Yeah, the character designs look horrible. Why couldn’t they just use Shanoa’s OfE design? It’s recent and looks alot better.

well i think Alucard is ok (worse than original design), simon looks incredibly anachronistic, i could care less about maria, dracula looks strange but it kinda works, aeon’s blah, death and golem look like shinigami (take that as you will)…
it’s just that Shanoa JUST appeared in the canon and has a really nice simple design, and they fucked that over.

Is your second sentence also aimed at me, as if to say that my want for playing this game with a normal controller is synonymous to me not appreciating this game’s non-traditional style? All I can say is that this is not the case and that news of this game having optional traditional controls has me very enthused for this title. So please don’t hyperbolize my opinions and preferences.

Its weird that they decided to redesign every character completely. Simon and Dracula you can get away with really, Maria as a kid goes back to her original appearance in Rondo of Blood but why does Eric look 12?
When I first saw Aeon, I almost thought it was Soma from Aria/Dawn of Sorrows. Still have to wonder why he isn’t in the game himself.

Most likely to avoid even more confusion? Soma is Dracula reincarnated and of course Dracula has to be in the game. Two bodies (souls?) that are exactly the same fundamentally can’t occupy the same space otherwise there will be a rift in the space / time continuim and all that mess. Soma punches Dracula in the face and reality ceases to exist. Or for our purposes, the TV screen goes dark and the Wii explodes. :looney:
Soma could be hidden, who knows.
Igarashi has a hard on for Castlevania 3 since forever. That’s why all of the heroes of Castlevania 3 are in this game, including Trevor. So naturally they are taking up quite a few slots. Can’t blame him I guess for catering towards his favorite game. Hell if I was making the game Super Castlevania characters + bosses would take priority, but ohs well…

Sano: Soma being in the game can’t be called a big deal at this point. Because Maria and Simon are in it. Simon died long before she was born. Same with shanoa. I call blasphemy is soma isn’t in it.

I’m not talking about the time thing because people from different timelines are in the game, it’s part of the game’s storyline where they are grouping people throughout different eras to fight. I’m talking about two of the same people being in the same game which is what Soma and Dracula are. So that would technically be like Simon Belmont from Castlevania 1 and Simon Belmont from Castlevania 2 being in the same game. Sure, there are major differences between Soma and Dracula but at the end of the day they are the same exact person.
Arguably, if Dracula is the one in the game that’s plotting to get everyone together, than he’s still alive… and he wouldn’t know that he was dead (for good anyway) or would be in denile about his final death or try to prevent it so he wouldn’t bother snatching his ‘good’ self from the future? Shrug Time Travel is always confusing… :wasted:
The only counter argument I can see in the game is if you believe that the Belmonts are reincarnated and Simon Belmont is a reincarnated Trevor or something like that since both are in the same game. But as time went by the Belmont lineage got closer and closer (100 year gaps wittled down to 50 year gaps, things like that), entire timelines got moved around so much so that at this point, at the very least for me it’s difficult for me to think that any Belmont ever came back reincarnation-wise. Eh they are prolly all in heaven or something…
Naw, that shouldn’t be it because, Soma even though technically is the reincarnation of Dracula’s power or soul, they aren’t physically the same and the scifi rule shouldn’t apply to souls. Otherwise stuff like Nightmare/Seigfried in Soul Caliber or Rose/Bison in the SF Alpha games wouldn’t hold water. Granted they don’t but you know what I mean.
But you are right there are probably still other characters to be shown but I get the feeling, (mainly because of Aeon’s looks) he won’t show.
I’m glad Leon or Soma isn’t in this so that they can’t utterly fuck up their character design.
