Still don’t understand all the hate in SFXT, it’s just supposed to be fun, I’m having a blast with it. Yes, SFAEv2012 is obviously more skilled and that is a game I consider to be a “serious” fighting game, but considering they had to mesh the two series, they did a pretty good job.
Need I remind everyone how everyone took MVC3 to be a SERIOUS fighting game in here for awhile? That was one of the funniest things ever considering all the complaining about SFXT.
FlyMIke: You guys like those “combo” games for some reason = P Guilty Gear, KOF, Tekken, MK, all of them are juggle crazy and rote memory on the big stuff…
I like all of those games though, just not “serious” enough to play after a couple of months…I think if KOF internet improved I’d be playing that but until then…I’m probably going to go back on Tekken online soon though as it seems a LOT better as of last week…
MaxNInja: That “bug” is also in MK and it’s not even with analog only. You can tap “Up” and not even go up, lol, but Analog play is not really taken as much into consideration. I’ve never had that problem with this game but I only use stick.
Nowadays everything is rushed and you get to deal with patches for EVERYTHING just kind of how it is.
I noticed at fight night everything is spread out now just like in the 90s when you have “too many” fighting games to choose from. Poor Myles has to beg ME to play Tekken (now that is telling). We actually had Marvel, SFXT, KOF, and SFAE going…
I feel bad not playing KOF with everyone, I really like the game but I seriously only ever played that game online the first couple of weeks and then at Fight Nights on Tuesdays randomly for like 20-30 minutes…
I’m not going to call SFxT a great game… It does have LOTS of flaws. But I prefer it to the dryness of AE. Even if Vega wasn’t beastly, his combos actually make sense now. The online is pretty good. The aesthetics? Take them or leave them. I’m more focused on actually fighting. I don’t even notice when the gems activate shrug. Every game isn’t for everybody. I respect that. But this game is for me until Skullgirls and GGAC+ comes out. Mike, of all people, knows I’ve tried to play Tekken many many times. I’ve bought the game like thrice. But I just can not get into it. It’s not because it’s a bad game. I’ll suggest it to anybody. But it’s just not my game.
Also, what fighting game doesn’t have bugs/glitches? A kara throw is a glitch. How many times have you woken up into getting hit by something you clearly blocked because “Tekken said so”? I won’t even start with Mahvel. I guarantee TTT2 will have glitches. It’s just part of the genre. Are we happy to have stupid glitches? Of course not. But we can always anticipate that they will be there.

Eh, yeah I guess but in 4, 90% of the kara stuff was intentional. Ken’s kara throw might as well have been a trial.
I prefer the dryness of 4. SFxT is like all of the shit I don’t like about 4, and not much of what I do. And like Mike said, compared to other games the combos in this game just aren’t that cool. They are… interesting, because they are just odd looking, but compared to KOF combos they aren’t as impressive or fun.
I don’t actively hate on SFxT like most people, I’m just having trouble liking it. I think if Akuma and Poison were really good I would have liked the game more initially. Man, Akuma is pooptown. I don’t know if people are just missing something but he’s not got much. Maybe if you could like OS opponents rolls with his new super, he’d have a leg up. Speaking of which, that super is awesome, but it doesn’t make up for his ass-ness.
Also, I can’t believe how many people bitch about the graphics but never talk about voices. If you’re gonna talk about shit that doesn’t matter, the voices are absolutely terrible. I can’t take half of the cast seriously. Graham and I were cracking up the whole first day we played it because Vega just squeaks when you hit him.
I think the game’s ok. I don’t see any reason to just bash it (even though Mike did so quite hilariously). I do, however, care about the aesthetic aspect of it which overall isn’t just absolutely horrendous. It looks extremely cartoonish and the proportions are… questionable but I think they did that with younger gamers in mind. I give em points for consistency too for it being on par with SFIV. I can admire the artists’ ability to make something look like it’s in the same field as a previous production, which is something I as an artist can’t say I can do quite yet. Can’t say I’m looking forward to TxSF though because for one, I’ve never played a Tekken game seriously and I gotta admit I’m not diggin realistic Ryu too much but opinions change.
And Kang is not gonna get dropped even though I can’t get as much play time in as I’d like because of the sucky online. Shit’s too real kid. I still get bodied but I fuckin love that game.
Edit: Also linking into chains is an awesome concept. Cammy and Chun are looking pretty good in this game for that “buff”, if you will, alone.
Come on Justin, when you say that the proportions are questionable what you really mean is that you are salty because after all these versions of SF4 capcom still has not given Cammy more of dat ass.
