Damn.
Am I losing my mind or did the FANTASTIC “New Posts” button vanish again???
Ugh I was really REALLY hoping that feature would stay around…but I’m guessing it puts too much load on the server.
Anyone?

You should’ve traded it in for stuff when you had your chance.
Is there a way to see all the subscribed threads? Also is there a way to stay logged on until I log out?
get rid of the grey, just make it black and blue.
Yes, go to the very creatively titled “settings” menu and you will see all your subscriptions. LOL at the choice of putting that on the “settings” menu.
You ARE logged in, it just doesn’t show on the front page. When you return to SRK, just click on the FORUMS link and it will show you as logged in (assuming you accept cookies, have not cleared your cookies, and checked the “remember me” box during your last login).
Seriously, I got a Lagless TV from Mr.Wizard himself for finally filling up my rep bar. Thanks Mr.Wizard!
Subscribed Threads can be found under Quick Links
and you’re still logged into SRK even if the front page shows you’re not.
EDIT: Sounds like we need a FAQ on the current bugs/glitches. At least to have a place for the solution/work around until they’re fixed.
I like the look but the format is throwing me off and pretty much every post of mine is being duplicated. I liked old SRK better but that’s what I said the last time they changed it.
You cannot deny that the rep system was a big, sneaky incentive for buying premium though. I’d like to say SRK shot itself in the foot by removing it, but they already kinda did that when they redesigned the way rep looked.
Back then it used to be red/negative rep was quite the eyesore and looked bad. After they changed it to the “fighter gauge” look however, both good & bad rep looked equally cool. If you had nothing but Negs, it just looked like a Rage gauge lol.
Here we go…
I can’t say I particularly like any of the currently available themes. They’re “stock” themes that make SRK look identical to just about every other vBulletin forum out there. Is that a huge problem, considering the community? No, not at all. Here’s what I’m thinking should be done:
**Themes: **
[]Blue Steel: First and foremost, port the Blue Steel theme to vBulletin 4.0 ASAP. It’s one of the most commonly used themes on the forum.
[]SRK Black: Second, those that don’t use Blue Steel were probably using black. Yes, I’m aware that there are other themes, but these are the ones used the most.

Others: You can always take a vote to see who wants what themes the most; but you can probably already tell that I’m right in assuming that Black and Blue Steel are the top ones. From there, prioritize from a voting thread in GD (or just an announcement with a vote).
Updates:
[]Reputation: Personally, I’ve never been too freaky about Rep. It was fun while it lasted, it was great to neg-whore certain people who pretty much deserved it. I loved the now-useless rep whoring thread in Premo; just considering it was something to do. Nonetheless, no longer have to worry about it so that’s a good thing.
[]Join Dates: We already knew these were going out the window pretty fast. Valaris gave us all heads-up about join dates being devoured within days of some of his posts (we now see the final result). I will agree that it was nice seeing the more dedicated members by their join dates. I’m an 09’er (don’t even start, I know); but, I will still say it wasn’t the wisest of ideas to remove join dates. It, at least, gave some of us a focus point on seeing who was here for how long and if they would have anything useful to say. On the flip side, all join dates have some idiots (especially myself, half the time) - so it isn’t as though just because you’re from 2003 that you’re going to have more useful posts than someone from '04/'06… etc. (No, I won’t mention from '09, because most of us were god-damned idiots in 2009.)
[]Blogs: I understand the **point **of having blogs - it’s a nice update, to a degree. I’m just glad we don’t see every Joe-Blow from Idaho posting about how his crops aren’t doing too well and he’s going to kill himself by drowning on pig blood. If it comes to that, Blogging on SRK will become absolutely useless. It would be awesome to see more experienced players writing out certain strategies they have for their mains and so forth.
[]Icons: Bring back the Galaga icons in some way or another. They were probably the coolest thing about premo aside from the Premo section. I don’t particularly like the “star” idea - it was used back in the day on just about every damn forum I can think of. Galaga icons were just fucking epic, admit it.
**Bugs and “Stuff”: **
[]Bugs: Most bugs have already been documented and there’s a thread for it in feedback. So I’m not going to jump into it heavily here. Most of the text issues have been solved, for the most part. Personally, I recommend people just goign there and explaining what issues you’ve found. At least over there, it’s more constructive and less subjective.
[]Members: I’m not sure who will renew their premium without more incentives. **Yes, I know that you’re supporting the fucking site when you get premo. **I wasn’t fucking born yesterday. But if this is going to be a money-hoarding machine of a website, gotta find something to sell people into purchasing premo.

APEX: Even though I wasn’t around when it was first implemented, it is pretty awesome to hear such a system coming back into fruition. I don’t go to many tournaments; but it would be more incentive to do so if it means getting some “rep-style” props when I come home from one (well, that is, if I won one…lol). So good job on bringing this back; the idea is ‘faw-shum’.
Well, that’s all I’ve got to say so far about the ‘updated’ SRK. Its launch wasn’t the best of ideas, most people would have tested it on a seperate box - but, nonetheless, you wouldn’t be able to test the strain/load (thus why you have a new server anyways). So keep it up, I’m not too disappointed - just anxiously awaiting some of the newer themes. Thank heavens I came a few days after it was first launched or the obnoxious text issues would have driven me bonkers.
quite possibly the most detailed post out of this thread so far on someone’s take of the beta so far. Not really bitching but just a straight up neutral point of view.
I’d rep…but you know that story. (plus not premium.)
Forum Jump is now known as Quick Navigation.
Thanks to inkblot for pointing this out to me in the bugs/glitches/feedback forum.
I love the black, sometimes people just don’t like change, regardless of the president.
It feels as if we’ve made a step backwards with the last few changes. The join date removal is stupid because you removed my badge of honor… and for what? Just so some newbie can feel accommodated? I also don’t like the gray boarder around the avatar. No thanks.
Digging that new layout that can be accessed at the bottom left. White Mist is so much better on the eyes. But now my eyes are beginning to hurt from staring at the black for so long… No Racist.
I pray to god that the red theme comes back. I need my ninja red SRK again!
Yeah this isn’t on of those times.
Like I said, I can totally understand some heisitation when it comes to enjoying SRK in the new update. However, on the same note, I don’t particularly see the point of being **that **negative about it. Change is something people never get along with; especially when it comes to online things (forums, chatrooms/networks, servers, MMOGs, etc). I’m not thrilled with the updates; but, I understand it’s simply in ?eta format and things will be added/removed.
Stuart pretty much said it the best, albeit pretty frankly said. People should stop bitching about things, it’s just something that’s done - will **not **be undone and we can either get used to it or never come back here again. Those who are simply going to stop coming here because of something so mundane as the aesthetical changes around here weren’t enjoying being here to begin with.
The forum formatting is fucked up as hell using internet explorer 6(work setup), but looks ok with firefox and widescreen.
After the addition of the white mist layout and finally finding how to access parts of the site, I literally have no more complaints anymore.
Though I would like rep back. Some say it does more harm than good though.
EDIT: Except the double posting.
