The new Smallville thread

As with a lot of series finales, this one was disappointing.

OBVIOUS SPOILERS AHEAD …

  1. Darkseid-Lionel fight (if you can call it that): Pretty lame. He gets punched and somehow the crystal activates? With all the advanced technology Krypton had, you would think there would be a better way to trigger his flight (I assume the crystal had something to do with it since it’s gone after the flashbacks… otherwise this would mean he gets his flight after he gets decked by Darkseid-Lionel).

  2. Tess dies. Pointless. You’d think she could find a better way to get that material on Lex’s face. Suggestion: squirt gun.

  3. Lex returns. Pretty anticlimactic. This is LEX LUTHOR, and all he gets is: Hi Clark. Bye Tess. Memory wipe.

  4. No Lana Lang. Yes she can’t be within a certain distance of Clark, but really? She was too busy to do the finale?

Also: the whole “memories” thing didn’t make sense. They weren’t memories. They were posts from the Smallville Facebook webpage.

Overall, horrible series finale.

As bad as it was, nothing beats Seinfeld series finale in terms of crapiness.

I didn’t think the flying had anything to do with that crystal thing… I figured it was more of him finally stepping out on his own, and fully embracing his destiny. This was what the whole series was leading up to, basically. It signified his final ascension to being “Superman” instead of “just Clark” or even “Blur”. Even some of the dialogue seemed to point this out… he had been under the guidance of both his Earth and Kryptonian fathers all this time… but now it was time for him to be his own man without any help or guidance from them.

Oh yeah, and the classic John Williams theme just added to the hype for me…since I also happen to be a fan of John Williams music anyway. Besides the main Superman theme, they also worked in the “Clark & Lois” love theme, which is also from the old movie score. I’ve listened to that and other soundtrack material from Williams on a regular basis for most of my life. I can’t get enough of it. JW is a golden god of music. The Superman main theme and love themes though…powerful, awesome stuff. It brought me right back to that first time I saw the old movie as a little kid, and instantly wanting to be fly just like Superman, complete with that music playing in the background for me…great childhood memories there.

If “Lana” turned down the opportunity to be there…that’s funny. What the hell is she doing these days? It’s tough to even remember that broad’s real name at the moment. She wasn’t even my favorite piece of ass on this show. It really is a shame that the other girls are probably doomed to obscurity as well though. I don’t really expect to see my honeys Cassidy Freeman or Allison Mack in anything else aside from random Lifetime or Oxygen movies in the future.

ooh, remember that smokin’ hot substitute teacher with the pheromone powers several seasons back? That just randomly came to mind as one of the great sexpots on this show. It’s a shame she was only in that 1 episode. I still have that recorded. It was the episode where Clark first got Heat Vision. Hahah, that was back when Token was still on the show. (*One of only 2 black people I remember ever appearing on this show)

Probably filming Legend of Chun Li 2

Best part of the finale was seeing Rosenbaum, I actually clapped when he opened his eyes  But overall the finale was a huge huge disappointment, can’t believe they even dared to bring emo Clark back that was depressing, I kept thinking you’ve been fighting these inner battles for past 4 or so season why are we doing this again!?!

Smallville writers seriously suck, it all felt like a huge cop-out. I don’t know why they didn’t show Welling in the suit, he isn’t that built anymore so maybe he looked bad in it, not buying the legal complication we’ve been able to clearly see the suit in 2 or 3 prior episodes.

No sign of the justice league either.

10 or 15 more minutes of just Lex and Clark could have saved the finale

I liked the parallel of Clark using his memories to make him stronger whist Lex was likely strengthened through forgetting his positive memories of Clark.

Poorly scripted and poorly directed, a bit of a disappointment. :-/

Wow. Great observation. I didn’t even think about that.

Kinda makes me wish Tess put just enough of that stuff on me so I could forget those two hours…

The real Lex returning just about made the finale for me , Rosenbaum is just so perfect in his role that I didn’t even notice how mediocre the rest of it was

Regardless, Smallville is over, it’s time to move on to different, probably better things. Though less Cassidy Freeman and Erica Durance will be the ultimate loss…

So i just heard V, The Event and a few other shows I don’t watch anyway have been given the axe.

Looks like reality tv is taking over Ugh

I was really enjoying this season V, so many cool shocks and twists :bluu:

Just realized in the finale they kept referring to Superman as “The Man of Steel”, the name “Superman” was only used in a flash back of an old episode.

And wtf at Jimmy Olsen showing up, isn’t he dead

I vaguely remember Jimmy being turned in dog food by Doomsday, a story which turned out to be just as pointless as Darkseid’s.

Finale has me confused a little. 7 years later there is a comic book called Smallville, so does that mean Superman revealed both identities to the world? Or the entire 10 years of Smallville has been Chloe reading a comic book to her kid???

No mention of the JL, I was still hoping they’d mention Bruce Wayne or Wayne Industries

There are some rumours floating around that there is a possibility that Smallville will continue as a new series now that Clark is now Superman.

i thought that was jimmy’s younger brother at the end

thought so, i know others were confused

Okay lol, but it’s the same actor that played Jimmy right, I’m not going crazy am I ??

watch superma/batman : supergirl. you won;t be dissappointed

I don’t know why others would be confused, there was a 7 year time skip and she told the character that his brother left big shoes for him to fill.

The worst thing about the finale is that the return of Lex gets you hyped up for more but now the show is over. They really should have brought him back for the whole season instead of all that clone garbage.

Don’t you think they would’ve if they could’ve? Rosenbaum was pretty damn determined to not come back. I’m honestly surprised he even decided to do the finale.

What was the reason he didn’t want to do the show anymore?

He just didn’t want to do it. I didn’t know the exact reasons, but I assume he didn’t want to be permanently tied to Lex.

You do a show for 10 seasons…you have the tendency to become the character you play.
