Trevor’s official look in Curse. You can see the scar that goes through his left eye if you look close. Which is probably what Obata is exaggerating with the eye patch.
In the last issue of Play magazine they said one of the coolest looking characters is Grant Dynasty, but he looked nothing like him of course LOL! No pictures of him in the magazine though…
Trevor fights/helps Hector in Curse. Trevor also fights Isaac at one point, and Isaac talks some trash but pretty much gets his ass kicked. Later Isaac surprise attacks Trevor from behind LIKE A BITCH, which conveniently leaves Trevor unable to help Hector fight Death and Dracula.
Thanks! You can see Sypha, Cornell and Grant in the images.
Sypha looks cool, of course in Castlevania III she was for all intents and purposes a moving cloak so there’s no where to go but up. Cornell is a giant werewolf. Grant… WHOA that’s a hella wierd Grant there…
The English voices for Simon and Alucard are pretty good. I wasn’t sold on Alucard at first but in grew on me during that second vid.
And Simon’s boy-toy outfit is significantly less disgusting in polygonal motion than in the artwork. I still hate it, but whatever.
Funny: this game won’t shackle you to the Wiimote if you don’t like it, but Metroid Prime 3 and Tales of Symphonia 2 will. People need to learn from Konami. I’ll buy it for that ALONE. That and I’m a huge Castlevania fan.
Metroid Prime is better with Wiimote pointer controls IMO…way more precise…though if they wanted to give you standard fps controls go right ahead. I don’t know why Bandco or Namdai decided to to shackle people to just the wii-mote and nunchuk controls though. But anyway people have already started learning not to do that and give people options…really started after Smash.
Simon, Trevor, Sypha, Alucard and Aeon are the only designs that look right to me. I’ll live with the others, but Shanoa’s new clothes drive me nuts. They make no sense! Doesn’t she need her arms and back to be bare so she can use her glyphs? Why would they do this?
^ When I saw Shanoa in Judgement I wanted to punch a baby. I’m a big fan of Shanoa’s DS design: convincingly pretty yet decked out in gear that fits the whole glyph-mage thing. And then Death Note designer turns her into a nun. YEAH REAL SMART JACKASS. THAT’S AWESOME.
I’ve come to the conclusion that Simon’s outfit isn’t horrible, it’s the pose his main artwork draws him in that upsets me. I still like the red-haired Simon redesign, or even original non-redhead Simon.
Trevor and Sypha look okay. Not horrible, not great, but acceptable.
In that video where Simon was beating up those zombies and giant iron gladiator, that almost reminded me of some kind of ‘Adventure Mode’ they could have in this game.
Nothing says ‘let’s take a break from beating up Maria’ by downing a few zombies.
I played virtually everyone who was unlocked. The game over all is really unbalanced. Maria from what I saw is by far and away the best character in the game. I only played it for an hour or two but she has some abilities that make her much stronger than the rest of the cast.
There is a block breaker attack that all characters have which is…well unblockable… the thing about hers is that is an owl that flies around and attacks independently of her.
So for instance, you do the unblockable attack, then say the other character starts a combo on her, the owl will break the combo just by flying around in the general area by hitting you.
Combine that with her “tsunami wave” move which keeps most of the cast a distance, it makes her almsot impossible to approach.
Other good characters are Simon, Alucard and Eric (?). They all have good range, easy combos (most of the combos are easy in the game) and decent block breakers.
Movement was fine but the camera makes the whole thing really frustrating over all. This game is like trying to be soul calibur and powerstone all at the same time. The game would actually be really dope if it had the same camera angle that powerstone did with 4 players, items etc…
The items int he game, from what I saw the only useful one is holy water because it is a combo extender. I found it a lot harder (impossible?) to extend combos with the other items like the dagger and axe. They use a certain amount of hearts and you have to run around the stage to find more hearts.
The supers take like 50% damage and are about 10-15 seconds long each. Its like a summon in final fantasy or something. Some of them seem to have like 1 frame start up and the hit box is anyones guess. I got hit by one while doing an attack string?? Invinciblity frames? again, anyones guess. A lot of stuff in this game does not makes sense to me. haha.
I say if you’re into castevania though you should check it out. Its worth 20 bucks or so id say, but its no soul calibur or anything.
fine by me, soul calibur is ass. camera issue is worrisome, but the rest is fine. Doing supers through strings isn’t exactly new(assuming they are block strings anyway) and I think it’s still a little early to talk balance anyway. Long ass supers arent too bad as long they dont happen more than once a round. how fast does meter build anyway?
Yeah its hard to explain because the range on weapons makes for some puzling situations, like one time the start up animation for the super went through my attacks from fairly far away. Sometimes I would get hit w/o being in the direct line of attack either. I dunno, the hit boxes and properties seem strange in this game.
Super meter seems to build fairly quickly id say if you’re attacking. some moves deplete the meter but I forget what they are. One is the Golems (?) roll move that allows him to move faster but I dont think it did any damage? Seemed pretty useless.
