The New Tennessee Thread: Our Infractions bring all the mods to the yard!

$54.61 … hopefully you can find random giftcards in your wallet from 2009 to pay for it (and UMVC3 like I did lol - I literally paid $11.74 for both games out of pocket)…

Edit: Also, I have no idea why I find this so fucking hilarious … but I thought I would share …

Hahahahahahahaha

NO NOT SPACE RAPE!

Man how can you hate on Shadaloo? Dat’s the mawfuckin team right dere.

My stick sucks for doing DPs in marvel. How do I go about adding some resistance to the joystick?

Your stick sucks period.

How did I know you were gonna chime in?

Personally I dont think tightening the stick will help. I played with super tight sticks for years and it wasn’t until recently that I found the lose sticks to be better. IMO you can move them quicker which helps. Usually DP issues in marvel are because SF4 players are too use to the short cuts from that game me included. AFAIK there are no DP short cuts you have to do F, D, D/F + Attack anything less is not a DP. You are probably either missing the last D/F input or the first F input. Try turning on the input display and it should help.It took me some time when I played vanilla to get them out when I needed them too.

If you really want to tighten the stick I think you just have to open it up and then stretch the spring though.

Flymike is right on, this game is something where you need to play against humans and then go back and figure out what to do next. The punishment and hit boxes are very foreign because it’s a new game and the boxes were already tiny but the fact of the matter is you will see something new with each person you play against regardless of skill…combos are not going to be king in this game by any means, there is nothing where you have an opportunity of doing the “same” combo even on block stun to someone because of the speed of the game, it’s just not happening let alone a few areas where punishment is key but basics are a key component in the game…crouch fierce is still silly  (and I am talking about Raiden/Terry long fierce, not your typical looking fierce, the ones where you are ducking = )

Yeah I’ve got input display on and I thought it was just me moving the stick too far backwards but apparently that’s not the case. I hear what you’re saying too about missing the first forward input. I’ll work on that. I noticed something weird though. Sometimes I’ll do the exact same inputs on separate attempts and sometimes I’ll get a DP and sometimes I won’t. What the hell man…

lol @ everyone complaining about lame play on the stream. Why does everyone hate defense so much? I love seeing lame, it’s harder to play exceptionally good defense than exceptionally good offense imo…you can’t really autopilot good zoning/defense but you can with some offensive characters (don’t think I need to name them).

I think a lot of the stream monsters like combos but they don’t like fighting games…there’s a big difference.

Every time Magneto does Magnetic blast I hear Magnetic Ass, so I started doing alot back to back in a combo…

Hoo! Magnetic Ass! Hoo! Hoo! Magnetic Ass! Hoo! Magnetic Ass!

Too much training mode…

Yeah I mean I am playing the game guys, c’mon now, gimme a little more credit than that. I’m not sitting here watching match vids and shit like, hey! how you do this shit?

I guess the reason I am asking so many questions is because I am still at a point where I feel so awkward with the game that it just feels like I’m playing it…wrong…and I don’t want to develop any bad habits.

I’m also stupid.

Remember the universal hit stun, Chris. For example… with Kyo… his hop B comes out faster than his other hops (and it can cross up in the right situation, at least in 2002). So you hop in with B, and hit it at the last minute (which is easier because it comes out so fast compared to hop C or D). Then you can start a BnB.

You can hop into an attack, empty hop into a throw, or empty hop into a low attack. Those are basically the hop options. Don’t forget that you can hop with CD (C+D is a knockdown normal). It usually has a pretty decent hitbox. Like, with Kyo you can hop in and then hop in again immediately with C+D to score a good knockdown a lot of times.

Read these tutorials by Phoenix (Dutch player who is teaching me how to play). http://dreamcancel.com/2011/09/16/fuzzy-guarding-tutorial-by-phoenix/

Man, Dream. KoF13 netplay can NOT handle crossing the Atlantic. I don’t think that anyone expected that it would. I’m just happy that it’s virtually flawless within Holland. I hope that we’ll be able to play with the French.

I really need to figure out Iori… I’m so used to 02 Iori that i’m honestly a little unsure as to what to do. But, with all of the training yesterday my Kyo is becoming fairly competent.

They took out Leona’s j.C cancel to super =( Which sucks because jump.C is a great instant overhead. You can still hop over an attack and punish with j.D -> super.

That’s the excuse everyone has when they lose to people that don’t “do” much, they play “lame”, I’ve heard it from people that have lost to me before since I don’t have high levels of execution…and my style is not respected. Shrug a win is a win…go play in training mode and watch more You Tube and streams I guess to them…I’ll stick with creating my own style and not watching anything. Works for me…but yeah, you gotta love sore losers and armchair athletes, lol

BTW Shawn, the 02 Iori will be back as DLC in December…this one is Orochi Iori “style” just not in speed unless you count his hops and Back + B reverse air kick thingy, lol

Chris, lol…you know what I mean…come to the arcade or play online if you have to =) it’s really the only way you are going to figure out what can hit what and what punishes what because I’m going through all the characters and there are things that are just wtf to a point where you just need a human to play against for a bit but I am sure Tuesday will have some KOF playing…

Ralph and King are playing a song I can jam to. I’m looking for a third; right now, I’m kind of just riding the Shen wagon cause he was my dude in XI, but I really want to give Takuma and Kensou a shot.

Shawn, on universal hitstun: I thought I saw something like that playing with Phil and Chris last night, but I figured it may have been a difference in the timing. So j.B and j.D have the same amount of hitstun, and the real consideration there is startup/active frames/priority in general over damage? Maybe a stronger hitbox for some characters?

Edit: Are you up at GG today, Jason?

Double edit: Never mind, just found this bit http://dreamcancel.com/2011/10/31/hitstun-and-blockstun-miniguide/

I tried Ash out again but I just don’t like him. I gave Clark a try too and I thought he was pretty bad ass!

Ya I’m gonna start working on Ralf and Clark. Any idea whether the unlockable characters will be tournament legal, gonna try to use billy kane if so. if not no idea on a third.

i don’t understand the bison hate. :X

I mean I understand the Yun hate(the most dynamic character in the game) and CViper hate (the most damage dealing character in the game with 1 EX bar from anywhere on the screen)

I wanna pick up Yun though. I don’t think he’s getting nerfed that bad in 2012. And I wanna pick back up Oni. But Viper is so much fun though :X :X :X :X

But first, I’m going in on UMVC3 and KOF when I return. I need a teeeaaammm.

Oh shi-… my first thought when I woke up was that I think I had met Shin Blade before at a KiT tournament a few years ago. My mind is blown.

Pat: I am at the arcade all day today, yes…
