I was going to buy it but heard mixed reactions on the film, I can wait.
The fight choreography was decent and had its moments.
And the rest of the movie was just awesome. Very underrated, entertaining, good quality flick with awesome characters, presentation, and visual style. Sad to see it undermined by lame reviews.
Edit: Only problem i really had was i did NOT like the way the last two fights ended. That was awfully senseless and stupid.
If you have netflix its on there. Just give it 20 minutes and you’ll be hooked.
Yeah that guy was an epic badass! A main villian couldn’t ask for a better enforcer to go around whooping ass and spreading fear in his name.

Yeah it was good for a movie but not a fight flick. It was more close to a musical which makes you all gay.

And yeah, movie is awesome and didn’t get a fair shake. Though it has no excuses for the lazy conclusion of the last two fights. Was really curious to see the Wood Cutter’s fighting style and why he was so badass(besides being Ron Pealmen), but that sadly did not happen.

yeah, i’ve seen it. although, you’re right. it’s not a MA movie with wall to wall action (which it isn’t trying to be either). however, the movie is like an episode from the tv show Kung-Fu (ie:lots of pseudo-eastern philosophical bullshit interspersed with a little violence). i’d give it 2 stars at best. also, bruce lee was long dead when this movie was released and any influence he had on the final product was obviously nil.
Not really, because some actors just have that stage presence compared to everyone else…Ip Man The New beginning with Dennis just had amazing fight choreography, but i think if you put Donnie Yen in that role, movie would have been even better. Dennis as great as a MA his acting skill/charisma is lacking…He’s still young & im sure in time he will be able to command film more, a great example is Jackie Wu. When he did his debut film Tai Chi II, guy is amazing on screen fighter but his acting was just horrible & was big turn off…S.P.L & Legendary Assassin showed he has really grown as an actor…Or take Leung Kar Yung a.k.a Beardy, he had zero martial arts training but you would have never have guessed with his amazing career…

Black Mask? Really? I’ve only watched it once & i really didnt care for it back then when it first got release…It maybe my copy of my VHS tape, i might re-watched it if its available on DVD.
