I remember at YCS long beach I had a German bottomless trap hole, 3x german alius, 3x Italian miracle fusion and a german stratos.
In round 1 I summoned stratos and the guy asked if he can read it and he literally said “no idea what that does, got an English one?” Which I didn’t have on me cause I let my friend borrowed it. At first I thought he didn’t know so I told him, didn’t believe me. So I took out my phone and showed him and I knew I got fucked over when he said “I need a physical copy of the card so I know that wikia isn’t lying.”
Always have an English copy on you. That’s not even much of a rule shark, that’s just common sense. No reason to give your opponent a free game win because you couldn’t have an extra common on hand.
I would understand if it was cards that weren’t widely known. If he did it to my miracle fusion I would understand and accept it. But it’s stratos…even the scrubbiest player at my locals knows what he does.
I won the match so it didn’t really matter but it was just a weird thing for me.
I guess I considered stratos like solemn judgment: everyone knows what it does.
That’s why the only foreign cards in my deck right now is MST. I just want to run into a slow player. That’s the only type of player I haven’t played yet.
Ok so I just finished a duel with someone who seemed to have never seen a single card in my deck before in his life. He didn’t know that Gale the Whirlwind is a tuner and he kept complaining that I wasn’t sending my Blackwing Armor Master to the graveyard or reducing my LP when he was attacking with a powered up Shogun Shien. I’m guessing he didn’t know that Armor Master can’t be destroyed by battle nor do I take damage in battles involving it.
Then he was complaining of cheating when I kept bringing my Manticore of Darkness back every turn it got destroyed. Even with the explanation of “If Manticore gets destroyed I can special summon it during either of our End Phases by sending one Beast, Beast-Warrior or Winged Beast type from the field or my hand to the Graveyard.” Every monster in my deck is a beast type so of course I have a way to bring it back if it gets destroyed.
Oh and this took the cake. When I special summoned Dark Simorgh from the graveyard with it’s effect I was “supposedly cheating” because I banished “two random monsters” (which were Dark and Wind like the effect says) from my hand. I literally explain the entire effect of a card just in case they don’t know the effect already. Yet even with the explanation he decides to set cards down when that effect is negated by Dark Simorgh. Do people not read?
