The New Tennessee Thread: Our Infractions bring all the mods to the yard!

Good shit to everyone in Nashville. I guess I did okay in SF, but I played so terrible, too many dropped combos / punishes… but oh well. Good shit to everyone in casuals afterwards … I swear I sat at the Viewlix for 2.5 hours straight.

Special shouts to Jacob Sparks for the casuals Sakura knowledge and match-up help. Appreciate it after the ass beating you gave me in the tournament lol.

Also shouts to Arson for our super sloppy match - nice reaction U2 on my OS, that was hot.

Zeth - I’m still trying to figure out that Cody / Honda “6-5” match-up LOL … nice meeting you dude. Work on those unblockable setups now that you know!

Nice seeing everyone in Nashville again. Definitely need to come up there more often and vice versa … shit is WAYYYYY too much fun. Also, LMAO @ “spoilers” comparisons … god that shit was too funny.

Good shit to Marcus for taking Ultimate and “Kinect” taking 2nd in SF.

Sorry, but you are out of your mind right now. Bishop contributes WAY more than you (and I’m sure many others) are aware of when it comes to training and helping others out.

Do you not understand the concept of how leveling each other up works? The better everyone gets as a whole, the easier it is to prep for tourneys and the higher matchup (and bullshit) knowledge you have. You can only learn so much by yourself without actual match practice. Perfect example is I can sit in training and figure out what beats what when it comes to the Cody / Yun match-up … but there’s a big fucking difference between playing a dummy in training mode and playing Jacob Ford.

If someone like Bishop can at least play 90% of the cast “decently” vs playing one character ridiculously well in a game he doesn’t play often, I will take that type of training any fucking day of the week. It at least gives me match-up practice against characters we DON’T have. Yeah it may not be the same as training with someone that is godlike with that specific character - but if I run into someone like that in a tourney, I’ll at least have some idea of a strategy against said character.

Dream- Was top suppose to have free entry in Bama tournament? Is what I’ve heard

Ok I’ll give Leona a try too she looked pretty dope.

The only thing that bums me out leading up to KOF XIII is the character roster.

I NEED MY BUTT

Shout outs YAY!! Nashville ya’ll know I got mad love for you guys (no homo) but I have to get this out of the way first: I know they cost money but not having the DLC characters in a game where they are actually viable and tournament playable - no bueno. Not having Shuma cut my strategy down considerably.

Alright now that is off my chest I shall commence with man loving up this thread. Good games to everybody I played. Eugene showing me another bad match-up for Vega in El Fuerte, damn I’m gonna have to work on that; Phil and the delicious Guilty Gear matches, Potemkin Bustering Millia at the end of her back dash = priceless; Negro Justice and Phil with our trip to Zaxby’s and all around cool ass racism and stereotyping; “Kinect” and ShinBlade repping Memphis strong in their respective tourneys (forwards and shields ftw); Bishop, Chris, Eraser, and Squab for epic trips to and from the 'ville. Jason and Richard making it all happen. Sorry if I left anybody out, had to work at 7 this morning, just got off about an hour and a half ago and gotta go back at 8 for ANOTHER meeting… retail

[spoiler=“Caution. Rant toward GDBell ahead”]

There’s a thin line between troll and ass hole, and you are teetering over the edge toward the latter. Dude you need to calm that down. You do realize the game came out Tuesday, right? I can’t speak for everybody, but I know I sure as hell didn’t have ANY experience with a number of the characters that I fought. I had little experience with one of the characters I used but that’s a whole other thing. Bishop was in a similar both. He had more time with the game and that factored into him placing higher than me. That’s not the only variable in the equation but it is a significant one. One tournament does not a player make. However, zero tournaments speaks volumes. How can you ridicule or criticize someone on something with which you have no experience? The reason that you’re “bad” at these games, isn’t that you just naturally suck at them. You put little effort into learning them. Beyond just execution, but what match-up experience do you have other than against the may five or six characters you fight against when you come to fight night every blue moon? You know what would make you a more effective troll? If you were a troll with ability and knowledge. If you really want to excel at being a troll, get more knowledge in the subject on which you are trolling. Until then, leave the conversations alone when you just want to talk but have nothing to say.

Not Ash? Lol, two of his moves are Sonic Boom and Flash Kick. Leona is more manly though, I guess. Charge times are shorter in KOF in general ( I think it may be move dependent, but none of Ash’s moves are a full 2 seconds like in SF. ) and he has no charge times in his power-up super. He’s fun you should try him. People don’t seem to like fighting him, which is always a plus.

Nobody is going to stick with this shit.

GGs to everyone Sat. I’ll try to play more and not suck so bad again.

Yea charge times are shorter in general. Agreed, no reason Joker shouldn’t be using, no MAINING Ash, if he plays this game and he wants that Guile-ish archetype. They created him exclusively for that reason, he’s damn good at it, and has options and setups. Shit, before I could do motions moderately on stick I was using Ash a bit and even before then, because I generally prefer charge characters and its refreshing to charge in KOF games because you typically don’t have to worry about whether you gave yourself enough time on jump-ins or quick punishes.

Lol yea it’s just pre-release hype. You can put anything on a stream and people will bite momentarily.

Apparently so

Moved to Nashville, is there a fight night at Game Galaxy or is there always usually a few hanging out ready to play? I personally got tired of my online Blanka skills in sf4, and didn’t want to put the time into it to take Jimmy to the next level. I really wanted to like mk9 but just couldn’t. I plan on getting back into fighting games (and gaming in general) Tuesday with KOF. Anyone in Nashville plan to get their KOF game tight? I am really hoping online play is good, once I get decent am planning on checking out the Arcade.

Oh yea what happened to Hastings? No more Memphis hub?

All I’m sayin is, I put a year and a half into Tekken before I decided it wasn’t for me. And that’s not even to say I’ll never pick it up again, just on the back burner indefinitely. My Marvel 3 tenure was short lived despite my crazy initial hype for the game, but KoF just seems a bit more my flavor. It’s a step out of my comfort zone, but a step in the right direction.

Hey man, welcome. Tuesdays and Thursdays are gonna be your best bet, but ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS post up if you plan to come to GG to make sure people can make it out so you have someone to play. In MidTN there’s a good number of us, but we are all very spread out and have busy lives outside of FGs so we try and get as many people as possible when we hit GG. A few of us, like myself, live very close to the arcade, so it’s not a thing to come out.

Don’t wait till you, “get decent” to come to the arcade, come to the arcade to get decent and even better. That’s what it’s there for. It’s so rare these days to have a hub with access to good OFFLINE comp to help you lever your game up. Most of us in MidTN main SFIV, but we have some mean Marvel heads (BoomCube, Astaroth, lolpenguinlol) and a few of us do plan to pick up KoF XIII.

Good to see a new player in the scene. Keep an eye on the thread here, follow Game Galaxy on Twitter (@Game_Galaxy) and Facebook if that’s your thing, and man just come out for casuals and tournaments!

Oh yeah, shout outs to tournament and shit, Squabbler, Shinblade, Eraser and all them

Awesome matches in Marvel with bishop, i still suck at the game but that was good getting in some experiences, playing you is making me look out for throw techs and stuff in that game more than I was.

Gdbell- Seriously man, shut the fuck up. You’re not “speaking the truth” or whatever little fantasy has come into your head from people coddling you. You’re not funny and if you’re going to attack someone like Bishop who has been to basically every Tennessee tournament ( not just Nashville but Memphis too which you are somehow not able to make it up to) then you need to step back and take a look at yourself. Not only will the guy sit down with you and mash out games with you but he’s always been able to help me and others with things in not only marvel, but SF, and just help work on things you have trouble with. Seriously no one thinks it is funny or cool when you just get on here and say shit but have absolutely no way to back it up. In reality it is just pathetic and pitiful.

Oh and Astatroth I promise to have that loop down by the next tournament lol.

Stream got kinda intense during grand finals. Bracket reset from losers with 5 wins straight wins and then on game match the Geovanny dude must’ve smoked that good crack because he swept it after that, with OCV wins. I think he was prob just bullshitting from the start. After all, dude WAS a mex.

Hispanic vs Asian in Grand Finals. The yard man won. What’s good now Jason lol?

Arcade tourney and still can’t believe we didn’t see any Raiden, Takuma, or Liz. That’s crazy.

Shut your fucking mouth. Lars temporarily joined Shadowloo for you. Wore the colors, with the pads, and the boots. You have forsaken him. The same way you will try to do to Terry. But Terry won’t let you go…

P.S. Lol nigga I know you try to play everything. You won’t be letting anyone down when that 2012 comes out and the KOF XIII case has toenail clippings and ashes on it. We were talking about the masses who’re amped up because it’s shiny, new, and pretty, but then when they get short hopped on all day and can’t react to the rushdown, it’s gonna get dropped quicker than an ugly baby. And that’s pretty much because newer gamers want everything, besides MvC3, to play exactly like SF4. And not only that, some people need a dedicated and populated local scene or they lose interest.

Gabe just shut what they call the fuck up and dont even post on here anynore cause the more you open your mouth the more like a idiota you sound. So do everyone on here a favor and metete un bicho en la boca y vete pal carajo please. Your posts stoped being funny long ago.

Btw good shit to memphis placing and negro colgate justice taking sf.
the next saturday I get off im riding out to nash

You know I have no idea who I’m gonna play in KoF, I don’t wanna play a charge char though since I main one in SF2/3/4, and I do want a team that’s balanced on offense and defense, that’s all I know. Seems like you guys are being a lot more proactive than me, picking teams and reading the whole wiki before the game even comes out lol. Good shit.

Yes, anyone in top 3 gets free entry to the Dec 10 Alabama tournament…

And many thanks to Sara for offering that and supporting the scene…same goes to all the from Memphis, very happy you guys are able to make it…

Damn I posted alot today. But when you’re sitting around pretty much on call, and facebook is hacked with NSFW newsfeed, SRK isn’t so bad.

Some people gravitate towards general types, or played characters in past games, etc. If you’ve never really fucked around with a KOF before it’s gonna be kinda iffy to call dibs on charas. And even if you have, there’s change’s to movesets and stuff that either turn-off or appeal. Me, I typically go for power in every game and I already like these guys so it’s pretty much set on Ralf/Maxima/Shen. None of them are zoners, Ralf lost his command grab, Shen isn’t much on mixups, cornbread actually. But they all have crippling damage. Manly damage, not that Kyo and Ash shit. For now, I got rushdown on point, solid knockdowns->mixups(my style) in the middle. And then a straightforward beast at anchor. I can worry about the specifics or matchups later, but i’ve already got it figured out a bit. It’s not a typical squad, but in many ways it’s balanced.

This isn’t Marvel. You don’t have to go about a delicate process or anything. You pretty much just pick 3 charas you’re most comfy with. After that, and if you want to go further, then you worry about placement, or who needs meter to be a factor, who generally doesn’t, who builds meter quickly as a battery, etc. On the backend though, you want to have someone you feel is capable of carrying and making a comeback. Yet at the same time, you might want to just come strong out of the gate. That’s why you see alot of K’ first. Dude doesn’t really need meter to followup or hurt you. Plus he builds good meter. And he’s just overall good for anything. Like Dante in MvC3.

You should just get the game and fuck with who you like though. Because these early days, and especially in TN, there’s prob not gonna be much weight on team composition and shit. Dudes are just gonna play who they used years ago.

I think I’m gonna enjoy this new Zelda. They just have a knack for taking my money and having me not regret it.

Yeah, we don’t have much of a choice…$400 shipping each way? Can’t wait.

Let me know when, because I’ll probably roll with …
