I just started playing ygo like a week ago and it was pretty fun, I’m still learning a lot of the cards but I’m a quick study. I don’t plan to buy any cards for now, playing online is fine for me.
If anyone wants to play on ygopro while skyping let me know.
Be wary on Dueling Network. A decent amount of players on their are complete idiots when it comes to rulings. Have the Wikia up on a tab to immediately check and reference things if you are unsure about ANY ruling or you know something’s right and the opponent is being annoying.
YGOPro takes away most of that work with automated dueling however some of their interactions can be off, especially when new cards come out.
Unfortunately, my laptop does not run YGOPro very well. So I’m stuck on DN until I figure out a way to deal with that.
Idiots on DN is why i never go back to that place.
Nigga was saying that since he MST’d my card that I couldn’t activate it. I had niggas swearing to god they con monster reborn a synchro who’s summon got negated. I got tired of arguing and i just wanted to play, so i made the switch to ygopro and never looked back. Even exchanging decks on YGO is infinitely better than on DN where you have to input every single card.
I’m looking for solid suggestions for a LP burn deck. I wanna get back at this game (with all of the new shit) slowly but I wanna play something simple, yet cheap.
To my knowledge the best burn deck is still chain burn…Which revolves around:
Basically you want cards to set up a chain that either draw or burn. Most deck lists I’ve seen look sort of like…:
Some type of battle phase ender- battle fader,swift scarecrow, or both
1 One Day of Peace
2 Chain Strike
2 Pot of Duality
DN is a browser based game so no download necessary, which is why I put it first.
YGOPro/DevPro (essentially the same system, different admin) is a downloadable program for online dueling. Both have their pros and cons.
DN:
Browser based, nothing to download.
Bigger user base meaning you’ll run into better decks.
Has Best of 3 Match Functions
Can watch other people’s duels/matches easily enough
Personal snapshot function
With very few admins, it makes it extremely hard to deal with idiots who refuse to learn correct rulings.
Some card effects are an absolute pain to use due to the system.
Cards aren’t added until physical release.
Duels will take a while compared to YGOPro or even Real Life.
YGO/DevPro:
Automated Dueling which lets card interactions happen properly and everything to happen at a quicker pace.
Deck Building is a bit quicker
Replay Functionality
Single Player/AI Functionality
They do not wait until physical release, just for confirmed art and effects.
Banlist updated quicker (not a terribly big deal, usually only a couple day/week discrepancy and there’s no guarantee that you wouldn’t want to play out the rest of the current format)
Customizable. You can put in your own card sleeves (can do it in DN as well, but only after a certain level), backgrounds and music.
Download based meaning you can’t play it anywhere and it relies on the power/memory of your comp.
Some card/ruling interactions can be off and there’s no way to get around that until it’s fixed. This happens more with new cards.
Smaller user base, and a lot don’t run the best decks. Good for casual play but bad if you’re really testing a deck for use.
No match functionality so only one on one really.
Timer to turns. Normally a good thing but if your program is running slow, or the opponent’s being an asshole or if you REALLY need to think out a move or your move is very involved…you get the idea. Will be a detriment more than anything.
The choice is pretty much yours.
And now I’m considering checking out my locals for the first time in 2 years…should be interesting.
That’s weird I run YGOPro Percy on my macbook (through Wine) no problem. It runs great for me only had a few minor issues.
I was playing a reverse burn deck (Nurse Reficule/ Bad reaction to Simochi) and I had a looot of fun with that. I know it’s not very good, but man if I get a good draw I can totally wipe someone out. Very high variance with it though.
I used to run Heal Burn, if you draw broke you win instantly but like you said, very high variance. Even moreso now that thinks like Effect Veiler and Breakthrough Skill exist. Be cautious.
Anyway, I’m on an Iron Chain kick. It can do work.
