Streams will be archived according to one of the Twitch guys in the comments. Other sources say Smartglass integration will let you see the chat on your phone/tablet, but that will be revealed in more details next week. The features are much better than I could have hoped. Only thing still unsure about is the video quality. Another gem: you know how some players on Twitch use transparent backgrounds while on cam? Kinect will allow this as well (will be in next week’s detailed feature list).
They really went all in. Glad that the delay is going to be worth it.
Really, even if people hated Titanfall, they gotta appreciate the fact that the game is forcing all these UI/app updates just because of it’s upcoming release.
Messed around with the UI preview. Besides the stuff in the video above, here’s what I’ve noticed.
Ahead of the upcoming Twitch integration, home screen now tells you if any of your friends are broadcasting. Activity feed now shows things you’ve done recently and not just your friends. There’s changes in the settings menu: Dolby Digital support is now in the Display/Sound options. In the Power/Startup options, “Resume games quickly” is no longer beta and is turned on by default. In Kinect settings there’s a new option: “Turn hand cursor off while watching video.” Has better access to voice/gesture tutorials. There’s an “Update Controller” option in System settings, which will update the controller’s firmware if you have the usb cable for it (I’ll try this later).
Everything else is mostly untouched. I figure the next update in April will focus on improvements to notifications.
Edit: They stopped streaming. But yeah, the video quality is solid and is fullscreen. Video feed from Kinect is also good (should be since the camera is 1080p) and the window can be moved to any of the four corners on screen. I’m sure they’ll do more test runs in the coming days.
Well Titanfall is coming out the day before my bday and I like robots, so ill probably end up buying it in the end. Fulgore is most likely arriving around the same time so ill have lots of robots to play with.
Yeah, it comes out 4 days before my birthday…I guess I’ll treat myself even though I dont think an MP only game is worht 60 bucks. It was fun though and I dont buy games a full price often.
That’s actually really good. I don’t follow streams myself, but I do remember the few Killzone SF ones I checked out looking like shit (in general, not even in comparison).
EDIT: Checked out some active streams of Rayman & FIFA on PS4, & it’s definitely of lower-quality. If the final app turns out to be as good, I could see Xbox easily becoming the preferred platform for out-of-the-box livestreaming.
Yeah I figured there would be an emphasis on quality and features if they were making us wait till now to stream live. Hopefully the game can still be played full screen while youre streaming and you dont have to be letter boxed with the app on the side. Having the kinect work as a camera I figured was something they wanted to intergrate also. If its as smooth as I hope itll save me a lot of money on streaming equipment.
Surprised to see not much whining about 792p Titanfall on the One. 60 frames is the priority I guess.
You can unsnap Twitch while broadcasting. It’s mainly just there to read chat, but that’s going to be integrated into Smartglass too.
There’s so many rumors right now about Titanfall’s res. Respawn have said all along they were pushing to have 900p in the finished game. Then some insider (who’s been right about things in the past) came out about a 1080p patch coming after launch, which threw people on sites into a frenzy.
Not quite as huge a bombshell as it could’ve been as it doesn’t stack on top of free Titanfall. I would imagine it’s being done as an alternative to buying a bundled M-rated game more than anything else.
Twitch breaks my console when I try to broadcast, not to mention it doesn’t actually work either. Anyone else experiencing this? If I try to broadcast in which it tests the internet and then just goes back to the start broadcast screen. Then if I try to open anything after nothing opens it just hangs. Home screen works okay and the game I had running originally but nothing else. Then the console doesn’t turn off properly, the light flashes and then goes solid again after and nothing is displayed on screen. When I turn it back on, the xbox resumes all fucked up just showing a black screen with the stop listening part at the top right and the big window that shows what you had running, nothing else and no response to anything.
I’ve done a factory reset in hopes it’d sort it but no luck.
