The New Yu-Gi-Oh Thread: Construct Joins Stratos in the Halfway House

There aren’t going to be any big tourneys for a while either.

And Errata is something Yugioh hasn’t used much. Basically it’s a rewording of a card. Usually, it’s to fix unintended design flaws or typos and the like or for clarification purposes. Or recently, to give older cards PSCT.

However, recently Yugioh has taken up the Naruto CCG way of Errata where they actually use them for balancing purposes. Now they can completely change the effects of the cards as they want. Catapult Turtle was sort of the first thing done. But the true first shot in this was Dark Strike Fighter. Now Dark Strike Fighter is nowhere near as fearsome as it once was, and that’s due to the errata hence why it was freed from the list.

As of the newest OCG List, Konami (at least, Konami of Japan) has started what I’ll call the Errata Initiative. Basically it seems that over the next year, they’re going to move more and more cards off the Forbidden List by using erratas to balance cards. The big one so far is Chaos Emperor Dragon. This is what they did to it with an errata. I’ll bold the relevant parts.

Chaos Emperor Dragon – Envoy of the End
Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must be Special Summoned (from your hand) by banishing 1 LIGHT and 1 DARK monster from your Graveyard, and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. **During the turn you activate this card’s effect, you cannot activate other effects. **(1) Once per turn: You can pay 1000 LP; send all cards on the field and in both players’ hands to the Graveyard, then inflict 300 damage to your opponent for each of your opponent’s cards sent by this effect.

With this you couldn’t even Yata-Lock if you wanted if Sangan or Witch came back and you can’t get a huge field of cards and burn for game. However CED is still strong and will see plenty of play.

Hell, I’ll put a list of all the cards here (and I’ll put them in the OP because the TCG will definitely follow suit).

[details=Spoiler]Ring of Destruction
You can only activate 1 “Ring of Destruction” per turn. (1) During your opponent’s turn: Target 1 face-up monster your opponent controls whose ATK is lower than or equal to your opponent’s LP; destroy that face-up monster, and if you do, you take damage equal to that monster’s original ATK, then, inflict damage to your opponent equal to the damage you took.

Not going to bold relevant there because the entire effect changed…

Crush Card Virus
(1) Tribute 1 DARK monster you control with 1000 or less ATK; check your opponent’s hand and all monsters they control, and destroy all monsters with 1500 or more ATK, then, your opponent can destroy up to 3 monsters with 1500 or more ATK from their Deck. After you activated this card, all damage your opponent takes until the end of the next turn becomes 0.

Temple of the Kings
**You can only use each effect of “Temple of the Kings” once per turn. (1) You can activate 1 Trap Card you control during the turn it is Set. **(2) You can send both this card and 1 face-up “Mystical Beast Serket” to the Graveyard; Special Summon 1 monster from your hand or Deck, or 1 Fusion Monster from your Extra Deck.

Exchange of the Spirit
You can only activate 1 “Exchange of the Spirit” per Duel. (1) If each player has 15 or more cards in their Graveyard: Pay 1000 Life Points; both players swaps cards in their Decks with cards in their Graveyards, then shuffle the Decks.

Sinister Serpent
You can only use the effect of “Sinister Serpent” once per turn. (1) During your Standby Phase, if this card is in your Graveyard: You can add this card to your hand. During your opponent’s next End Phase, banish 1 “Sinister Serpent” from your Graveyard.[/details]

@Saitsu I don’t have all that much to contribute being that my knowledge in the game isn’t as good as yours.

Also those errata’d cards are FAR too strong anyway. With the massive power creep in Yugioh, they gotta let their old archetypes come back to full power or they can’t compete.

Dragon Rulers are still the biggest mistake ever made by Konami. Full powered Dragon Rulers still beat the dogshit out of everything in the meta currently.

The power creep isn’t that bad, unless you come straight from Goat Control. Obviously if you take decks from 8-10 years ago and try to play them against the current stuff, you’d lose. But from even 5 years ago and maybe even earlier, some of the best decks then could compete now (except of course, against Full Power Dragon Rulers). Things like Tele-Dad, Frog FTK, Airblade Turbo and the like are busted enough to even hang now if they had all their stuff back. Not even hang, but win. Shaddolls would get destroyed by older top decks actually since they didnt’ rely nearly as much on the Extra Deck. Burning Abyss might be a tough out for anyone…but then again, we had both Heavy Storm and Giant Trunade back in the day.

But they can’t let all the busted decks come back out without hits. That wouldn’t solve anything. What the OCG is doing now is probably for the best. We get some old favorites back that may or may not see some use (I think post-nerf CED is still good enough to play in any Chaos decks), and Konami gets to sell the reprints of all of them. They basically are printing themselves free money.

Ruling help: Since CED says send to graveyard and card effects>game mechanics, would that mean that pendulum monsters would not go to extra deck?

Also I hope the TCG was half as good as OCG. I currently like their lists better.

If they were on the field prior to him resolving his effect, you are correct. Not that it matters as you won’t be able to Pendulum Summon for a couple of turns after you use that effect.

And take a look on the OP. I updated the list there.

I dont see the point on bringing back snatch steal. It promotes faster otks. I honestly want heavy or solemn judgment back. The TCG reeeaaally needs either of those cards back.

-Hates promoting faster OTKs
-Wants Heavy Storm back.

???

Snatch Steal is a pain, but the way I see it is, they’re basically just using it as a…really bad compromise for having to leave Vanity’s unlimited because Nekroz will exist in two months.

It’s funny though, in the OCG backrow is so damn irrelevant that they’re actually bringing back Harpie’s Feather Duster with no errata. It’s there for Pendulum Scales now more than anything. I wouldn’t want HS back here though. While Qlips do abuse Pendulums a bit too hard, that’s the fault of Qlips themselves. Pendulums, which everyone thought were broken before, actually require a TON of commitment to the field and the punishment for failure or the opponent clearing the field is absolutely severe. Honestly, I think Qlips will be the only successful Pendulum deck in the entire Arc-V era because they can always recoup their losses due to Scout and all the tutoring. And keep in mind, that’s with no Heavy around hurting things. With it, the Pendulum Mechanic simply does not exist, outside of again, Qliphorts. Not just not successful, but it’d be a detriment to build around.

And since they brought HFD in the OCG back with no errata and HS exists over there with no errata, simply put HS won’t have an errata over here. Which means chances are it’s never leaving the TCG list unless things change in a hurry. Worst part is, wouldn’t even help against most of the obnoxious backrow. People will just start running Starlight Road or The Huge Revolution is Over again. All it would help is against Vanity’s, which will likely be hit eventually anyway.

Vanity’s Emptiness destroys Nekroz. You just chain it to a ritual spell and you automatically win.

That artifact limiting hurts real bad. I was in the middle of building traptrix/artifacts. I’m a little bitter.

Yeah, and so does Naturia Beast and Vanity’s Fiend, and one of the Tyrant traps, and Djinn Releaser. Even with all of the instant wins, it’s not that easy. If it was, Nekroz wouldn’t have done a damn thing in the OCG (and that was before HFD was taken off the list).

And it doesn’t hurt that bad at all. Just play Artifact Scythe with the 1 Moraltach. There are a lot of interactions where Scythe is actually the stronger play.

WTF Dragon Rulers?

Yeah, that new Galaxy Eyes Rank 9 might’ve been a bit of a mistake.

At least we don’t have the Full Armor Galaxy Eyes that destroys face up cards.

@Saitsu‌ Thanks for the tip, I was going to do it anyway after some days of thinking. I was like, damn Scythe is 2100 atk beatstick that functions as a one sided Vanity’s Emptiness.

2200 actually but yeah. It’s a pretty big F you to things like Shaddoll Fusion.

…They’re finally arriving in April. All the OCG Exclusives your little heart desire.

I’m debating buying boxes of Secrets of Eternity.

Eh. Honestly I don’t think this set maintains much value (of course it figures that it has to be THIS set where I need a Secret and two Ultras…).

There’s a crap ton of stuff coming out in the next 3-4 months. I’d suggest saving up for that unless there’s something you absolutely need in SECE.

Wait what?

It’s been a while since I played. Are Zombies viable now? What new decks are out that aren’t plain easy to play?

There’s a booster we’re getting called World Superstars. All (but 5) of the Japanese/Korean Exclusives spanning from Legacy of the Valiant to Next Challengers will be released.

Zombies I’d say are viable, especially now that they just got a new, really strong Tuner in Unizombie and they’re also getting support in Premium Gold 2. Got plenty of tricks.

As for new decks that aren’t easy, honestly I don’t believe Shaddolls are particularly easy, at least compared to Burning Abyss and Qliphorts and especially Satellarknights.

So I won a storage auction today and got a bunch of cool stuff but what really piqued my interest was that I found these two garbage bags full of old yugioh cards. I was kind of bummed to see a good chunk of them ruined due to water damage but the ones I was able to salvage seem to be in somewhat decent condition. does anyone know a good place that I can go to sell them off? From the looks of them none seem to be more recent than late GX era.

TL;DR I found a bunch of old yugioh cards and want to sell them off.
