Alright I’m wrong now? Guess nobody in Cincy plays Namco games. Don’t know where I got that idea.
Point is we’re not playing the same games. Illuminaudi’s a great central location for Cincy and Dayton, but there’s really no point in either community driving that far if nobody feels like diversifying. Also I don’t see any interest from Cincy in trying to get out there. Seems like they already got plenty of good places to play, so even if Dayton did feel like playing something different, it might take some doing to get Cincy to come out.

Cool. Were you teaching english there? I assume that’s what most people do when they go for an extended period of time.
I have around 6 friends that are all teaching english in various parts of japan, it’s pretty cool. I plan on visiting at least one or two of them sometime but bills are piling up and that kind of puts a hold on things.

Ha cincy plays namco or somethin… Well Im more diverse than that. I have damn near every fighting game that most of the people on here play…except for those modded games. I’m not that good in Guilty Gear but I got em to practice in. I wouldnt mind learning how to really play it though. I get down in Namco, Capcom, SNK, whatever. My home is called Gamestop by the cincy players for a reason. I cant wait to buy that Cory in the House so I can practice doing them Cory infinites.
LOL the Dayton family think all Cincy plays is Namco games. Sure we play Namco games but Cincy is also the home of Diego (who only dabbles in Tekken), Derrick who plays anything (and plays anything well I might add), Kyle G (who only dabbles in SC), Brendan (who is also a good 3S player), Mike South (who wouldn’t touch a Namco game if his life depended on it), Keith (who does not do 3D either but is a beast in every other game I have seen him play), Luke, Codes (both non 3D players, great in the games they do play) and the aforementioned Darius.
Add to the fact that ETG now plays SF IV and Sluch plays HD Remix and I play KOF and SF IV I would think that was a sweeping generalization.
It is kinda like me saying Dayton only play 3S and not knowing the full story behind a scene… but that would be kinda rude wouldn’t it?

First of all, I was the only one that said that while the rest of Dayton lol’ed at me. Second I know most of the people you mentioned and I know they don’t play Namco games, I was just saying there is a large group of you that does. Third, I don’t know if that would be rude or not, but I know that everybody would know what you meant and probably wouldn’t lol at you for saying so. I mean, I did also make the statement that Dayton plays 3S and NOBODY has said a word about that even though not every single person mains that game…
Mario, good news. Maybe I can gateway drug you into Guilty Gear from there. I’ll probably be getting kof as well.
Well, Dayton plays a multitude of games, but if you look at the last 10 pages of our thread, you’d think we only played Guilty Gear 
. That being said, playing a multitude of games isn’t saying much when there’s only 10 or so people in Dayton, and 5 that post here regularly.

Personally I have nothing against you and I have nothing against the Dayton family. I have good ties with Josiah, Quen, Quan, Kam and others.
I just saw no humor in making a sweeping generalization about a scene you are not even a part of.
My last statement was not intened to be anything other then me plainly stating, that I would not say that about Dayton because 1) I am not a part of the scene so I do not know what you guys are playing all the time and 2) I respect what games you choose to play.
BTW people who read this and my above statement, don’t get it twisted. I am not getting upset at all, I just felt something needed to be said.

As for the minor misunderstanding above, as long as we all don’t look or dress like Guilty Gear characters we should all get along.

I can see where u guys are coming from when Dayton thinks that all we do in Cincy is play 3D games. However, nowadays I think that’s not the case @ all. In fact, it’s probably the opposite & we’re more 2D now than ever if u think about it & if u want me 2 throw in my honest opinion.
As u know, Cincy does love it’s Tekken & we have a nice following of it, but only about 5 or 6 of us play it on a consistent basis these days (Phil, Dave, Brandon, Derrick, myself, & give or take a few others). A lot more ppl in Cincy do play Tekken than just us, but I think the players that just casually play the game will get more in2 it & have the Tekken scene revive here once T6 comes out on console.
As far as Soul Calibur is concerned, there’s only 3 or 4 of us that seriously play (Kris, Derrick, myself, & that Lopedo dude, but I really don’t count him since he never meets up w/ us 2 play). Rather than that & just a few other ppl casually playing the game, Soul Cal is not a happening game here in Cincy.
Primarily everyone is now playing 2D games here in Cincy stronger than ever from the past few years that I look back. SF4, MVC2, along w/ some CVS2 & HDRemix is what is being played the most from my personal experience of getting everyone together in our gatherings. Tekken is still being played pretty well & Soul Cal every now & then, but rather than that, it’s 2D that’s being played the most 4 sure here in Cincy. Plus, once July rolls around, A LOT of ppl here will be getting in2 KOF & Blazblue, so 3D will be taking a back-seat for a few months probably until T6 comes out on console in October.
That’s just my two cents on this topic @ hand. Since there seemed 2 be some confusion about the matter of what Cincy plays, I just busted out the facts of what happens here in Cincy along w/ some projections on my part so everyone knows what we actually play & what may happen in the Cincy scene for the few months ahead. Damn! I just realized I used more of my skills as a historian on this thread than I do @ my job. :lol:
I was also giving u guys (Dayton peeps) a heads up that I’m off work on Friday & I was wondering if u guys wanted 2 get something together like @ WSU or whatever. Just post back up & let me know what u think. :tup:

Alright, well, I’m sorry if I flew off the handle. I like Cincy guys too, and I certainly didn’t mean any disrespect to any of your games as I play pretty much anything. I personally wouldn’t take offense if someone from Iowa or Cancun wanted to make a generalization about what games Dayton plays, but I’m sure I would correct them if they were way off base. I just get a little mad when people start telling me something I already know.
BUT WAIT! Back when we were trying to find out who would be in the 5v5 3S match before TvU, people from outside Cincy straight up said nobody in Cincy was playing that game anymore and we should just give that spot to Josh Queen. Now it happened to be true, but it was still a general statement about the whole community that we weren’t a part of and nobody said anything. In fact, you guys agreed with us.
Now let’s go back to what I said: ‘Cincy plays Namco games.’ Is this untrue? I never said “only.” I know you guys play other games. I was just trying to illustrate that we don’t play the same games.
Drago maybe you don’t remember me, but I’ve met you and I know you’re cool. I’ve met and am friends with most of the Cincy players. If I’ve insulted you guys by saying you’re Namco players, then I’ve insulted Dayton by saying they’re 3S players. I just don’t see how I’m out of line here.
Also, maybe it’s just that you’ve only met me a couple times, but it’s not like I’m new to the scene, and I consider Cincy and Dayton as an extended community as evidenced by some of you guys driving up to WSU to hang with us on occasion and some of us driving down to Keith’s house on occasion. As such, I hope you don’t look at me as just some outsider that has no idea what you guys are about.
Let’s say you got a friend coming to Dayton from out of state for work or something, and he’s a 3S player. I hope you tell him to come and play us instead of saying “well, there are some fighting game players in Dayton, but as a part of the Cincinnati community, I’m not authorized to tell you whether or not they play 3S.” I know I’d direct a friend to you guys if he was playing any of your games.
Anyway, I know I’m making a big deal of this or whatever, but I really need to know why I’m in the wrong here so I can stay away from it in the future.
Edit: AHH! SLUCH! You cool man. Again, I don’t think anyone was ever under the impression that 3d was all you do, but now I do have a more accurate picture of what you guys are up to. Thanks. That said, this friday I’m at WSU and you guys can decide to play there if you want, but I’m more interested in finding out if anyone wants to meet up at Illuminaudi kinda regularly.
