The game is coming back in France, as the World Game Cup in Cannes is being held on March 2010, and features an official HOKUTO NO KEN tournament, and we might receive japanese players like MAGO :o
Good to hear it is still being played… Seems like no one in the US plays this game I am still praying for a 360 or PS3 release which may spark new blood if it happens.
Not sure, haven’t seen anything recent with him in it. I don’t have the link to his blog either. If anyone can spot me a link that’d be kool. Always found his combos just absolutely amazing.
How bad is the Thouther’s match up agaisnt Rei in ps2 port? Rei rush down with jump cancel and high priority air commands makes it difficult for throuthers to punish, and Thoughter cant be defensive for too long or guard crash will kill him.
I don’t really know how to approach this match up except to be relentlessly aggressive but sadly I’m passive player and the my style is turtler.
Thouther’s preasure can be pretty devestating, but the majority of his block strings are punishable (avoid the full rekka) if the player doesn’t know what they’re doing. Just stay on top of Thouther and don’t let him get his projectiles out, as they can put you in akward situations. At the very least this match-up should be 6-4 to Rei…
On the other hand (assuming you’re coming from a Thouther stand point), apply preasure with your projectiles and learn where the escape routes are. Rei only has a few options when those projectiles are out and it’s your best chance to force him into making mistakes. Rei really dominates Thother with both mobility and combo potential, so keeping him pinned in is all you can really do to stop him from getting on top of you. Just make sure not to be repetetive as one knock down can put you in a terrible situation and can be the end of the round for Thouther, especially with his poor stamina…
Is this the arcade? because the mechanics seems different from ps2. Unless my opponent isn’tfully familiar with rie, he doesn’t cancel out of rei DP and he cant loop any of those combos. (though we play house rules/ no loops)
Mechanics are pretty much the same across the platforms. Only noticable difference, besides the glitches (such as Rei’s infinite DP), are the Boost slowdown combos (caused by Atomiswave limitations) which don’t exist in the PS2 version…
Those factors alone change the match up dramatically. Also Ive did not see any air techs, either the glitches prevent it or it was improve on ps2 port. regardless its not suitable for me to run by these videos.
Uh, the game is nearly identical between systems. The Rei DP infinite is a big thing, as is Mr. Heart being able to infinite different characters. But that’s basically it. The Boost slowdown really just changes the timing on things slightly.
Air teching has not changed at all. All of the combos in that video work on the home version.
i remember that the time lenght of the thouther install is different, also im not sure but i think that ken cant combo his C+D from his C as he does in the arcade version (at least is what i think)
Why the animosity? If you guy’s don’t favor it, its cool but to go bashing some one for illegitimate reason is just pathetic. I can see why the community for this is low. How underdeveloped you guys are.
Me and my freind just simply agree to enforce a rule on each other to not use loops/infinities, we think it ruins the competitive integrity and we value that more than winning.
why do you guys value infinites/loops? regardless of execution which in HNK case its easy.
You are playing a 10x more broken game by banning ‘loops’.
And most of the advanced loops in this game are very hard to do. But you guys obviously don’t have the first clue how to even play so I don’t know why I’m bothering.
Well if I may ask than, how does one go about of playing? since you claim we don’t know surly an great observant like you can explain such a thing.right?
