Stay far far far away from Hugo if you want to live. After playing X extensively with Hugo on point the only somewhat bad match ups I’ve run into are
Guile, Raven, Vega, and Rolento. The only reason is they can successfully keep him out. Or once I get in they can easily escape.
Bison keeps Hugo out he really has little answer for him in my opinion…Rolento is just fun no matter what you do because the jab is so easy…better than Alpha 3
Ok update on the memphis tournament!
It will be on may 26 so mark your calendars! All the info regarding it will be up by the end of this week or beginning of next, we r trying to lock the venue this week so I don’t wanna post all the information until that is settled first.
Glad you liked that breakfast spot. That place is like oh you want food? Here have a MOUNTAIN of food! Did we mention it tastes great?
GG’s to Maxninja at T&G yesterday! You better never lose to Marduk ever again after that 100-plus game set.
Jason check yo pm’s chief!
Lol you guys are funny about this DLC mess.
Also, fuck am I glad I got a Vita lolol. Between badass Uncharted, Lumines Techno Crack Opera, UMVC3 Hitboxes, and 50 SFxT characters, I’m digging this fucking game system hoooyeah
ChrisB- Lol I’ll see if I can get one started
Well you better not lose to a poison/Juri team again. Even though they are a rare team to fight.
So anybody going to be at GG on Tuesday who wants to run some SFxT, hopefully on the PS3 because that’s all I have a stick for? Also is there a PS3 copy there or should I bring mine?
And another random question, I’ve been to Fight Night twice now and haven’t seen one game of Marvel. Does anybody here play it?
I play Marvel and I’ll be at fight night.
I still think an awesome business model would be old school rules. Put 15 extra characters on the disc, and time release them. New character every 2 weeks or so, unlocked for free, like og MVC2 arcade. Of course, we are no longer in that day and time
Ok guys, last couple of things I’m gonna say on the topic then I’m gonna leave it alone:
Whut?
Hahahahaha - YOOOOOOOOOO - I’m NOT trying to say that it’s ok in KoF. I’m not trying to be a dick here but I really don’t know how to make it any clearer than that, lol. DLC is an issue in all fighting games as well as non-fighters this generation. The ONLY reason I can stomach it in KoF is because it’s only three characters and the game didn’t retail for full price. KEEP IN MIND - I still don’t like it. Now, with SFxTek, it’s just taken to an extreme that’s, IM MY OPINION, unacceptable. How many characters are in this game? 50+? 12 of which are ON THE DISC? That’s a 1/4th of the cast. They are making you pay for 25% of the cast that’s already on the disc. I just don’t get it man.
I think Angry Joe said it the best in his video - I do want to support good games and support developers that make good games. If you notice in Joe’s video, they actually say the game is pretty good, although it takes a backseat to the primary issue. But like him, I don’t think I can support that kind of business practice.
If it’s at a gathering or fight night and I’m waiting for a Kang or AE setup to get free, I might hop on it. Or if JFord cracks his knuckles, looks dead at me and asks, “You wanna play cross?” I might pay about $20 or $30 bucks for this game new as it stands right now.
In discussing the game itself - Jason - you said you think Bison can keep Hugo out…HOW? Lol. Now keep in mind I don’t know what I am doing in this game, but everything I was trying was either getting beat clean or eaten up by super armor. Also, I don’t think I’m going to be able to play Bison in SFxTek if I plan to keep playing AE competitively. He’s too different and I don’t want my timing to be messed up in AE. I do still want to try Lars and maybe one or two of the other DLC chars though…
COMPLETELY UNRELATED - I am working on a forum post with all the MWC info. I know some of you guys are members of other communities - Dustloop, TZ, etc, so if you want to post the info there, go for it. I’m going to post in all the Southeast threads today and tackle each region over the course of this week. Does anyone know of a good method of posting in a ton of different threads? I don’t mind doing it but that wait between posts makes it a bit of a pain in the ass.
Christmas time for me this week, NCAA tourney time and brackets out today! 4 straight days of basketball starting Thursday!
Basketball is the worst sport ever invented, next to Curling and Equestrian
Chris KOF was 59.99 when it came out, so it was full price…even if it is only 3 characters it’s still $65 with tax and $15 for characters, $80 for KOF. SFXT hasn’t really charged anyone for anything yet but you can’t use the argument about the game not being full price because it was…I mean, if they charge for characters keep in mind they have NEVER DONE THIS before. They release games instead with new characters and balance changes. MK and KOF have been doing this for the past year and I think Blazblue as well…
About Bison…Hugo has to charge armor but if he tries using it he is vulnerable at the end…He has to chase Bison and his jump is one of the two slowest in the game. You can anti air him with Double strong or just stand RH at the point when he is moving…he has to get in but the screen seems “longer” because of the game speed being slower, so you can definitely control space. Think of it as a super crazy lame turtlefest.
The only thing this guy understands is the fact that Capcom knew this was going to go over badly. Like, no matter what you think about the subject, Capcom and everyone else knows people really hate on-disc DLC. I just feel bad for Cal… er, Seth Killian and that other dude always in Capcom interviews getting asked dumbshit questions like " How do you feel about working for Capcom, being that they are the biggest meanest bullies ever? I’M ONLY GOING TO BUY 4 OF THE 5 VERSIONS OF -THIS- GAME YEAH SUCK IT CAPCOM. "
Overall, I think everyone massively overreacts to this sort of thing, but it still would have been smart for them not to do it. They could have just never made a peep about the DLC characters, had them all 90% done at launch like did, and then left them off of the disc, not revealing them until a few months from release and nobody would have known and nobody would have gotten all butthurt.
On the other hand, you can’t please anyone on the internet. Ever. You could just hand out money on the internet and some guy would still be on a forum complaining that he has to use paypal or some shit.
Wow Vandy won the SEC title, MADNESS
I just found my gamestop receipt the game retailed for $49.99.
Not everyone had it for $49.99…Game Express still sells it for $59.99 even though the game went down in price.
Sorry. I just assumed since everywhere around me sold it for 49.99 including Walmart, Kmart, Best Buy, Game Haven, and the other game stores around that it would have been the going price. I even remember it was that price on Amazon with free release day shipping. SRK made a big deal about the release price also. So places must have been jumping up the price.
There’s something to be said for creating good will with your fans, for sure. The key to being laid back about it, though, is to realize two things. One, that corporations exist to make money, and two, we are not actually entitled to anything. I know it feels like they owe you something when you’ve been a loyal fan for however many years, but in reality they owe you exactly what you paid them for. Plus, SFxT, as it is, is a more complete game that vanilla MvC3 was last year. Marvel put out 12 new characters the same year, but released them on a $40 disc.
I still don’t LIKE having to pay to unlock content on the disc, but this goes back to the whole concept of “you don’t actually own the content on the disc, you own a license to use it” thing. It’s not a ripoff because you knew up front what you were paying for, and you got exactly that. We also don’t know what the price point will be on the additional characters, what else is coming with it (other new content, balancing tweaks, etc.), or anything like that. Not taking anything away from anyone complaining about the business model in general withholding content we might’ve otherwise already had, but the money is insignificant, and it’s certainly not a valid reason to skip the game entirely. I’m also opposed to essentially punishing the developers who worked hard on this because over business practices outside of their control.
A quick word on DLC in general: yes, sometimes it can be shady, like when content is intentionally cut from the finished product to be sold as DLC later. However, look at what we get in return. I read a lot of stories about content that got cut from older games because it wasn’t feasible to delay the game longer to include it. Nowadays, if the game is successful, we can get that content later as DLC. Plus, with the development cost of games being what it is right now, publishers are less willing to take risks, but if a developer can cut down on that cost by releasing a smaller game sooner, then amending it with DLC if it finds an audience, we can sometimes get games that otherwise wouldn’t have been released at all. You take the bad with the good, but overall I like the way things are now better than what they were ten years ago.
