The New TN Thread: Fried Chicken and Tekken

Anyone for MK tomorrow (Wednesday)? Anyone at all?

I main Yun and Raiden. I’m always smiling.

I might be down Cody. I’ll keep you posted.

cool deejay bro

So I’m free from classes for the next few months, should I pick up MK?

I also picked up Tekken 6, so if the netcode isn’t shit and anyone wants to play, add me.

p.s. I’m terrible at Tekken, but got to learn something, no one plays 3s anymore :frowning:

I’m actually gonna play that (and use Hugo lol) when it comes to XBL. Apparently, they got tons of funding for that game, so hopefully the online play is legit.

I pictured Mike actually saying “uppercut drawls off” at work earlier and had to suppress laughter at my desk.

But MAYNE, I feel you on the balance changes. When I saw all they were changing on Kung LowDownDirtyShame was his damage I was like…are you dicking me?

I immediately thought about the Marville 3 Sent nerf and how everyone thought he was ass and people were jumping ship when they were failing to realize that dude’s damage wasn’t nerfed. Yeah, he dies in one combo now but WHO FUCKING DOESN’T IT’S MARVEL.

Taking the balances a bit further, I’ve talked to several peeps about this and would like to get a consensus among you all. I personally think the first attack giving the player that lands it a free stock of meter is retarded. Look at characters like Kung and Raiden. If they aren’t getting the first attack then the person using them needs to switch mains, especially Kung. You have a situation where a very powerful character is rewarded basically with a breaker for landing the first hit. Then, if the opponent lands a hit and attempts to start an offense, guess what? Breaker, then they are right back on the defensive. Seems like a very odd design decision.

That is a photorealistic artist rendering of Jacob Ford.

Wednesdays are shit for me as far as kicking it, as you know Cody, but depending on when you guys are up there I might come through. When are you leaving out for FL?

Somewhere Mon - Wed.

Ha, good online from a Capcom game? Now you’re just asking for too much.

Cody was telling me there’s a combat code to turn that off, but Tom Brady said it’s part of the game and needs to be left in for tournaments. And since everyone apparently has a foot long boner for everything this dude says, TO’s are going with it.

The hilarious thing is, the code’s actually called “Tournament Mode”.

Bionic Commando online was amazing when people still played it, as was Lost Planet. They do my things right, just not your fighting games.

Cody - word. We’ll kick it before then.

What have you done??

But yeah I was playing with someone (shit pat, was it you?) and we all 1’s and found tournament mode by accident. I distinctly remember remarking on/laughing at the fact that it was called tournament mode.

RE - Capcom fightan netcode. I beg to differ. SF’s online is fine overall. HDR has some of the best online in the business. It seems John’s main game these days is marvel, and Marvel’s is unplayable (unfortunately).

Virtua Fighter 5 shits on everyone though when it comes to online. That has nothing to do with the discussion, I just wanted to mention VF5’s awesome online.

I think it was on Eventhubs where I read an interview that explained how 3S got a ridiculous amount of funding. However, they also said that no balance changes would be made, and that nothing was redrawn. Surely some decent netcode will be thrown in…

LMAO @ “foot long boner for Tom Brady” and the fact that it’s really called tournament mode.

You’re my favorite just because you mentioned Virtua Fighter 5 sir. …If I play MK with you, will you play VF with me? XD You can have all the enjoyment from beating around my scrubby Jade with Liu Mang or whomever the fuck you wish.

I still will never understand why that game hasn’t caught on. Patrick can explain it to me 100 times over and I still can’t believe it.

Further, I can’t believe I got people to play Arcana Heart with me before Virtua Fighter. …I can’t be the ONLY person who respects and enjoys VF right?

I think the first-hit meter thing is also dumb. I like breakers though. I don’t know why people bitch about those. I think they just need to tone meter building down as a whole. Maybe have 4 meters in all but build it slower. I’ll get hit with Kano’s throw x-ray just because its literally 9 seconds into the match, but since he got first hit and built just a bit more meter he has x-ray, and I’m just not expecting him to have it so fast. Also it’s fast and I expect to be able to jump from the throw at the last second like in SF. Ain’t work.

I wish I liked MK more so I could play top tier. I don’t even really care for the game, I just like Noob. Hopefully they get their shit together and buff him. Fags. So far they seem to be putting a nice bit of balancing effort into it, though. That’s good I guess. Not like Capcom, " Well super was too balanced, so here’s Yun. Oh and buff Fei Long. Derpity derp derp. I’m Ono, and I hate the fans. Also, I eat shit. " Now he’s trolling people pretending like they are going to release two more characters to fill the remaining slots, and people are jerking it thinking Alex and R. Mika are going to get added.

Yes.

They don’t need to buff Noob, the meter is fine, breakers are great, and if you want to stop eating Kano X-ray, stop getting hit by that dumb thing. If you see he has full meter, keep distance. Shit you’re Noob, you should be at distance anyways.

Dumb.

It’s slow, you hear like 8 million sounds indicating Kano is about to buttslam you, and you still eat x-ray. That’s like lol. Shit, just noob teleport out of it, you won’t connect but you won’t eat 41% either

Yeah, MVC3 is hilarious online. SF4 I tend to had more problems then not, but hey, could be just the internet at most places I played online at. People should be playing Brink or Portal 2 right now though. They’re actually fun games.

Question - “Yo guys, I don’t have a PS3 and can’t play MAG, whats a good shooter like it?”

Response - “um, well Brink, but its laggy, they shoehorned in Mirror’s Edge controls, there are only a handful of players on each team, some of the levels have chokepoints where the game can stalemate every time, the guns all sound like they are firing underwater, and it’s 40 bucks more than MAG. go get it now gogogo”

I guess maybe if you’ve got no other choice, Brink is a good game. You’ll have more fun fighting with the ‘Capcom netcode’ though.

Liu MANG runnin wit more
Zebras than the zoo, mang

Dude, VF5 was my shit. If we were still in the days where a new SF, or shit any fighting game for that matter, was nothing but a wet dream, I’d be all over it. That game is just so complex at high level you like, can’t play other games. That and at this point, I’d have to re-learn all my Jacky and Eileen horseshit.

It has a special place in my heart though. It was the first game I played on stick and was instrumental in helping me get acclimated with it. It also is just a ton of fun. Shit, Koontzey, next time we chill, I’ll knock the dust off of my characters and we’ll get some games in. It’s not like I gotta play the shit at tourney level, lol.

Edit: Someone (Glasscock? Richard?) linked this recently, but reposting for epicness - http://teamteamwork.muxtape.com/.

This shit is dope, and they are letting you name your price, which is amazing. I think all artists should do this
