The New TN Thread: The Flymike Haters Ball Presented by The Button!

LOL I wish I had a reason to post this, but nope!

I’ll go if there’s KoF or SF

I’ll be at a secret high level umvc3 training session so I will be mia for the rest of the evening.

Hell no you aren’t dude. You’re living proof of the power of “common sense” lol. You started having fun with Marvel 3 late AS FUCK. Idk what your plans are for TTT2, whether you’ll play, dabble, or even touch it all. But you already have a nice taste of flow of Tekken matches, plus you’re a smart player, so “hope” is an overstatement . I can only wish that one day you’ll wake up as interested and excited about Tek, as you are about bingo demon flip plink cancels, and take all the bait and just become a regular and true player. But everyone has their personal likes and it’s hella cool how you and others actually gave it a run.

Most of our Tekken players are just “memphis niggas”, so to possibly have other guys who actually will go to tournaments or dedicate some of themselves to learning or becoming better in a game, that’s what we’re lacking and what I sometimes hope for. Basically, what the Capcom scene has here. Because even though we have heads who play Tekken, we only have 4-5 now who will consistently try to go to tournaments for it. And that’s me being VERY generous. But house sessions and casuals, we have that and it’s gonna be overkill next month. So no one in or around Memphis area will be able to complain that they aren’t able to get matches or exp in that game. Because that’ll be impossible.

Didn’t know you were coming to Arkansas.

Any of you guys coming to Bama on Sept 1st? This will probably be the last Tekken 6 tourney and our guys want to send it out with a bang. ATL will be there and we know you TN folks arent too far behind them when it comes down to dat Iron Fist!

I should be there, but dont expect me to enter anything thanks to being so broke thanks to school. However, I will play tons of KOF casuals and Rae may possibly have me run the brackets since there will be so many games, including GG, another game you cats are godlike in along with us. Just want to say that Doren2k ain’t here but we still got Raekwon along with Solidplay/Shinobi/Pat/etc.

@ Nagato: Yes. And fuck ATL. Them niggas gas money will be in my pocket.

@Nagato i’ll see if I can make it. They don’t know about Miguel…jk.

I STILL like playing it - but it’s never at fight night. I’d be happy to sit and play it. That game is fun as shit; it’s one where you can lose 15 in a row and then win that ONE game and erupt in shit talk. I have no one to play AE with anymore, so I’ve been playing Marvel since that is what everyone else is playing… sad but true.

i don’t even remember my combos in T6. and i can’t try them right now since my copy was jacked.

Edit: Squab, i’ll play AE with you. Whoever gets knocked down loses in that match up, since neither of us have any wake-up options.

LMAO. Why don’t you and Rich ever play each other? Also Jason too, but I doubt he has any extra time these days.

Yea it’s definitely that true hype. We’re both probably busier than before, and when we’re home, forced to watch shit (me with reality shows and you with Batman marathons). But if you ever have an urge to play, get at me. Sev and Abe stopped hitting me up for games because they’re bad people.

Lies. Goddamn wretched LIES. You have new shit every 8 months that you decide to touch the game. That “stolen copy” story is just a facade that you conjured up as a coping mechanism to deal with the guilt you face internally for dealing in the Peacocks, Aracunes, and Teddies.

It is the truth! If you want to come ransack my house to look for it claiming you’re looking for faulty coaxial cables, have at it. If you find it, that’ll make me happy because that’s less games i have to buy back.

@Mike cause he’s free:). But no really he’s had complications the past month that I found out about Saturday so he can’t.

You shouldn’t have to ask about Jason. He’s a dad now lol. Can’t be all HERPDERP FIGHTING GAYMES GUISE!!! Now.

Man… I want to (and probably will) get TTT2… I’m just afraid the learning curve is gonna put me out after a while. I had T6 and played it for a good while, but lack of any local players other than Cody at the time (if you begged him to play you in it that is) and lack of any decent player experience kinda made me just give up on it. It was a lot of work for no pay off… But if T2 gets a lot of attention here I’ll gladly try to pick it back up and dance around in scrubville. How hard is it really to get good at that game? Especially since it’s two characters you have to learn for Tag… jeez.

Also I feel like I have to play T2 as a way to finally run into Mike at a tournament and can finally give him a five/bro fist for internet jokes.

This mafucker right here. You get mad busy on Friday’s and when was the last time I got a “hey sev im in the area wanna get some games in text?”. Baby girl be pre-booking your fridays a month out lol. I will be looking for you at some point this Fri.

Also Adrian is fulla shit. He didn’t loose T6 he traded it in to get a discount on P4 THE BUTTON special edition and just didn’t want to have to tell anyone. But he still knows how to do stupid Alisa cumbos

Squab: If you want T6 at fight night I can prolly do that this week. I cant make ARK anyway so we can get those matches in and I can play Marvel as well.

Yo I sneezed so I checked the thread and uh so we got tekken at fight night now?

@ Adrian: It’s probably under your Persona 4 Collectors Edition Teddie quilt. But it’s no use in getting another copy of T6 this close to Tag, for you at least. Just play it wherever or borrow it from someone if you wanted to practice or something.

@ Myles: I understand. And I had to mention Jason regardless of daddy duties just because I know he knows how to play lol.

@ Billy: Cody wanted all you guys to play Tek. If he wasn’t as eager while you were around, it’s probably because you came in on the ass-end of him trying to train guys, play consistently, set up stuff to keep interest, and everyone dropped it. We talk almost everyday or so and have been for a few years. So I know whenever whoever wanted to play and when stuff ceased lol. Dimo was the only one who hung on and it shows. He’s started up a dedicated scene in Florida and got a squadron of players, one guy who I hear might become a pretty standout player. But I know that if he thought you were kinda serious about learning he would’ve kidnapped you to play or something. He was very starved for Tek there, which led to him actually picking up and playing SF, MK, and other fgs.

I could lie to you, but I won’t. It is very difficult to become a great Tekken player. “Good” is relative to what you seek to accomplish or what level you intend to play the game. Most players are going to be casual-intermediate. High level you’re going to put in a ton of work and take a lot of lumps. Especially if you haven’t been playing for years and have no experience. But there’s players who have picked up the game maybe a year or so ago and became very solid, mainly because they’ve put in the work, but also because they’ve got their hands dirty in an active and reputable scene. There’s also guys who don’t have a scene and have gotten decent on their own by traveling or utilizing their resources. In TN, there’s many nonTekken players who do like to compete in tournaments. And if they pick up other games they may want to be “on the level” asap. If they aren’t seeing the amount of progress they’d like or aren’t beating people who’ve actually been playing for years, then they get highly discouraged. I can tell you right now, without a shadow of a doubt, that Tekken isn’t one of those games where you’re going to be a relatively new player and beat someone solid and experienced. Upsets happen, but you’d have to hit a certain level to even understand how to manipulate minds or the flow of the match in your favor or to even get by on shenanigans, gimmicks, etc. But 9 times out of 10, the victor is going to be decided by whoever straight up outplays the other. And for that, it’s going to REQUIRE a mix of knowledge, experience, and other factors. That dictates the type of player. But for that player to be successful or relevant, he’s going to have a pretty even mix or something is going to be more to compensate for something else. Execution isn’t in the equation as that’s the easiest thing about the game. Executing proper movement might be a challenge but combos are dirt easy. So basically without ranting, you can always play the game without compromising fun or time you don’t wish to invest. There’s different levels and layers and you decide which one you want to play on. Everybody pretty much wants to win tourneys one way or another, but there’s no character that you’re going to pick or technique to exploit that’ll propel a mediocre player to net consistent wins against solid players. Against casual people or some intermediates, yea of course though.

And lol, yea man you’ll definitely find me at pretty much whatever has to do with Tekken here, so long as I’m free or don’t have other plans. So if you do decide to dive in, I look forward to playing and kicking it with ya. Also if you have any questions feel free to ask or whatev.

@ Sev: That’s the thing though! I’m rarely ever down that way anymore unless I’m working, visiting fam and friends, or getting a haircut. And I get haircuts on the clock while at work now to free up my off days. And pretty much whenever I’m that way is later evenings. So it’s not a thing of my being in the area so much as you should just hit me up if you want me to come down for games. Been playing with Marcus, Rell, Tommy, and Mick the past week or so at random times on random days so it hasn’t been a real planned or hosted thing. This is mostly how I find time to actually play anything nowadays.

Mike: Ragnarok is right, I don’t have time to barely breathe anymore…the baby is 17+ hours of madness and today was one of the worst…she’s still up…

I will play TTT2 a little bit but I really just want a Zafina/Nina tag combo

Lol nah forget the tag combo. It’s OVER for you for awhile lmao.

Though Tommy has three girls: a 6 year old, and 1 1/2 year old twins. I always wondered how he was able to play the game at home. I finally saw the other night. I’m an idiot when it comes to what children are capable of at certain ages. I didn’t know that they were that smart, or mobile lol, basically THAT functional and shit under the age of 2. So I see how he “kind of” manages to get a few games in, but I know there’s days where he gets flatout destroyed too. Your daughter is much younger though so you’re definitely out of commission. You won’t be able to practice your “elite parenting” until she’s able to navigate the Netflix Kids menu by herself or something lol.

Props to the dads though. Real talk. Orel and Tripp too. I hope the day never comes that little Sebastian is able to comprehend that his father is a scrub.

I used to get about 35-45 minutes a night being married BEFORE kids, now I am lucky to get 1 hr a WEEK right now…I am definitely GGPO at this point…

It wouldn’t be so bad with just the lack of playing, but now I know how Shawn felt all zombified…I haven’t been able to get sleep in months and I don’t even know how I drive at this rate, it’s getting pretty bad…
