I need some help from the fighting game community here in Nashville. I have now been playing fighting games for about 7 months and feel like I’ve gotten nowhere. The only game I am well versed in is AE and that still only earns me around 1500 pp on xbox live and an ass kicking every Tuesday at Game Galaxy. I want to pick up new games like KOF and Persona but I don’t know where to even start, considering I have no experience in any fighting game but AE. And if there’s one thing I’ve learned about the FGC, it’s that no one believes in taking it easy on anyone… regardless of skill level. So I just have a few questions to pose to everyone who visits this forum. Is anybody available in the Nashville to run a few sets with me in Persona or KOF or maybe Marvel (not sure about that one)?.. Other than AE, it will be like playing a complete noob, so I was hoping for, kinda like, a tutorial set. I don’t mean let me win, but I do mean don’t rush me down so hard that I don’t get a feel for the timing of normals or how basically to play the game. I want to get better at fighting games in general, but I feel like I’ve exhausted all my resources, so that’s why I need some help. Also, if anybody has any significant matchup tips for Abel against anybody in the cast, that would be much appreciated. I just switched my main to him recently from Ryu and the two characters couldn’t be farther apart with their offensive approach. Also, in order to get better, is it more about repetition and putting in the hours, or is it more about doing the homework and gaining frame knowledge, etc.? And if anybody wants to hang out and play vidja games, just reply to this message and I’ll send you my number. I don’t care if it’s at my place or at yours. Whichever works for you.

lol, real talk those characters dont bother me as much as they use to, i learned the best way to deal with them is by both running away and be annoying and stay in their face and make them block instead of you. marvel was never about how good you can block but how good you can dodge, the better your movement the lest likely you will be hit,start blocking then you die!

Zach - mane everyone here graduated from the “Jason Wilson School of Getting Your Ass Beat in Silence Until You Ask Him What the Fuck Just Happened.” Anyone here will gladly give you a set in any game you want, but we can’t read your mind and (speaking for myself in this next part) don’t wanna sound like a douche or insult your intelligence (unless you play Street Fighter x Tekken). If you don’t know what happened or need someone to explain a situation or setup, just ask. Short answer is yes - anyone here will play you in a practice set like that.

Depends on the player…some people take it easy but don’t make it as obvious; some are just pricks about it, some just plow through. I think the best thing to do would be playing people that are also newer to KOF and Persona…
There are plenty of guys that play both that I am sure will step up and teach you things about the games; a lot of times people expect you to learn things on your own and the other issue is not a lot of people ask questions when something is hitting them (the answer as to what to do)
Usually if you find something someone is doing and A: they won’t tell you how to stop it, or B: they don’t know how the best thing to do is going to training mode and figuring out what to do right then and there…
I don’t think many people use Abel here except for Phil sort of and I am not sure he is the right person to ask about Abel stuff…I know Josh knows more than he lets on but he would have to see this and post about it and I KNOW Severin used to use Abel a lot, so he should be able to give you some tips…
