The NEW Sakura Matchup Thread

yeah they r empty neutral jumps and they r lame

Not big on lingo but what’s the difference between and empty and neutral jump?

I ask cause I’m thinking going into training mode and simulating these predicaments.

An empty jump is jumping without attacking while you’re in the air.

A neutral jump is jumping straight up - not forward or backwards.

Ah, makes sense now. I was thinking they were kinda the same.

buuuuump.

:coffee:

I keep seeing Cody flipping eggs in that avvy

Bump

I’ll see if I can organize this thing some more tomorrow.

oh goodie!

Any tips on Rufus? Got worked over by a pretty good one earlier hah.

he is punishable after a blocked tornado i think.

i have problems to with him cause there are so few of them.
using pokes is important cause if he is close its hard.

Think he’s only -1 after those Tornado things, which means an EX Jesus Kick is a good chance of popping out afterwards.

Destin’s advice is to do DB+LP+LK+HP to deal with his dive kick spam

Against Boxer, it is advantageous to jump sometimes. Especially when you are pressuring the wake up. His Buffalo Head takes 8 - 12 frames to come out depending on which version you use. Use a very deep meaty and you should hit the ground before his Buffalo Head connects. Just don’t hit buttons as you land, because the Buffalo head will, at the right time, pass through, your jump in attack, not hit you in the air, but rather hit you once you’ve landed and are throwing out a poke.

Also, Jumping Back HK works well against many of his moves. He has no means to punish any of the Shunpu Hurricane Kicks on block. EX Shouoken works wonders against incoming dash punches.

If you’re close to abel and he ultras, you can spam cr.lk and it cancels out the ultra.

Kinda risky and completely unnecessary since his Ultra does zero chip damage, you might as well just block it and walk forward a bit for the B&B start.

Bump with Zangief info, from Destin. Update GGawran!!!

Think that’s a typo, probably meant EX Shunpuu since EX Shou will get you in trouble if he blocks :stuck_out_tongue:

Lost to 3 Codys last night, tips?

It seems to me so far that Cody’s biggest weaknesses are his wake-up options and his slow walk speed. Staying on top of him with ambiguous j.mk cross-ups when he’s down is what I usually try to do against him, and, when he’s far away, you can try to stay in that range where you can st.hk or cr.mk but he’s not close enough to do much other than throw random ruffian kicks at you. Keeping the pressure on when you knock him down has been the most important thing for me against the Codys I’ve fought so far. I hope that’s helpful! <:

Is this strictly a matchup thread or can this double as a matchmaking thread or is there one of it’s own kind somewhere?

I was looking every where for this thread. I need to start learning all these match ups to up my Sakura game. I look dumb when Im not able to punish certain moves correctly.
