Obey, Zack, or Sabre, if you guys got some time, what do I need to do against akuma? FAs in general have gotten my win ratio against him better, and cross up to fierce shouken, but his standing round house is pain in the ass, most, on block that I have played will normally do a crouching medium kick to fireball, they also do this on jump in after a fireball, I have done FA since the first one will miss if the zoning is right then its normally crumple to punish. Or on the blocked standing roundhouse I will FA after the second hit when they go for the crouching medium kick, You guys have any advice on how to punish that? Is there something I can do in between like guiles sweeps?

FA his s.RH… his s.RH is extremely punishable because sakura crouches, making her hitbox smaller. only one of the kicks will hit, which youll absorb with the FA, and youll score a crumple… also NEVER go for the crossunder mixups, any competent akuma will just teleport… just bait the teleport and punish them. hope that helped, unless i completely misunderstood the question… but ive had a few cocktails

haha, a few cocktails. Where have you been, haven’t seen you on PSN. On the standing roundhouse, will the second kick always miss? or do I have to be at a certain point during the FA?

Guile can apparently stuff Sakura’s ultra with his little upside-down kick.

His Flash Kick, yeah that’s because Sakura’s head is vulnerable and her Ultra hits low so with moves like Flash Kick and Shoryuken they manage to avoid getting hit and then smack her one. It’s still much easier to jump straight up or towards her to avoid the Ultra anyways :stuck_out_tongue:

I actually think he’s talking about the special normal, which would be pretty rediculous if it’s true.

Not really. Same as how we can stuff Blanka’s ultra with a normal cr.HP. That kick puts him in the air so he can’t be hit low.

Simple solution: don’t throw the ultra out randomly.

True enough, I did it because he was throwing out meaties on my wake-up.

I haven’t seen anyone mention it but, cr.hp xx hk shunpu doesn’t work on Dan unless he’s at full range. I get the feeling sometimes that they didn’t finish testing Sakura.

I’ve been thinking, I think the Sakura mirror match is 4-6 in favor of Sakura, alt costume.

Dan has some pretty weird hit-boxes at times. Specifically his crumple hit-boxes, can whiff him with certain attacks (Abel/Seth’s c.HP for instance) if you don’t do it soon enough otherwise you have to wait a bit and catch him at the end of the crumpling before it resets him.

Yup, right about c.HP xx HK Shunpuu not comboing properly on Dan but not really an issue, should be doing HP xx Shou without meter or the more complex Light Shunpuu links for that little extra damage and stun. Incidentally c.HP xx MK Shunpuu does combo on Dan in his face and it’s for the same damage since one of the hits from HK version will miss. c.LK > c.LP > c.HP xx HK Shunpuu combos as you pointed out it works from range since the links push him further back.

is it me… but every honda ive played against, the c.lk > c.lp > c.hp > EX tatsu combo doesnt work. itll hit the first three normals, but it pushes him so far away that he can block the tatsu. i KNOW its not me fudging the combo because i bust it all the time and theres no way that i can fudge it up 26 times in a row.

side note, ive also found that if you do c.hp > EX tatsu after the cross under, the tatsu will go right over honda even if the c.HP hits

Honda, Akuma, Blanka, Vega - These guys all have dodgy hit boxes where sometimes the first hit of EX shunpu will hit and then the rest doesn’t combo. I think they just didn’t test Sakura all that thoroughly when they rushed the console release out the door.

If it makes you feel any better the other console characters also have glitches that can work in your favour. Sometimes Gen’s roll won’t combo on Sakura even after the first hit hits. :razzy:

Hopefully it’ll be fixed in SSFIV… she really just needs to push characters back more with her shunpus.

Is that straight off the ground or after a jump-in? From a jump-in I have no problem getting EX Shunpuu to combo but Honda tends to be pushed too far away for Otoshi to land, not that much of a problem I guess but still kinda sucks.

EX Shunpuu should always hit after a straight c.HP no matter the character x_x;; Which cross-under does it not work? Ground reset or j.LK?

Sakura was the first console character, think she’d have got the most testing out of all the console characters :stuck_out_tongue:

Dan’s worse off with s.MP/s.HP xx Dankuu combos missing on crouching characters :frowning:

doesnt work after the j.lk crossunder. ive been sitting around playing with it and she just keeps going over him after hit confirming the c.HP

i have a problem when my friend nuetral jumps with gief and i throw the c. fp, and it doesnt hit. u can see that i hit him in the leg. cause my fist is in i shin but to no avail i get ultra’d

Yeah, you can’t rely so heavily on c.hp against gief (especially online). He can ultra and be on the ground already while you’re still fist pumping. You need to keep your AA game random, and only rely on c.hp if you’re in a tight spot without enough reaction to do something else. Beat him with shoukens and jumping normals, with a fist pump now and then. This way, they’ll never wise up to your AA game.

true for most of them but ive fought this guy a countless number of times offline so he knows the tricks pretty well

Yeah think I’ve had that happen to me before, think same applies to Blanka and Akuma as well.

Oh, if you hit confirm into c.HP with 2 leading attacks then that’s the same situation as your first example really. I found the same problem with Akuma but with the s.LP reset.

Do you mean neutral or empty jumps (or both)? Since you’re getting thrown/Ultra’d I’m assuming Empty Jumps, c.HP doesn’t work well against them :frowning: If you see a Zangief with Ultra jump at you you’re best bet is to get the fuck out of there x_x;;

you also cant c.HP a late air grab from guile… it pushes him back and he can punish… ive started to learn to not c.hp so much… a lot of moves are invuln to it
