The NEW Official Arcade Stick Art Thread NO IMAGE QUOTING!

Google street fighter x tekken and in the search criteria change the image size to larger than 2mb. You should get different search results with high res png images of the chars.

Here is an update to the Stick Art I posted earlier. I used to race Motorcross so I’m obsessed with sponsor stickers and the like… So the “Tacky logos” are staying :stuck_out_tongue:

Looks great. If you’re using clear buttons, I would suggest you leave the white back to the original color it was or if you plan on putting what D3V did on his Morrigan template, he got black pictures of Morrigan doing a standing light, blade kick, shadow blade, etc.

What about clear buttons?

You think those pics would show through the Green Translucent Sanwas? Im locked into those, the lime bubbletop and Buttons have been shipped a few days now.

I have 6 Clear buttons and 2 blue transluscent buttons for my Chun-li stick and the blue buttons show the art below very well. Mine are Seimitsu clears but I’m pretty sure clear sanwa’s would be the case. If you’re curious, you could always put a test picture under your sanwa buttons once they come to your door and see if it does show.

I appreciate it Donkey, Thanks for the help and kind Words. I think its time to run some sets…all this work to mod my stick has stopped me from using it!

My VAS-22 design of Power Girl…

Okay, I know it’s been done, but I wanted to try it:

Feedback please! (Edit: Updated with V2)

Yeah anytime. Can’t wait to see the final product :)!

that’s actually what i was thinking about using when i created it

Unfortunately even with clears the button rims are going to cut off most of kens face. You really should never have a button on a focal point like a characters face, even with clear buttons.

at some point I or someone else (READ: someone else preferably) should really make a DOs and DON’Ts post to try and address things like that.

i like this, but it’s vibrant as shit. its going to look quite a bit different if you convert it to CYMK so put that into consideration when printing. (or if you have a printer that can work in RGB you’ll be alright)

I had a request from one of my friends, to make a stick design with Ryu, Yoshimitsu and Cole Mcgrath

I find it impossible to mix different art styles and make it look good. =(

When it comes to making a custom art for a stick its not as cut and dry as do and don’ts there are ideas and suggestions. Everyone’s style is different and unique and that what make a design great.
With that said i would move ken since him and ryu are the main focus of that template now that might be a difficult task since that is all one pic so my suggestion is look for 2 new pics of ryu and ken that you are happy with then cut them out and paste then on a nice open area of the template if you wish you could still use the picture you have there as a background ( maby faded with some texture ) and move ken so you can at least see his eyes.

At this point you might have to just go with stock/promotional photos from Street fighter X Tekken. I myself normally wouldn’t go that route cause pictures like that are used to death and take some of the uniqueness away but in this situation it might be the best bet to get the synergy you want. Try playing around with some screen shots from the game like from the prologue scenes or from the win quote scenes.

One thing to consider is trying to get all the pictures to a general color scheme. Maybe making them black and white will help

that’s only partially true. there are things that people don’t consider when first staring out with designing arcade sticks. like the differences between CYMK and RGB or the fact that clear buttons aren’t the ultimate answer for positioning issues.
alot of the same types of issues keep coming up and they should be addressed for the good of the people designing stuff in this thread.

what I hate seeing is the excuse that “oh well he likes it that way so it’s good”

People like crappy B movies but it doesn’t mean they’re well made…

A little off topic, but has anyone tried printing from Staples Copy and Print online? My art got printed a bit too small. Not sure how to get it printed the right size.

Well that depends on who the person is thats liking it. If the person that the stick is designed for likes it then that’s all that really matters. If they are happy with the art and the layout then there ya go. Iv seen alot of sticks that are simply a wallpaper re-sized onto a template now i personally would not go that route cause in my opinion it takes away from the uniqueness of a design but if the person that has the art on there stick loves it then i say more power to ya and grats on your beautiful stick. Now what we can do on here is suggest what they could do to to make there template really pop or help give it that unique look. When it all comes down to is if you are very happy with the end product then you have made the perfect template
