The NHL (Hockey) Thread: 2015 - 2016 (Let's see how Kessel does on a real team)

Kessel is apparently pissed about not getting a video tribute the other night when he came back to Toronto on Saturday.

What could be more exciting than watching a 2 team failure float around the ice? It would be like 5 minutes of him missing the net by 12 feet with a wristshot from the boards, and slowly going to the bench to change lines whenever he was supposed to backcheck.

hahahahah Was he actually upset?

Sigh…

Yeah, a bunch of penguins in the dressing room were talking about it on various sites and news reports and such.

I always hated that shit, you’re all ready to play hockey, then they start the game with an 8 minute video, making the players just sit there like idiots watching it, then they go out and play like ass because the video took them out of their “zone” or some shit.

minor league news from my cities sister city, but still hilarious:

Some asshole buys the Firebirds and moves the team. He wants his son to get tons of ice time, even though the son is fucking garbage. Coaches flat out tell the owner they have legitimate other players who should be getting that ice time, and that the owner’s kid is horrible. Owner fires the entire coaching staff. So the entire team quit. INCLUDING HIS SON. Great investment, genius!

Hockey parents are some of the most retarded parents I’ve ever seen.

No better illustration than right here.

reading an article about it now, the OHL has like no fucking clue what to do when one of their teams just quits hockey. They gotta meet with the owner, and remind him this not only makes him and his team look bad, but makes the league look bad. Who’s gonna wanna go to the O knowing that you might get traded to that asshole’s team or lose minutes so he can play his kid. Speaking of:

wat

NHL is all about lessening the number of guys on the ice, ever since players started getting to be 6’4" all the time.

I’m not really a fan of the All Star game, outside of the skills competition. Last time I watched an allstar game, I ate a fuckton of shrooms and tripped out the entire time while my asshole buddy ran around with a Viking helmet on.

I think this may be why they are trying something different for it. I don’t think all star games are all that popular for any sport… leagues have been changing formats and adding flairs/frills forever. This seems to be an interesting one.

Watched the end of the pens game last night. Geno played well after being in a funk. Olli Maata got fucked up real bad, got shoved into the boards and the wild had the door open so his shoulder caught the edge. This penguins season has already been a roller coaster, Mike Johnston’s job has been a topic of discussion seemingly every day on the radio.

Hockey is a full contact sport, it’s hard for me to watch all stars playing a game without hitting each other (for fear of injuring somebody during the run to the playoffs). No big slapshots or risky plays. May as well watch pond hockey with kids.

It’s the same way in the nfl/nba; just a bunch of super stars not wanting to take a hit or play defense.

At least moving to 3v3 might be a way to get around the boring parts of not hitting by opening up ice and speeding the pace of the game. Or players will still half ass and it will be super exaggerated lol.

or the score of the game will run higher than the score in an NBA game

Goalie sure as fucking ain’t pulling his groin trying to make a crazy save on a breakaway.

bwa ha ha ha thanks for that early birthday present, @odin

Team sucks everyone here knows it.
Talking shit about it doesn’t offend anyone lol

I’m hearing Eberle is getting shopped around, but nobody is offering anything good for him.

edited my post above:

Why would they? He is a shadow of his 76 pt season.

I’m getting props at work today because I predicted a shutout by Sparks haha

Chiarelli is probably using this season to look at what he has and what he doesn’t need.
Then the offseason will involve offloading 80% of the team.

But for the first time in a long time, we aren’t complaining about the coach or GM. Positives!

Now Edmonton has to look into who stays and who goes, and hope they don’t kick out (or keep) the wrong people.

People talking about how Sparks will take over Bernier’s spot, now. Which is pretty much how Bernier got the job (show up, play great for one game, get kept).

Can’t wait for Connor McDavid to get snatched up when he becomes RFA.

Ya just like all our other 1st rounders got snatched up.
I think you should ditch the dream, mang.
