The Nina Team Synergy Thread

If you guys like meterless damage with no gems then freakin Nina (point) and Asuka (anchor). This shit freakin hurts!

I found a nice damaging combo for those that are playing Nina/Asuka and those that are thinking of Asuka possibly.

So, a new alternate combo I found from Nina >>> Asuka and Asuka >>> Nina.

Nina >>> Asuka (From a hit confirmed cr.mk/st.mk):

Cr. :mk:>>> :hk: Geyser, (Early as Possible) Cr. :hp: >>> :lk: Geyser, Ivory Cutter >>> (Tag Cancel first hit to Asuka), Fwd. :lk:>>:lp:, St. :mk: >>> Falling Rain, Cr. :hk: = 413 Damage Meterless/No gems. Plus, you’ve set yourself up for oki positioning which is THE most important goal of this combo.

Thats 413 off a hitconfirmed/footsie oriented Cr :mk: from Nina. Nina has some very very good limbs for a Tekken character. Makes me happy.

However, I think some of you might like this because this combo because can be followed from the oki positioning you made for yourself from that last Nina >>> Asuka combo.

Asuka >>> Nina

j. :hp:, St. :hk: >>> Upkicks, Fwd. :lk: >> :lp:, St. :hk: >>> Onikick (onikubigari) >>> (Tag Cancel to Nina), cr. :hp: >>> skull splitter, cr. :hp: >>> skull splitter = 466 Damage Meterless/No Gems

Theoretically speaking, since Nina >>> Asuka combo sets up great positioning for the Asuka >>> Nina Combo, if you land both combos thats 413+466 = 899. Thats basically killing most female characters and low health characters ALL OFF NINA’S Cr. :mk: and not a jump in. However, with all this being said, this is just theoretically saying you’re able to land that godlike two-sided j. :hp: Asuka has.

Also, the very very awesome thing about these two combos is that the very last moves of each combo, Asuka’s cr. :hk: and Nina’s skull splitter can be tag canceled back into the other character. This is just in case your incoming second character has a sliver of health left and you want to tag back into the healthy point character. Hope it helps some people, and convinces others to try Asuka out possibly.

The reason why I play this team is that Nina has very nice ways of getting in, great freakin normals for a Tekken character, and setups okizeme for Asuka (because Asuka’s strongest point is after a knockdown due to that godlike j.:hp: of hers. If you want meter, its there because 90% of the time, you will NOT use meter for any of their combos because they do so much damage by themselves. A very patient team imo, footsie oriented, and great for those players who make excellent reads.

^That’s good news, as that is my friend’s envisioned team (not that he has the skill for anything yet >> ).

Is there any synergy at all between Nina and Paul? I’ve been Pauling it up but since trying Nina she’s far and away my favorite. Wonder if I can keep this team or if I need to start using someone else. Besides, Team Blonde Bombshell is hilarious.

That’s probably one of the best teams on the Tekken side IMO.

If you can get Electrics down… meter can go either way because IMO Nina is pretty self sufficient and she’s not meter hungry. If you use Kazuya and you can do electrics, those do like 500 meterless on it’s own. What you have left is a lot of meter for escape, bigger combos and plenty of Super and Cross Arts to drop your opponents. Forget about time outs. Both of them go past fireballs so easily. I’m highly considering dropping Law for Kazuya if I can get electrics working with my bad wrist.

Hey, mind me asking, but do you still play with this team/remember the detailed synergy between the two?

The main reason I used Poison with Nina was because Poison builds a lot of meter quickly. Poison builds the meter, uses her great cross rush to tag in Nina then Nina can use the meter for extended combos. Another thing, Poison doesn’t do that much damage on her own so I wanted to pair her up with someone that does good damage. Nina gets really good damage off of easy combos.

It was one of my first teams so there really wasn’t much thought put behind it, but it works. The only reason I’m using Julia at the moment is for the fun factor (just my opinion but I think Julia is more fun than Nina). If I was taking the game 100% seriously my team would still be Poison/Nina (or perhaps dropping Poison for a better char).

Ah… I see. I play Julia too, but I wanted to try a zoner. I picked up Nina in SFxT because I saw what her DLC outfit looked like Day -2, but she kinda just stuck with me and her combos came naturally to me. Now I just kinda… blonde bomb peoples faces in, but I ant someone who can give and receive great tag combos like my Juri/Hwo main. I’ve read a lot about Poison a couple of weeks ago and it seems like she doesn’t really have a good tag combo. (But she’s so sexy to me…!! I want her…!)

For Poison, HK DP is probably your best bet for tag combos but from what I’ve seen it’s really character specific… it can work great with some characters but not work at all for others.

Wah!! Damn… I’m in the lab with her right now and I can’t even do her BnB. I think I only wanna play her because she’s the sexiest female in my opinion. lol Nina needs a good pair though, but I’m trying to find a good counter pick to Raven in all honesty and Poison’s DP seemed to do that pretty well against his cross ups if he didn’t expect it.

I’m still using Poison but it’s mostly to build meter for Nina to use, as far as actual tag combos go I really have jack crap, it feels like I’m playing two separate characters. I would love to find someone with a bit more synergy but Poison’s about the only other cast member whose playstyle I like and my execution is a little too mediocre for a lot of the rest.

I’m making it a point to really focus on Nina now, and use a second character who is relatively mindless that I can count on to eat the meter Nina creates and do big damage combos.
My main choice is King, since I plan to learn him at some point (though he seems difficult) and most of his game seems to be coming in and doing EX move into knee lifts into Liger Bombs. Also perhaps Julia, for her ridiculously fast super?

Been runnin Sim/ Nina

Still haven’t decided if i like Nina better on point or as anchor, right now I’m still using Nina/Gief or Nina/Hugo but i really hate using Hugo. Still working on Rolento/Nina for matching costume greatness but like a lot of other people who dislike playing Rolento, the repetitiveness is kind of a turn off (jab jab jab rekka rinse repeat). Would also like to try more Poison/Nina but frankly I find Poison just to be not that great of a character, but I’m also just not very good with her. Nina overall is still showing that she’s super versatile working with plenty of characters and I definitely want to stick with her in the long run.

Juri Nina works pretty good. Tons of damage and Juri covers all of Nina’s bad matchups. Juri can zone if she needs to on point or rushdown, and Nina always comes in with a good amount of meter. Why I like Nina as anchor, cause when she has the meter she is a whole different character.

What is it she does with said meter? I’ve been playing her entirely as a battery/dispensing with confirmed Supers and counters when needed. I guess her EX Splitter grants more comboability, but what else?

Currently using Nina/Paul and I feel it’s the most synergistic team I’ve yet to use. Nina’s a great point who does tons of damage, and most importantly her bnb juggling combo pushes the opponent really far, allowing Paul to contribute with his high damage, exemplary corner game. When this team wins they win quick.
On the other hand, they both seem to have weak defensive games and poor anti-airs.

Thats why i use Nina and Ogre and im not dropping them anytime soon.

If to me, I assume that means Ogre is a better, but much less fabulous Paul. I’ll keep that in mind if I wanna change up my team.

lol Ogre to me is very good character, he has wake-up options defense and offence, alot of damage (flashy) input isn’t hard for the amount of damage he puts out, full screen punish, very easy hit confirms, mix-up overhead in his target combos. So from using Nina which i prefer her cr.lk, ivory cutter, Skull splitter, high low mix up and easy ability to evade zoners, her footsie game is better. And with the damage she puts out is ridiculous, Ogre coming in doing his damage then bring Nina back in or if Nina bad match up is raping her i switch her out. She lacks wake-up defense with out meter so thats when i bring in Ogre.

With Nina as anchor and meter you always have better reversal options, and can punish them for hitting a button with ex geyser. Even if they down back you, you can spend a meter for the command grab as long as they don’t read it and throw a low out. I haven’t used much ex splitter, but im sure you could use it on reaction at mid range.

As i said i like her footsies better than Ogre’s footsies and Ancient Power hits behind him.
And i like Ogre wake up mix up game better then Nina, so when i get that damaging combo with Nina and bring in Ogre i can get most out of there bad wake-up…

Has anyone thought brought about the serious idea of Kazuya/Nina? Sure, there a stock team, but that doesn’t mean they don’t work really well together. I’m currently investing a lot of training time into Kazuya and I’m looking for a partner. I tried Lili, but she scales way too much so I’m going to use Alioune’s team of Nina/Lili for that. But thats beside the point. And since people in the Kazuya thread don’t know what a freaking partner thread is then I’m just going to each potential partner and asking about the thoughts of others.
