The Nintendo DS thread v.2

^ can’t wait for the new castlevania. Also Bangai O spirit is coming out in august, thats going to be a good one.

Quick question about FF4:

Is there a special bonus dungeon after the main game? I think there was one in the GBA remake, and I just think it would blow if there wasn’t one in this game. And if there is, is it the same one, or the same thing plus more?

Sorry, wrote this out before but it got destroyed by my internets.

Simple method for taking on dispatches: If the leader is jumping up and down, this means that he can do the task 100%. If the leader is walking or crouching, this means that he will have difficulty and will fail. If the party, that is under the leader, believes that the leader is capable and they are able as well, the party members will raise their one hand. One hand. Not two. If the character is not able, they will either crouch or walk. Best practice is to put your highest guy in as the leader of a dispatch party. That way, if you see the rest crumble, you’ll know it’s probably not the leader’s fault.

Don’t worry about failing a quest: this system is more forgiving than its’ predecessor and you’ll be able to do it again in a matter of months.

Travis: hahah yeah, that’s how it starts. Money is tight, but after you get farther in the game, money isn’t much of an issue. Even after the Clan Trials and clan titles start denting prices because of the price discounts appointed to them. Make sure you do the Clan Trials because of this. Each time you complete one, a new clan privilege appears. Such as Debuff Resistance 5: you’re immune to 70-80% of ailments. 90% of the ones that will hinder your performance such as Toad, Poison, Blind, Immobilize, and Disable. Real immunity.

  • Laws are mission based, as stated before. If you see an “Uphold The Law and blah blah blah” mission, this means that it is crucial to follow the laws inorder to beat a mission.

  • I want to get Cooking Guide. I’ve been looking at some of the recipes here and I’m jonesing to try one out. I’ll go with… Macaroni and Cheese today.

Oh yeah, official release date on CV:OoE… awesome.

Hopefully, we’ll see a North American release date soon:tup:

Bear: yeah I know not to break them, not a real issue there (yet anyway)

But some missions I end up resting my game should I fail, because I don’t want to lose any CP or Gil this early. I put my FFTA1 in my DS and thought I could trade my old members into FFTA2, that would of been sweat. They should of considered something along those lines, the characters didn’t have to be at LV50 or anything…it could of been all rested including the abilities. So like, all the human/vierra/etc would have was their promotion or regular job.

This game could of used wifi also, to say it was rushed is a true understament because its been years. But they should of considered that aspect of trading clan members on wifi or conducting battles over the net, it would of made the game better imo.

I think they took the Lunar Ruins out of the DS version, for reasons I cannot explain.

FFTA2GR has got me GGPOFTW.

Dude, seriously. The game is crack in DS format.

So I bought a DS about 2 weeks ago.

I tried playing online, but I found out I need a software for that?

I bought it used.

It’s really slick.

It’s the Zelda special edition.

Do I really need a software to play online?

no you douche bizzle

That’s what it said… bitch. haha

Fuck your av bitch<3

XD

Best headphones for Ds lite not too expensive?

I already checked online some sites that give reviews about some good headphones and earphones at a non-expensive price ( especially on cnet.com ). My budget only allows me not to spend more than $50 by the way. I bought the v-moda bass freq earphones for my ds lite and they work great, but still I dont feel too much comfortable with them. I wanted to know if the Koss Portapro are a good option for my ds or which other should I buy.
I will only be using them for the ds lite, so I dont think I need to buy a $250 and up Bose headphones in order to “get the most, if not all”, of the console’s sound system.

Thx in advance !! =)

What…?

Just buy 12 dollar sony ear buds.

mmmmh … I dont think those ones are noise-cancelling, or can make u hear an improved bass right ? o.O

There are some games for the DS that have a great soundtrack, that is why I’m looking for better ones.

BTW, nice av

I wouldn’t be looking at good sound quality off the DS.

If you want bass, canalphones are what you want (the ones that seal off the ear canal). They are also inherently noise-suppressing, like foam plugs.

Thats true. The v-moda ones I bought do exactly that. I just wanted to know if there was something else that could give me “another extra boost”. I feel more comfortable with headphones than with earphones, and thats the reason of my search.

Question:
If you trade in an OG DS to gamestop toward a lite, do you still get a bonus? Cause I have an opportunity to get an OG DS but I really need a lite

Wow…I mean, bonus content was cool and all but wasn’t really that needed considering that the GBA remake was the first portable one and a lot of the new generation could get in on it, but this is another remake and to just remove content is…fuck it, I’m probably not getting it. I didn’t even like FF4 that much from the GBA remake, although it is undoubtedly a good game. Too…standard for me. I prefer, say, the job system from FF5 and all the shit you could do with it, to make the most broken characters, which was actually fully required for the secret bosses.

I have 4 possible Square games to buy: FF4, FF Crystal Chronicles, The World Ends With You, and FFTA2. All are $40, too. So I’ll scratch this one off…or maybe I’ll see if I can get it used for cheaper down the line, as I’d probably still enjoy a playthrough.

My complaints exactly. Square Enix did alot of things right for this game, but the ignorance still wreaks FFTA2 from being an unequaled successor in the SRPG realm. I still love my baby, mind you and think it is peerless on the DS. Still, it could have been more. I just find it funny that Nintendo allows you to do the character transfers with Pokemon, yet Square-Enix couldn’t think of doing such a thing with a Tactics Game that gave you 24 characters to worry about. You have a good 100 levels to worry about now. Wouldn’t it be great to transfer your old guys over and continue to build them here? The wi-fi fighting, both online and local, would have been much appreciated, especially by myself who wants to beat people senseless with my Shadow Viera team. It’s just S-E keeps holding back. They do it so much.

You’re right: Square Enix did have time and Quest(basically the forefathers of 3-Quarter View SRPGs, who were responsible for this and every other Tactics game out there) also knew this. It’s not like they didn’t know how. War of the Lions has this there. They know their market and they’ve done this several times by now. Again, as I have stated before, it is sad to see both companies and development houses beaten at their own game by - what - piss poor games like Luminous Arc.

Wait til you get the R-Ability, don’t hit over 20 HP, Swimming, and Missing(my all time favourite), restrictions. Real fun

VG: FFTA-2 is worth your money. 400 quests, 52 classes, and 24 characters. That’s alot of time. I’m still not bored and I plugged in 80 hours into it. FFCC is questionable. Unless you like beating dungeon crawlers alone, by all means don’t bother. But if you have buddies, who’d play this: then get it. Can’t belch on Wonderful World. Still trying to avoid it.

wez: if a game has the Wi-Fi symbol, you should be good to go with it. Just make sure you have a Wireless G router or a Nintendo Wi-fi USB connector. Zelda online is brilliant. You’ll be surprised as to what Nintendo has done to this mode.

  • Ya’ll Space Invaders Extreme…you should play.
