The Next Fist of the North Star/Hokuto no Ken thread

More likely nobody found anything even remotely like that during any beta testing so they never had any idea it would be a problem. And then they just didn’t care to fix it for the PS2 version since it doesn’t crash the game or anything. It’s a random problem with the physics engine having to do with OTG bounce height.

The problem with HnK is that even at max gravity, some normals are still fast enough to continue hitting them OTG and resetting the bounce effect over and over. This with the addition of no OTG Teching, very little pushback from these OTG hits, and then whatever bug in the physics engine lets you start bouncing them higher and higher … and you get a bunch of lovely infinites.

GG has a similar OTG property, if you spike someone from up high with a VV follow up kick, they will bounce much higher than if you spike them from low to the ground. It is possible to do weird OTG combos like that, kind of like how Pote can hit you OTG with Heat Knuckle and they can tech it immediately.

Air blocking against ground based:

Normal attacks: Yes, you have to aura-block
Specials and supers: Depends. Some can be blocked either way, some can only be aura-blocked, some cannot be blocked at all (Don’t have examples off the top of my head now, sorry!).

And yes, Aura-Guarding negates block damage.

Kthnx if you can give examples latter it will be appreciated. ^.^

I’m not sure, but I think Raoh’s cape might be unblockable.

yeah uh, it cant be blocked ever
its pretty much like Hearts 623P (or whatever his anti-air command throw is)

Shin’s muteking glitch don’t crash the game either but they fixed it, maybe they thought bounce infs were cool or something

So what are the conditions to actually setting up a bounce infinite? I just randomly got seven bounces there with Rei, although I have no idea how I did it, the most I ever had before that was three. I used his 2B > 2D > JC/IAD C > C > j.A > j.C > 236D > 66 B > C > C > 236236A combo although I’ve never managed to get seven bounced hits before…

is there a good explanation of the system anywhere ? [not as heavy text based as gamefaq] or can anyone explain it ?

  • the 3 bars at bottom ?
  • the bar underneath those

when can u do a fatality? how much bar is used
how much bar is used on normal special

whats that joystick thing that comes up sometimes?
Why do there faces show sometime in ackground , anime style transition

havent a clue

I could tell you how to bounce with rei on heart, its 2b 2d iad c land a c iad a c land c xxfinger superxx it suppose to get 25 hits or 27 then 2bx6, its hard to time but it do work, hearts legs is suppose to be at rei head height…I’ll make a vid latter to show you if you dont get it.

2bx means you start 2bing as many times as you could.

The Boost bar, used by the boost button. I have not really figured out how make use of it yet, just seems awkward.

The super bar. Each character can build up 2 super meters, blue being level 1 and gold indicating 2 meters are built up.

Underneath each character’s name are 7 stars, certain attacks take off a star. Each character has specific attacks that can take away a star.

Once all 7 stars are gone, and you have at least 1 super meter, the Fatal KO can be done by: Fireball motion+Strong punch and kick.

Depends on the character and his moves. Like in other fighting games, some supers will require more than 1 meter.

The joystick icon comes up when a character is stunned, or hit with that move that knocks them against the wall(Strong p+k). Moving the stick around helps you get out of stunn faster and avoid hitting the wall.

The faces in the background thing, just confirms that your character has lost all 7 of his stars, and is open to a fatal KO attack.

There is no meter requirement to perform a FKO.

You really shouldn’t answer questions if you don’t know the answer yourself, thats pretty scrubby.

If you’ve been playing this game as long as you say you have, and you don’t know how to make use of the boost button yet, maybe you should quit.

I’ve only had the game for a few weeks now, and have NOT been playing it non-stop either, just here and there.

Thanks for the complement also. stfu.

Yeah you’re right a super meter is not needed to perform a fatal KO, as it can be done on empty. However, for some reason, any meters you do have will get used up anyway(even though you don’t need one, strange).

(tested on training mode by the way).

Yeah, that guy who was talking about guard breaks is right, there is deffinately some unblockable action going on. I haven’t tried this with all guard, just aura guard. But yeah, the first couple of frames in your jump are unblockable with aura guard.

yo! qcf+d = u cancel an airdash off it.
b,b = stick to the wall ninja masters style.

That’s basically a way to punish you for using them too early or missing an attempt.

Losing all you meters is the penalty for a missed FKO, if it connects it doesn’t cost you anything.

It doesnt matter, cause u should only be Fatal Ko’ ing last round… If all your stars are off u already pretty much lost that round or the next if ur playing someone good.

to start the bounce you have to have at least 33 hits (with rei at least). A set up i use for it (that CAN happen in matches) is IAD, jD, c.D, IAD, jB, jD, 2B, 2D, IAD, jC, 5C, jA, jC, 236C, 66, jB, jC, 5A, 5C, 236236A
if you wait too long you will get all the hits but you cant 2B bounce them and if you do it too early you wont get enough hits. So the hardest part of this combo is probably just trying to position the super just right.
When you get to the boosting part all have to do is wait to see when you are being pushed too far and boost. However, if you want to get full use of that boost bar (i.e. two boosts in one bar) then and not have to look at your bar and the characters just do 2B8, boost, 2B5, boost and repeat until you are out of boost.
By the time the boost is all clear you should have around 85~90 hits and then be ready to 236236A super. I usually fail at this part but if you can do it then the real bounces begin. From there i i usually see rei just jC and 214C.

Anyway, i have no idea how different it is for everyone else but that is the way to do it with rei. Im messing with roah’s right now, but GwagfhuihBlood can fill you in with that.
