The Next Fist of the North Star/Hokuto no Ken thread

Toki won the SBO didn’t he? (3 Tokis in top 8, thank god it’s not all Tokis final) That’s enough to prove he is on top…

Well, Toki won Tougeki '06, which was over a year and a half ago and the same was still evolving then. I just remember some people in this thread telling me that Toki wasn’t #1 anymore… but I guess they were talking out of their assholes.

Maybe it was around the time when the infinite DP glitch wasn’t banned, it was quite a big advantage so some people might thought he was first, but he was ranked the same as Toki by the japanese back then, and now he is also on par with him.
Actually there is one thing that make Rei better than Toki, it’s being the main character of KI.

Toki is #1 indeed, but Rei, Raoh and Judah are not that far from Toki. It’s not like SF3’s Yun top-tierness. You can still whoop some Toki asses with those chars (even also w/Kenshiro and Shin)

Yeah, if there’s one character who has climbed the ranks, it’s definitely Kenshiro. He’s got some enormous star taking ability, and his loops do good damage.

New souther Combo.

Awesome man, thanks for posting this up.

Too many boxes to watch!

that was quite, quite awesome. Made me want to pick the game up again, lol. Really liked the multiple wall bounce business and that final 2x fatal ko thing was great.

This game is truly amazing. I purchased it the day it came out for PS2 and I am proud to say Hokuto no Ken delivered. With the exception of Tougeki, has any other tournament showcased this game?

the Dream Fighters Festival (DF2) did.

^Yes. Matches are online on youtube. Try searching. It was upped by someone very familiar over here. There’s some very beastly matches on there btw. =)

^ Shiro’s post match interview is awesome. =)

How does Thouther activate a super during his FKO animation? I’ve known of it done before but never seen it done so blatantly. Aren’t other commands locked out during that period?

2 FKO In A Row?!

Alright i’ve been trying to learn a Souther dribble infinite like the one in these vids:

The starter for these is basically the same, but i can almost never get the j.D air dash j.C. I’ve gotten it a few times, but i guess i just don’t know the trick.

EDIT
I think i figured it out. j.D is jump cancelable, so you have to jump cancel and then immediately air dash. I’ll be working on it some more…

Man, they just FORGOT to record all 1st round matches since the recording hardware was set up next to the GGAC cabinets ! HNK men moved on those cabinets like 1 hour later lol. Fortunately, Valentin captured my battle against Msin & Harumachi, but is just damn lazy !

So I’ve recently been trying to do the wall street loop with Raoh and I can’t seem to get it down. While I can do TK reverse sai to get behind people (I can do the basic 100% against Ken and Toki), I can’t do coast-to-coast TK sai.

When I send them flying to the other wall with a CD strike, I mash boost as hard as I can but I always end up too close to them / the other wall, and if I do a frontward TK sai they’re way too close to the wall for me to do a followup TK reverse sai since there’s no room to get behind them.

What is the right way of doing this? I see videos where Raoh stops almost two or three character widths away from the wall before TK sai’ing them in the front, but I can’t get him to stop that early for the life of me. I try to mash boost to drain it faster but that doesn’t seem to be the cause of the problem.

This has been answered countless times for months, but here we go again.
**Do not mash boost, press it 4 times at a fast rhythm.
**If you perform it properly, Raoh will automatically stop at 1/4 to 1/3 of the screen.
Check out this video to understand.

Wall Street/Urasai is very hard on Shin, so if you get the timing on Shin, you just get the perfect timing.

Scroll to 6:30.

Notice how slowdowns also affect your timing in arcade.

Thanks for the pointers! Sorry I searched the thread and didn’t see any mention of wall street boost timing, my bad

I wish everyone had Ken’s hitbox :>|

You know, I almost gave up on this game–since not enough people play it yet in the states. I hope it catches on again ut I doubt it. I still love the game though when I do get a chance to play people. It almost made me quit CVS2…almost.
