Yes, actually… you probably saw this too… but my game drastically changed in the short amount time I played you.
The main thing I learned (other than the character specific stuff you showed me) was: Block more, but do more. I wasn’t being aggressive enough I think, at first. Positioning is important too. I think knowing matchups will help a lot more, I haven’t played against (or even seen) every character so I don’t know what the heck some of the moves even are.

3-3-4-teleport-shock grab-3-3-up blast-dash-3-3-superman is flashy as fuck.
The problem is that it does 41% where a much simplier version does 39%.
There is very little incentive in this game to learn the execution heavy combo’s because there’s
always a variation that does almost the exact same damage but is 10x easier to execute in match play.

But yeah I feel you jake. Also when you factor in positioning it just seems to make more sense to do a lower damage variant of a combo in certain situations. That could be said for any game, but spacing seems very paramount in MK.

No I didn’t know she had pre patch sent health thats crazy. I kept hitting her with stuff that KOs most people easy and she still had almost a third life. I couldn’t figure out what I needed to do for her to die. Then when she did Dante would roll up and pretend the match was just DMC 3.5 or something and go to town. Still very good games and though it drives me nuts I learn something from each time we play.
