The NEW Official Xbox® Thread: $399 system without Kinect coming in June

Program still only applies to 360 for now. Might be old games, but free is free.

I figured that would happen, it takes a huge bite out of Sony, doesn’t really cost them anything directly (and can earn money via DLC) and M$ is trying to keep pushing the 360.

Let’s be real - the games that they offer are laughable at best. Even Sony gets a hard time for giving away games that came out in the same year. The games that GfG provides are almost insulting.

I hope it changes, but as of right now, it’s nothing more than a, “me too, me too” kind of move on their part. They’re free games, which is hard to hate on, but… it’s almost like they specifically select shit that they know nobody wants. I’d love for it to be on-par with the selection of PS+, or even surpass it. I’d consider signing back up to the service just for the ‘free’ games.

Yay for getting more games I already owned five years ago for free.

I didn’t want to play those shit games when the 360 came out, i dont think i want to play those on my next gen system…What would be awesome is to be able to play some of the Live arcade games again. I wouldn’t mind re-purchasing SF2HDremix…

Don’t care for free games.

Wait…have you been trolling us all this time?

Dead serious. The free games people usually refer to are the ones that are hand me down after a newer version of the game comes out or long after the company is able to make a real profit on the game’s sales anymore. That’s not bad, but if the game was good or something that was really for me, I’d be fine with just spending the money on it. It’s just not a concept I personally care for or will sway me towards buying a system. I’d rather just pay the money for something people are working on that I feel is quality than be given stuff down the road and feel great that it’s free blah blah and the other.

Most of the games I have been buying lately are cheap, digital titles any ways and there’s not much incentive for those games to be free since you can get them for…not a lot of money. If you put the correct effort into it, I’ll pay the money for it. Long as it has value and entertainment for me I’m not worried about getting freebies on the game. I’m not somebody that goes spending money on 10 big budget titles in 6 months where needing these free games to pad up my library is necessary.

I played a total of 5 different games for the last 5 or 6 years and those games I paid for and got my money’s worth. Only 2 of them (SFIV and UMVC3) were non digital titles that I had to spend the typical 60 dollars on. Now that Xbox One is looking to have a stronger set of exclusive games, there may be a few more 60 dollars I throw around, but I’m not actively looking for free games like other people do. If it’s a new, free game it will most likely cost money for some of its content down the road any way. If it’s good and costs 60 dollars, I’ll take it too. I don’t care what the price of the game is, just make it worth the money that you supposedly need (or don’t need) for it.

I believe he’s giving you a hard time cuz your excited for Killer Instinct, which is an F2P game (Unless somethings changed i am unaware of.)

I have 0 hype for any next-gen console.

Shit’s underwhelming this time around. Nothing shown so far has had “innovating, new gameplay mechanics.” It’s the same old shit we’ve been experiencing the past two generations with sexier textures and spiffier effects. Gonna just stick with my PC for now until one of the two consoles gaming library starts to actually look appealing enough for me to purchase one.

I think with the rate PC has been getting exclusives and third-party support(especially the past couple of years) that I might be able to ride out the entire next-gen with my current-gen consoles, handhelds and PC. Only thing that would sway me would be a bunch of PS4 exclusives or something that couldn’t be played anywhere else. Yakuza/Ninja Gaiden level of God-tier game releases.

Killer Instinct should be enough reason to buy xbox one.

not for most people.

Was for me. Huge fan of the old game and it’s taking fighting games in a direction they should have been going in for a long time. Only game that’s come close is Skullgirls and it just didn’t have the funding or first impression catch to get things going like it should have. A fighting game that is constantly available for more content instead of making semi sequels and giving us balance changes we don’t really need looks like the right move. There’ll most likely be some people who don’t even have Xbox Ones who just come out to regularly play in tournaments for the game until they get the change to pick one up. It’s also not surprising that Evo has basically adopted Xbox as the main system now. KI is most likely getting a free year at Evo just on that. If the turnout is big it will become one of the yearly staples.

Past that, Dead Rising 3, Forza 5 and Crimson Dragon look more interesting to me than anything on the PS4 on launch outside of Killzone. I can pass on that since it will probably be flavor of the month FPS at best. Titanfall looks to be the first FPS that takes the genre by storm again and it will definitely get some people to buy Ones. PS4 guys and others will probably pick up the PC version, but since playing on a controller seems to be the standard these days, most likely just going to see a lot of people adopt the One version and it will stay a staple of that system.

Quantum Break (old Max Payne devs) and Sunset Overdrive look like sleeper hits also.

Figured it should be in both the PS4 and Xbone threads.Youtube only shows 30 FPS lol.

Nothing new. For fighting gamers 60 FPS is always going to take precedence over more graphical effects.

Hey you guize…

Can you change the buttons if you get the full game of Phantom Breaker?

I got 20 dollars in points.

Thinking of getting one of the following:

Phantom Breaker
TMNT OOT
Ducktales
Turd Strike + System directions

Plus Sonic Adventure 1.

If PB buttons can be changed, probably get that over the others,

what i dont understand is why most of you guys who actually owned a 360 and know just how shitty ms hardware is are still willing to invest money in a new system by ms. you would think that once white people come to your country, slave your people, whip you upp good on cotton plantation fields and fuck you over, you would get smarter the next time a white man with a whipp is tryng to bs you into buying their new system. NOBODY i know that has owned a 360 is even thinking about buying a shitboxdone. they like, yeah we been fooled, twice and thrice, but i wont be fooled again, lol. im just glad to see its the same small group of people in this thread dumb enough to spend money on a ms machine. i hope you guys don trick others like you have been tricked, tricks.

Why do you care what people buy with their money?

I ended up buying 4 Xbox 360s last gen, only one of them gave me problems & that was the launch system that gave me constant freezing on certain games. I still have 3 that still works fine with no problems.

I bought 2 ps3s, the 1st one was the launch PS3. I only maybe played it a total of 80hrs out of the 6 years & the bluray drive stop working. I ended up getting a knew slim version & also getting the old one fixed.

To be honest both the PS3 & 360 games were shitty as hell. If it weren’t for Hyper Fighting & SF2 HDR i could have gone without this gen consoles.

God knows why this guy is relating Microsoft to slavery, but I won’t get into that.

Obvious trolling aside, I’ve never felt dicked by Microsoft. I bought a replacement plan for a 360 elite system and it didn’t die on me till after the replacement plan was voided. Which then meant I had to turn to warranty and apparently Microsoft had a 3 year refurbish waranty on the system. Very pleased with that and other than the fan being really loud, it works well.

The two biggest fighting games in the FGC are preferred to be played on Xbox so at least in the fighting game community, they’re not going anywhere anytime soon. I know people who have 360s and PS3s that are getting an Xbox One. I know people that are spending 800 dollars (including myself) just to buy Killer Instinct. Which even then, the console exclusives for the near future are looking better on the One and I usually don’t play anything but fighting games.

PS4 doesn’t have what I want right now so not getting it. Don’t like Nintendo, not getting that. Not sure what’s difficult to understand past that.
