You die. Seriously. I can’t figure out anything if the Dhalsim player is halfway decent. You basically are forced to guess all the time…
>.> Wow this is sooooo unfair to so much characters in this game, i play Nina/Zangief
I played against a decent Sim with an auto block gem. It was pretty ridiculous. I focused on constantly closing the gap, stopping frequently to block extended limbs. I won a round by knocking him down and keeping him down using combos with arm breaks. I guessed right twice and finished him quickly with the team super. The other two rounds he ran away successfully. Stretched my patience to the limit. Having meter helps.
Wat about after we block any of his limbs use HK sway, i was doing this to some great extent playing my friend with other characters. What i do is while playing footsies and they press for any normals i immediately use HK sway to close to gap, the outcome is when they are recovering from their moves (like ryu doing his projectile but to a lesser extent bec the recover faster) Nina is in range for her overhead or her cr.mk or cr.lk.
But when Dhalsim throws out a projectile (i dont have alot of experience with the match up) we can do lk sway can we?
Yes he can space his projectile but the HK sway can still work even if he delays his limbs to hit as soon as the projectile hits, we can neutral jump as well.
Well thats a pretty hard match up… Most of the times I use her EX hcf+P when they yoga fire and they eat an easy 50%. Just dont lose patience and wait for a mistake.
Alright, today I finished up Nina’s Trials rather easily, and now that I’ve gotten a glimpse of what she’s capable of through those as well as her rather strong showing at GodsGarden, I think I might make her a pet project over the next few months since chances are I’ll be playing this exclusively as my main fighting game at least until TTT2 comes out.
What are the cliffnotes to what I need to know about her before I start putting in work with her?
^ Her EX qcf+p is the best way for punishing projectiles. Can combo after that.
Crouching + HP is her best uppercut
Her ex command grab is a nice surprise move.
her rdp + P is a good wakeup move.
her EX qcb+kick is completely invinsible.
Her frw LP+MK is a good move when a downed opponent rolls to escape. u can switch to second character as soon as the punch hits and ur 2nd character will be safe even if the opponent blocks.
Learn to use raw launcher a lot cause when she is rushed down she has problems.
She depends a lot on her ex moves so meter boost gems are the best for her. power boost gems are also delicious. I have her with 3 power gems now and when all 3 are up I do 70% damage combos.
Overall she is a hard character. My main team was heihachi and Kuma and I was at 5.5k BP then I switched to nina and juri and I dropped to 2.5k lol. Now that I learned to play my nina I am back to 5k.
Rufus, Claw, Dictator, Juri ruins me. Well, any character that can roam the air ruins me. Any tips? O_Q
Unless they are already in your face i find Nina does decently well winning air fights with her hp and hk, so probably try more reaction neutral and jump back attacks.
How are you guys handling situations where your stuck in the corner and your opponent is just mashing on you? I try to find a hole and hit confirm cr.LK into something but find Nina in the corner has a hard time getting out. Suggestions? EX Geyser?
Yea, ex geyser ftw. Even though geysers are -6 on block, people will punish them once in a blue moon. If it hits, you can get some extremely good dmg and end her juggle with ivory cutter in order to allow yourself to switch out. Keep in mind, mashing out an ex geyser is harder than mashing out a dp. Dps have very simple shortcut motions (jiggling your stick in one corner repeatedly) which allow them to be well suited to mashing, whereas geyser’s qcb motion is harder to continuously mash. It’s still very doable and very effective.
If you don’t want to scrub it out that way, or if you simply don’t have the meter, then you’ll have to use skill. Look for holes/frame disadvantages in your opponents attack strings. If they’re close enough, I usually do her lp mp string since it’s 0 if blocked (if blocked, you can do it again as a frame trap since her lp is a 3 frame move, or throw out a st mp afterwards to give you more space and frame advantage, then maybe surprise them with in an ivory cutter). Her lp mp string gives plenty of time to confirm on hit into a combo or launcher. If they’re far, try poking with cr.lk to st.hk. It’s relatively safe on block if done from the tip of her foot. On hit go into launcher. At the right distance, you can also try crossing them up with her jump mp.
Edit: One more attack option. Do cr. lk cancelled into her blonde to uppercut string (mk, lk, mp). When you perform this string after a cancelled cr. lk, you have to wait a little after the mk before pressing the lk or else it won’t come out. Another option is to double tap the lk to make sure it comes out, which is what I usually do. For some reason this attack string is one of the best frame traps in the whole game. It’s composed of multiple frame traps and opens people up way more than it should. It also puts them in a float state allowing for a juggle combo.
-_- u cn cross up with j.mp?
And i NVR use this in a match before (cr.lk, mk, lk, mp) will put this into my game, basically wat i do is space myself do ivory cutter, cr. mk (on whiff i do skull splitter), cr.lk - cancel into geyser.
Yes, jump mp is her easiest cross up move (still harder than most character’s). You can even cross up with her jump hk and hp, but I find those much harder. Her cr. lk into blonde uppercut string is useful because it’s the only way she can be at point blank range and use a safe attack string that starts from a low attack. If this entire string is blocked, she’s only at -3.
whats her anti-air?
Generally C.HP.
her only overhead move is ivory cutter?
Yes.
and you cant combo from it unless its counter-hit.
Your braindead analysis of her overhead is the only lame thing. It’s one of the best, if not the best overhead in the game. Fastest, farthest reaching, can catch wakeup backdashers and groundbounce them, can be used in her juggles to grounbounce to freely get her out.
Go play Xaio, Hwo, or Ibuki if you want overheads that don’t need counterhits to combo. Or maybe you could use your brain in a match and charge up Nina’s blonde bomb to store a counterhit.
didnt see it through, heh. i havent played the game much yet, i have no console.
thanks for info.
