The NHL (Hockey) Thread: 2015 - 2016 (Let's see how Kessel does on a real team)

hahaha Brown is one of the most universally hated players in the league.

Basically Marchand of the west.

EVERYONE is making excuses for that hit.

I mean I know he’s never been a problem guy but I haven’t heard any thing from anyone, let alone Widemen himself, that makes me understand what happened there in this clip.

Ppl have said he was so out of it that he didn’t see him, but then how did he even make it back to the bench cuz when he hit him he had his eyes on the bench the entire time.

Classic Flames piece of shit player.

Anyone watching All Star weekend? Dylan Larkin just smashed a 20 year old speed record. Dude is 19. He has some mental speed on the ice.

SoVi3t coming back soon?

Dunno, should we page @Preppy ?

I got to see the speed record. He’s got a huge future in this league.

He almost slipped as well, with the speed he was going that would have been one hell of an injury.

He was ace in the other skills tests as well, put both his shots in against all-star goalies. The dude is the future of the sport, honestly.

I’m already calling him next captain after Zetterberg retires. Nyquist is streaky, Abdelkader is more of enforcer than a leader, Tatar COULD, but I think nobody else will stick around long enough to and Larkin seems like he’ll be a strong mind to lead a team.

He’s got the right character personality wise. At least on the surface he’s clean, a good team-mate, people like him. You never really know how fame and success will change somebody but he’s still young and a bit starstruck, just wanting to be on the ice and so far he seems legit.

I could see him becoming a captain, he’s not only American he’s local, he’s photogenic, he’ll be good from a marketing standpoint. Sort of reminds me a bit of when the Giants signed up Buster Posey. Everyone could see he was just a natural talent for the game and he checked all the other boxes.

You’re right about fame, but he seems so focused on honing his craft and has a good locker room to keep him level and humbled, so I think he’ll do fine.

I dunno, he just seems to want to play hockey and let the rest sort itself out. Great mentality. He’ll be a consummate pro.

I’m proud of my man Cory Schneider for putting in work this season. Marty taught him well. It seems to me that the Red Wings and the Devils have two of the best farm systems in the NHL, seeing that they just keep producing top end prospects (Larkin, Helm, Schneider, Zajac, Henrique, Gelinas, etc.) year in and out. Fingers crossed for the annual Bruins second half collapse and miss the playoffs.

Let’s not forget Mrazek in that mix, but yes, you are right about the farm systems. Teams that can win with late rounders and make them into superstars are the teams that have longevity in the league. Detroit’s been doing that for quite some time, and still not looking intent on stopping, which is great.

Zetterberg and Datsyuk went laughably late in their drafts and everyone knows them if they follow hockey.

Larkin is probably one of our highest draft picks in ages and it’s a good thing we got him. But he’s surrounded by late rounders who met their potential in the farm clubs.

Wideman got sat 20 games for that hit.

Best thing I’ve seen in a while.

OH CANADA

Called it

Just LOLing on the title.
Kessel is having his worst season of his career I think.

Also fun game against the Flyers last night.
Oilers actually have more coke machines that won’t let them get pushed around as much.

Still a shitty team, but I’ll take any wins at this point.

Yeah. People are a little disappointed with how Kessel has been playing around here.

I’ve only been paying marginal attention but the phil has just not been hitting the back of the net

Can the Ducks stop winning every game like it’s NHL16 franchise mode. Thanks

but for real, they can have the division if they end up passing the Kings. We play for cups, not for division titles anyway
