The NEW Official Arcade Stick Art Thread NO IMAGE QUOTING!

Just finished my new trunks art, I think its my best work yet. I put a lot of effort into it, please give me suggestions on how to make it better!

Looks great. Personally, I feel that the white borders could have been something else.

make the dragonballs smaller and add stars to them.

Because their logo is very easy to work with… and… why not? They’re the reason 90% of us are even aware of fighting games in the first place.

Thanks for advices ! I think I’m gonna add one more character and remove the aura.

Can barely even see the text really.

Now don’t get me wrong you’ve done a pretty good job on it I’m just saying it looks wrong.

Now for instance notice how there really aren’t very big pieces displaced?
In your design you would take piece out and they would be off to the side. And they just look a little weird in a side by side. That might just be because you have that gray around them that they seem larger than they are.
When you look at it up close they look like big pieces out there but when you get to the actual size as it would be viewed by someone it looks much smaller.
Another thing is that tail on the D, think of all the letters like big Times New Roman capital letters. There’s no excess it’s just there.
The professional design done by Naughty Dog artists also makes it feel like it was something unearthed. Like this logo had been laying in the ground for years and parts had eroded away.
Yours while still close to the design as a whole just feels fake. And I know that’s the whole idea is that you’re recreating this from scratch, however it just doesn’t feel the same.

Now I’m a huge uncharted fan so I may be just getting nerding out. But that’s why I feel it just doesn’t look the same. Take this how you see fit. I’m not calling you names, I’m not in any way trying to imply anything about the way you go about things. I’ve seen your work and you could probably recreate it very accurately so best of luck to you.

ended up landing on this yesterday for the final design.

bhjnm,

finished design… yeah, it’s mostly just copy paste…

I tried to make the text as subtle as possible. I added the “without text” because I thought the text didn’t feel right in the artwork, so if anyone preferred the one with the text; I put both.

Ok so I did a test print on my Hori VX SA art:

And it came out soooooooooooo dark:

So dark?

I’ve got to make it look less dark… although there’s really good detail, its is dificult to see if you don’t have your nose pressed up against the plexi lol. I’ll try a few more things but… any ideas?

I personally think it’s better now, what do you guys think ?

I’m not even sure if the effects around the buttons will be visible.

lars’ electricity should be white with a red glow.and yeah. that whole template is too dark. the design is okay but everything looks murky, and contrasts too much with the bright and colorful characters. also jin is in the background but is larger than the other characters.

also, you can give their heads some breathing room on the top of this image, it looks crowded.

Okay, here’s a mockup of my back template. I’m still going to redo the move list so I can get some different colors in there and create it at a higher resolution.

The text for the name will change and that messy background design will change too. I will be using the character art though. I’m just trying to find a good placement for everything.

And I know how to cut out button holes once the artwork is printed, but what kind of tools does everyone use to cut out screw holes since they’re so tiny?

i dont cut them personally, i just use an exacto knife to put a cross shaped cut in them and insert the screw. sometimes, i dont even do that.

Yeah there’s two methods I use, if you got a plexi, use an exacto knife and the plexi as a guide. If it’s a decal, apply and just run the exacto along the holes for a smooth cut because metal blade on metal will not damage each other(plus it should be cutting smoothly like butter so the sharp edge is going along the outline, not into it).

It looks it’s really stretched.

The whole template mockup or the character?

If it’s the character, then this is the largest resolution I could find. :frowning:

I’ve looked everywhere I could think of and can’t find anything larger. I really want to use that image though.

Is there anything to do besides holding down shift while using free transform on the image?

And thanks for the help with the screw methods, syn13 and Drop One.

Yeah it’s stretched. Delete the image on your template and redo the sizing.

Hold+Shift when you resize an image. Also have your mouse cursor resize from the corner as opposed to the sides. This way you keep things in proportion with little effort.

Stretched vertically squashed horizontally like hell makes me puke! LOL
