It’s kinda the opposite in Memphis, the most played game here is MvC3, not so much on MK but maybe that will change because of how many people said they thought the game was gonna be stupid and are now playing it.
I’m getting the hang of it but I’ll always be die hard Street Fighter, waiting for it’s return with public-wide AE lol.
Lawl at the MK9 whining. Should prob wait until after you’ve entered a semi-legit tourney first before coming to end-all conclusions. Tom Kung Lao is pretty fucking crazy, no doubt, but so are a few other characters. Just right now it’s the obvious and people crying because they don’t know how to respect certain stuff and panic and die. Give the game a second to actually be played and see how it grows, whether it’s a minuscule amount or drastically, before calling bs. I already think the general consensus on most chara standings and how they’re played is horseshit. And how the community rides premature tierlists until the tourney results come in. And there’s masses of scenes playing the game like it’s something other than what it is. Eww.
And shame on you Richard for being the first one to drop the soap. Even before the SF players, who are actually having fun with the game. What’s crazy is YOU were the one hyping the game and defending it against opinions before it even released, and afterwards when you won that tourney. Dude, you got 3 days. Just learn Kabal like you originally wanted and rock it. Hell, he might be the one to “break” the game in 3 months, then you’ll put him back as your avatar and try to get this thread deleted from cyberspace. Every MK game had bullshit. You just deal. Less focus on doing shit. More reaction, anticipation, and mental fuckery.
Lmao yea I’ve said that was pretty much the best thing I’ve ever seen in any fg cutscene. 2nd goes to Onaga flying away with Shao Kahn in MKD intro lol.
He swears up and down that he wants to play little girl anime arcana fart 3 if we had the time and consistency to meet up and practice. Dude really will play anything. Having that hunger to reach out and sink someone’s face in with your shiny vidya game fists is a necessary evil…
This semester is about to release me from Hell in a few days and I’m getting back on fighters. Pat, Billy, Phil Shin Engine, the rest of the local M’boro crowd, I’d like to get together more over the summer. I want to stick with AH3 because it’s so stupid, fewer people will pick it up and realize how fun it is. There’s competition to be had there but because the competitive scene is so small and quiet, you still see lots of people just having fun with it – and figuring cool shit out in the process. Marvel I’m sort of interested in and only because I wanna rep my team hard and really learn how to utilize Spencer. I’ve believed in Combomatic Arm since before launch, now I gotta learn that mess. The rest of my team is pretty much up for grabs, I’m gonna basically forget everything I think I know and start over. Arthur is a neat little ace in my back pocket but I’m not sticking with him, he’s pretty much transparent at this point. Morrigan might be nice to keep for meter building. I haven’t put enough time into Cap or Taskmaster to say which one I want to stick with but they’re both nice. Considering Wolverine or X23 for the speed factor. Tinkered with Spidey but having Spencer/Taskmaster/Spidey is gonna make me all kinds of dyslexic because three different web swings lmao.
It’s a different beast, for sure. Footsies are more important but also less, if that makes any sense, because of the homing button aka MASH YOUR THUMB INTO THE BUTTON THAT MAKES YOU FLY DIRECTLY INTO YOUR OPPONENT. Some Arcana give you Fedex Express Return To Sender Fuck You Active For Years dashes as well – Tyr gives you a fuckall dash that has a big spear on the front of it. Footsies start at midscreen, farther than people are used to at first. Lots of different projectile types means you have an arsenal of options. How people use their Arcana is different from person to person and lets you really project exactly how you want to play the game. I use a character that’s nasty once she gets in close and pair it with an Arcana that lets me teleport anywhere around the player – above, behind, all that mess…and I’m still not happy and want to experiment with other combos. Things like that let you really experiment with wacky stuff and encourages you to keep thinking about what works for you instead of falling back on youtube combos and tier lists.
Combo system finally makes sense to me. I thought the only way to link specials into your combos was to use the same button that the last normal shared with the special input.
Now that I’ve cleared that up it makes the game enjoyable. Learning Kung cheese right as we speak.
I’ll be at the tourney but may only be able to enter MvC. It’s my sister’s graduation but ill hopefully leave there at like 11:30. Not sure what I’d be able to enter.
