The Next Fist of the North Star/Hokuto no Ken thread

i dont know man, im told that over here it only goes from 700 to 1200 but i am seeing something different.

Yeah, Japan plane tickets price are located in that range.
$3000 is business class

You have to come. There are too many awesome teams announced for the event.

^^^haha, I hear you want my friend hoc4life to go to Japan with you

I was just at his house last night playing some HnK

I hope he does go to Japan with you

i’ll see if i can find it
I HAVE TO GO

i see that there is some ggac too, i may have to indulge in that as well.

Haha, indeed.
I’m currently trying to have Valentin come with us, he already went there, played with Benj a lot, and knows where to go.

Oh and something I found recently : http://pharaon92i.free.fr/divers/DSC00535.JPG

EDIT : Latest casuals. Camo [REI] VS Pharaon [RAOH].
There are 40 matches recorded, I’m currently splitting them up.

i may be able to make it, i found some decent (decent meaning i SHOULD be able to afford by the time we have to go) prices. Hopefully it will go down or something. What are the exact details for this plan again? Date that you guys will be there, date you guys are leaving, and which airport to arrive at.

I only got to see the first match right now and camo reminds me a lot of myself XD
lol when you guys where looking at each other standing there. MiNdGaMeS

If you are GOING to DF2 (Japan) or CURIOUS about that, CHECK and TALK about it @:
http://www.youtube.com/groups_forum?name=hnk&topic=9EkvhGaqUH8

It has pretty much everything you need to know from hotels & commute price, players (Japanese and foreigners) to the games they have @ DF2 (HnK, BigBangBeat, JoJo, Accent Core, etc). Check it on daily basis and ask any questions you have. DF2 is going to be a fun event:)

Seems theres quite a bit of confusion in regards to current rules for the Evo HnK side tourney. Does anyone have any details on current tourney rules? Seems like a few people want to ban bounce combos but I dunno what the more recent rules have been in Japanese/French tourneys. Personally I would rather not see them banned.

Everything allowed except KENOH.

  1. No same character for the team, thus no Toki x2 or Rei x2
  2. No Rei’s glitch uppercut!
  3. No freezing glitches!
  4. No Shin’s invincible glitch!

thats for the tourney we plan on going do dribbling is okay now!

Man I can’t evaluate your level since your last vids are from late april.
Do you plan to meet Tian anytime soon ? Will you enter the side Evo HNK tournament ?

Now that we’re teaming up for DF2, we need to analyse our strategies to see where we can improve and/or fix errors.

i went to ctf earlier in hopes to play tian but he wasnt there so i dont think you will see me play until evo. Though i gusee i could record some matches between me and my freind. He plays shin too XD and his brother plays Roah. They arent as good as me but they know combos and can play footsies with their characters good enouph. I would say that they are better than 80% of the us players so at least thats something (i hope). I heard they been practicing though so who knows.

Because i havent got to play anyone my exicution has increased but it will take some getting used to before i can remember battle stratagy. They want to play every night this week anyway so i should be okay before evo.

Fine. You might also want to practice on the AW version of the game too because of the boost slowdowns that mess up some timings here and there.
Anyway we will practice a fucking lot when we get there, I’ll get more info from ZEN soon.

Good luck you two!
I’m liking the idea of a French/US team :lovin:

This has to be taped.

I practiced on the AW version (if thats what the one in CF has) every once in a while. I do feel a slight difference, but i thought it was the silly sticks XD
Some vids i recorded not too long ago, in my defense i haven’t played anyone in since evo east. However, my friends said they are back to stay so i should have some good sparring partners as soon as they up their game a little more.

“That was so gay !” HAHA

Nice stuff so far. However, here are few things I noticed that you could modify or improve for your Rei.

  • Avoid 2B 2D when opponent is guarding. There is a hole everyone knows about in it and you could get easily punished if you perform that too much.

  • I haven’t seen much grab attempts when you have cornered the opponent. Try to perform it rather quickly to make your opponent think you will try to open his guard with the high/low game. Best way to do so is to hide it behind an IAD C or by performing 66E from a distance.

  • You should use the aerial aura barrier since you can choose your side when landing on opponent with it, meanwhile he won’t know where to guard since you can either appear in front or behind him.

  • When in a pressure scheme, try to IAD on moves opponent won’t except you to do so, like close 5A, 2C, 5B. Every player knows that Rei can own you after 2B or 2D, so show them you can own them with ANY basic move

  • Also, when in that pressure scheme, try to delay a bit stuff so that you can poke opponent. Don’t do that much though as delaying stuff offers opponent a way to escape and/or counter you.

You could probably watch Harold’s vids (and of course, japanese Rei players) to have an idea of what I’m talking about.

thank you for the tips, i’ll be sure to take it in and do my best to apply it.
Its funny, i usually do a couple grabs (IAD land grab) in those block strings every once in a while but i guess i didnt record the right matches XD
as for everything else i’ll do my best. I do need to do close standing D more than crouching D anyways since IF i did hit them it would leed to more damaging combos. Also the more i play against people the less combos i will be dropping :stuck_out_tongue:
pretty much i agree with everything you said

“You should use the aerial aura barrier since you can choose your side when landing on opponent with it, meanwhile he won’t know where to guard since you can either appear in front or behind him.”

could you explain a little bit what you mean? Do you mean j214C or aura guard in the air lol
also if you dont mind giving some tips to the roah player that would be great, he is still new to it.

You’re welcome.
Yeah, I was speaking of that 214C move while in air. Also do not hesitate to jump more than once with Rei ! And whenever you have the opportunity, prefer the 5D -> 2CD combo.
As for the Raoh player (VR), I haven’t paid much attention yet to it, will look again at the vids later.
