The NEW Real Bout 2 Thread! IRC Matchmaking: #srksnk on EFNet! GOGOGO!

I’ll say this- the problems with the stick are solvable by modding.

The buttons are kinda crappy, but that’s minor, and the stick itself is just too clicky for my taste.

Japanese home sticks will make that clicking noise. I got an HRAP2 that I modded with Sanwa buttons. The stick itself is good enough. As for a PS3, I’d go for a JPN one since 2D fighters are made there and least likely to go to US (look how long it took us to get FF Collection =P). Not to mention, would get to play earlier if they DID get released worldwide

Call me crazy, but I think this game has safe jump-ins.

It would have to be very well-timed, since jump attacks add landing recovery, but I’m sure it’s possible since most reversals in this game are slower than those in, say, SF or GG. And since you’re jumping in so deep, you can use A/B attacks and still combo if they connect.

For an example of this, search for Japanese Tung matches on Youtube - they do it a lot with his j.B since that has a nice downward angle.

yeah, but theres characters in the game that just cant combo on decently after landing a A or B. spme cant at all. making the A and B not useful enough for my tastes. just imagine comboing on after a small jump B into big damage. shit is normally only possible with a jump in C.

Here some casuals from last night in RB2-

I am on the left.

OK, gonna ask this again:

Would you be interested in more match videos with commentary? For an example, check out the ones linked in the OP. I think all of them would have to involve Ghostpilot since he’s the only one with the tech to do this, but the 2nd player could be anyone.

Thanks,
Josh.

I would like to see more commentary videos. They give some nice insight into the game.

I could try at somepoint if I got my mic hooked back up, but I’m not at Ghosty’s level.
It would be hearing me rage and yell in frustration at his Mary.

I’d be up for doing some more commentary videos. The real challenge in doing them is having something meaningful to say while still maintaining enough concentration to fight well. That, and not talking over each other (which is much harder than you’d think).

The way that God 2.0 and I do it is that I record with Hypercam while we talk via Skype. There’s also reducing the game sound so it doesn’t drown out our voices, matching up the volumes of our respective microphones, etc. It’s one of those things that you’d think would be easy but is actually pretty involved once you sit down to do it (especially when the volume of the other person’s voice is higher / lower than what actually gets recorded by the video).

I’d definitely be up to doing more once I recovery from this one-two combo of allergies into the flu. :wasted:

man this game is too good. Anakron teaches me this

Would it be possible to do commentary afterwards? Like record the match then discuss it?

ill help with the commentary with a lil twist of comedy:rofl:

I’ll be happy to participate in more commentaries. But this time, I propose we add the commentaries after we fight. We just have to watch the replays while we talk.

Looking at the old commentaries, we really play a weaker game than we do when not speaking on skype.

Also, I think I can add commentaries to any replay files you guys want commented if you send them to me. When you start up a game in MAME, press and hold down shift and control when you click ready. Release the buttons when you want to start recording, typicallly in the character select screen.

Keep it short if you do this. 5-10 matches. And compress them with the zip or rar formats, preferably zip. The replays will be stored in the “inp” folder as two files. One .inp and one .trc. Both must be included in the compressed file.

Not bad, Geese! You should work the Kaiser Wave feint in there a bit more since that’s such a great move and people are scared of it. Hmm, what else…

Use far B-C more, it’s a nice little B&B combo from that long of a distance.

The ONLY time you should use the Iori command grab at midscreen is when you have P-Power, since you can combo the deadly rave from it. Otherwise, the other command grab is better at midscreen since it gets you a knockdown and more damage (thanks to the guaranteed pursuit).

And after you connect with a leg tomahawk, don’t try to follow up with any normals except crouching A. You have frame advantage but not much, and Krauser’s other normals are so slow that they will still lose to opponents’ crouching As & Bs.

Hope this helps, and I look forward to playing you! FYI, your character just happens to be one of Sokaku’s toughest matchups - Kaiser Wave KILLS the clone attack. =)

-Josh

As you said the damage is guaranteed but some players prefer to use hcf+A, fallow up (b b+C), dp+C which do less damage but allows you to do a free guessing game using a meaty attack from the bottom plane.
Note that after the wake up, the opponent has not enough time to use a standing/crouching D attack and if you can hit him the total damage will be greater than the first option.

Good comments. You beat me to it.

Also, when you are near the corner, always use the HCF+A instead of the HCB+B grab. If you are cornered, you can follow this up with a combo starting with close C or a Deadly Rave combo.
If your opponent is cornered, follow up with f,f+A then Kaiser Claw, then Pursuit.

As Josh also mentioned, the only time you want to rather use the HCB+B is when you are at mid-screen.

Also, you should get used to cancelling your sweep into the fake blitzball. There is not much reason to not do this, and it has the added advantage of making the opponent numb to the Blitzball animation. This way you can sometimes cancel it into a real Blitzball with better results.

Just picked up RBFF2 thanks to a friend of mine (FallingEdge) and I fucking love it. Mainly posting here to say thanks to Mr. Big, God 2.0, and everyone else who helped to amass this huge amount of info. Definitely a huge help to new players like myself.

Thanks for the free lessons last night, Mr. Big. I was surprised at my Terry. I just need to work on those Xiangfei counters; timing is a bitch T_T

FINALLY got my own Ps2 port of this!

Time to hit the labs.

I may be making some videos as well. Like bread and butter combo vids for various chars and maybe a tactics vid or something.
