The New Tennessee Thread: Raiden... IS the answer!

REO playing Cyber Sub-Zero doesn’t count. Is Hakan good because I can beat a lot of people with him? You know how many Cyber Sub-Zeros we had at the nationals? One. And that was because Perfect Legend tried to use him to beat Ermac. Cyber is not that great. If he was people would be all over the place with him like Sagat/Nakoruru/Kung Lao from specific games.

He’s an og Cali MVC player. Tennessee isn’t on the same level as those guys in Street Fighter or Marvel. The only game Tennessee is on a National “top” level on is Tekken. Better comp, better experience; etc. I know I don’t play Marvel but demographic wise and ability wise we would have to have gatherings and sessions ALL THE TIME to catch up…

It doesn’t make you bad to lose to him. He’s stupid good and his team is gdlk. I would say though, yes he is on a higher level. Nothing wrong with that. He plays constantly and his comp is crazy good and much more abundant. He just won the last Wednesday Night Fights, so that’s pretty damn good considering Marn, Justin and Combofiend are there most of the time and don’t exactly clean up for free. Its very tough comp. West coast seems much better at Marvel.

Arson: Also in regards to the tier lists out, a “tier” list is usually voted on by players. Tom Brady and REO just each made one on their own observations, but if you actually talk to people, Cyber isn’t going to be up there. Think about it logically, the matchups, how the heck does he have an advantage against the characters supposedly below him because that dive kick sure isn’t the reason.

u don’t no u play jax

Arson: LULZ poor BlackJAXXX

I think Viscant is the guy who I beat on XBL (SF4) and he I had no idea that he was supposed to be hot shit and he called me a scrub and said that he was a pro and shit like that.

Yeah, I know who he is. It just bothers me to struggle that much just to take down one character. ONE CHARACTER! I also hate his stupid face. lol

Also Jason, you and MWC kind of got a shoutout last night on WNF (watched the archives this morning). That was neat.

True. I have to also remind myself that he’s played more ranked matches online than I have played both online AND offline. It’s understandable that he wins, but I just get blown up so fast…

Jas: I don’t think Memphis can beat Nashville in MK right now. The MMs that happened at after the Nasvhille tournament a few weeks ago were all dominated by Jacob’s Raiden. Marcus, Mike and Bishop might have found a way to beat Raiden since then, but it hasn’t come up again so I don’t know.

Bishop: Glad you are ok man. Thanks for updating everyone. Also the “I’m alive” made me think of Piccolo after being fused with Nail, LOL.

Dream: Out of curiosity, do any of the patch changes surprise you? I remember you mentioned stuff kept being changed before it went gold.

Chit: Stuff gets changed so much when they make these post MK games it’s crazy, it’s impossible to keep track…they knew Kung Lao did more damage than anyone else with combos, it was a train wreck waiting to happen…what did shock me is that they toned down Reptile stuff (he’s really good but no one used him that much) and that they added a low to Kano who was already really good as it was. No one knew about the Cyrax trap (he was near the bottom before) but it makes him fun to use with one in there…lots of weird problems that still need to be addressed but that’s just how it is these days with patches and such…

Well, I beat Viscant’s keepaway team (Deadpool/Dorm/Doom), so that gave me a little confidence. Then I fought his weird Iron Man/Tron/Sent team. Almost ran it back with Wesker, but I got frying panned. LOL

The infamous J Willy ranking list. New fighting games just wouldn’t be the same without them.

Mike - Fountain Stage, Town Square, Schoolyard, and Dusk are livest BGMs. All are sick though.

Lol @ BlackJAXXX.

People still on to meet up at GG tomorrow? Again I get off at 6 and plan to head straight there.

I am powerless without multiquote…

Good to hear you are ok, Bishop. Heard about it last night but had no way to really check up on you since I don’t know your # and my power was out all night at home. :frowning:

Mind fucked. This class is killing my brain.

@Chris Breezy: Press Reply and copy+paste that ish. It’s a pain, I know.

What you really meant to say was that you’re not sure Memphis can beat Jacob and Kodee right? I’m pretty sure that besides them and Dream(If he uses Smoke or Raiden lol) anyone else will probably get mopped.

Fuck that, I have a knife and a ball, and my eye’s all read and shit

Yeah basically but that means they would have the three strongest players in TN with two of them using S-tier. It’s not a knock on Memphis at all, but that’s just where things are at the moment. I still have not seen a decent strategy from anyone, on a stream or anywhere, to consistently beat a good Kung Lao (for some reason, people are really slow to catch on to Raiden other places).

The only person in the state outside of Memphis and Nashville I know that is pretty good in TN is Trung, but he doesn’t really care about the game so I’m not sure if he even plays it anymore.

Dream: I’m trying to suggest to a new player in Nashville a way to approach the new MK but I don’t really know where to tell him to start (actually, he was at the tournament - bald black guy with broad shoulders). He’s getting decent at execution but I don’t really know how to tell him to get better at finishing rounds (basically, he has a hard time finishing off opponents). Any random advice? In SF, I would have a better idea what to tell him, but in MK I am learning just like him so I would feel better just asking

I will be there at 6 or 7 to play MvC3 and MK9

chit: I guess it depends on who he is using…my only suggestions are for him to not attack if he is ahead by a ton, know your spacing, make them come to you…my issue is based on characters I have to either A: Attack like crazy B: sit there like crazy. There really is no middle ground unless I use Raiden or Smoke but it depends on what your buddy is losing to…

Bishop: You are probably right, I mean, Chris is still learning the game but he is going to be a wildcard when he knows matchups, Patrick needs to buy the game, and Shawn is moving but I do believe you guys would probably beat everyone else here. Richard is solid at the game but I don’t think he will beat Marcus and Flymike (I know he won’t be able to beat you) and a lot of that has to do with good Tekken experience…now with that said, Richard DOES use Raiden now as well, so you have the random Raiden factor, LOL…

I am thinking I am going to try and stick to one character to learn matchups which is something I usually don’t do since I fly all over the place but I am going to try and stick with Jax or Liu Kang but I’m getting confused with all the combos…I find myself having to go to training mode using other characters just to REMEMBER what they do. It’s a huge learning curve for me trying to recall Tekken type combos so I am having an issue with one character popping up with back + 3, towards + 2, another Forward + 3, back + 2, etc…these are all giving me headaches and it seems like the only characters I “know” how to use without forgetting things now are Jax, Liu Kang, Smoke, Raiden, Nightwolf and Scorpion…everyone else I forget things with…

Damn dude, glad to know you’re all right. I guess He was looking out for you man, because it ain’t Rapture time yet.
