 2 player mode for volleyball, start match, then just use cappy the whole time. you can take a step outside the barrier so you’re still in camera. it takes a while but super easy

the races aren’t that bad. just practice

Let me give you an example. Let’s say someone asked for tips for starting out in some other game, and you give the advice “don’t give X character your best equipment.” You didn’t say why, but the player still knows that *something *will happen. It’s going to be in the back of their mind, so when the event happens, the surprise will be somewhat diminished because they expected something to happen.

Well yeah but they don’t waste all their shit.

It’s an RPG. You should always expect something to happen lol. I could give you a long list of “somethings” that could be the reason behind that advice. For example, when you tell someone not to give all their equipment to a certain character, it’s because that character will leave the party at some point…usually. It could also be because that character gets much better equipment at some point at the cost of losing what you had on them. Could be because the character just straight up loses all their equipment after some event. Could be because the character evolves somehow and doesn’t need it. Could be because you have to fight that character and that equipment makes the fight harder.

See what I mean?

It’s not a spoiler advising not to do something if you don’t say why. Sure, you could make baseless assumptions, but that’s all they’ll be. By the time you find out why, your experience isn’t hindered at all having known not to do that, and you’re eternally grateful that you had that advice prior.

What I’m saying is: knowing there will be a plot twist in a story driven piece of entertainment isn’t a spoiler. Knowing that it involves a specific person or thing narrows down the possibilities, but it’s a bit more complicated when it involves the main character. In this specific case, you could really fuck up with limited ways to fix it. I think that overrules the slight possibility of piecing together the reason behind the statement.

That’s very good. They never fixed the 60FPS bug that causes equipment to lose durability more quickly.

Looking forward to DKC.

Well, it’s a bit disappointing when the novelty kinda wears off… I’ve apparently unlocked all the monsters in Crawl…even though there’s still a few more other things like deities, traps and weapons, and the in-game achievements… I was more interested in unlocking the monsters. So now that this is complete, it kinda sapped some of the fun right out of it for me… I still play it on occasion though, and I imagine it would most likely be more fun against real people anyway. (*I don’t think it has online multiplayer though, surprisingly.)

Only a matter of weeks now 'til my honeys Bayo and Jeanne bless us with their arrival to Switch…sheeeeeit, I may try to take that day off

Want to know… who uses the switch as a mobile console? I always use it for my TV

I largely use it mobile even at home, just feels good to be able to laze around anywhere and play.

I’ve only used my switch undocked once. It was when my power was knocked out during a storm. My phone and 3ds were dead too so the switch was the only form of entertainment I had for a few hours so I played mario kart.

I always play it docked at home. If I go on a trip I’ll bring it with to play in the car/plane, but I much prefer the Pro Controller over the mobile configuration.

Yeah the pro controller is super nice. It’s so comfy.

I’ve really only used it in portable mode when on airplanes or traveling in general. It’s usually a solid 3 hours per flight and makes them go by super fast. I took a train to NYC and came home in the same day, so that was like a good 5 hours of Mario Odyssey in one day. Around the house I prefer to play with the pro controller on my 120" screen over a tiny screen with a somewhat gimped controller (compared to Pro controller).

Both. At home and tv is free? Home console. Any other time? Portable.
