I’d put Mai as Leader as a B+, without Leader a B. I did use Geese as Leader in one of my matches as Leader I thought I did.it was either at Absolute Battle or vs. MightyMar in the match sets…

Anyway I recorded some matches the other day with my jazu, Silber, Vanessa Team.
I can link them here if anyone is interested in watching…or if you’re not, that’s fine too I guess. 
nice looking forward to more vids… and the reason i said maybe use geese or something is because i’m sick of seeing KGO and Duo, Eiji or Duck… i would like to see someone win a tourny with maybe other random characters… like freaken shingo or momoko or some other stupid characters… cause i believe a true top player doesn’t need to rely on top-tier characters to win… and i have proof …maybe not for kof but i have friends that won tournaments in soul calibur and tekken using crap ass characters, more than once…
Not gonna happen. This is KOF. You pretty see the same handful of characters over and over and over and over and over.
That’s why I’ve been losing interest in matches. You don’t see anything truly outstanding anymore. “High level play” gets boring when it’s the same characters a million times over. It’s just: “Hey, here’s some nice matches featuring good, solid gameplay.” No more “Wow, this player is amazing.” Just standard solid play with the same characters. I have yet to see a truly amazing Kula. They all look the same.

maybe because i’m new to kof xi, i find the matches awesome but it’s true that gato,kula and oswald are still there.
i prefer watching other chars (for ex. kyo, adhel (i love how they are used on the videos i linked),etcc) than the s+ tiers…

I understand. In casuals I’ll play just about anyone. But anyone are not my best characters…so in a tournament you go with your best characters…which for me right now is KGD…BUT…I am developing quite a few reliable backups that I cannot reveal at this time…
This is true…hence I dont get the Asian bias…they all from a tournament player standpoint to me LOOK THE SAME… But with that said I know better than to judge a players skill off tournament matches alone…

I think you need to look at games by a case-by-case basis. You can’t say because I saw a low tier character stand evenly in another game, it will work for this one. I use to say that same stuff about Marvel. But when people start abusing that unfly/fly lockdown shit, cheese damage with HSF and hail not to mention the 8-way airdashes and IADs only the God tier has it becomes unmanagable. If its so goddamn fair why it is no low tier team (I mean really low tier, no Blackheart/doom/Cyc) has ever ranked, let alone won at EVO? Yeah, its a extreme example but all fighters are not created equal.
At the time those matches happened, the general rule was all bosses and console characters were banned. Shion for whatever reason was allowed along with the console characters in that tournament. However today Shion is still banned.
Arrange mode wasn’t the setting in the arcade. Remember, lots of people are anal about “the arcade experience” settings. People wanted to have exactly like what you would find in the arcade.
From what I’ve read arrange mode is more balanced but no one cares for it anyway. I don’t remember all the changes but I think K’ can’t do cr.D>LDM in arrange. Not a big deal since no K’ player has pulled that off anyway.

But srsly, I mean we’re pretty sensible I’d like to say; I don’t see why not give it a shot. We always complain (and for good reason) how the S-tier characters are overused but yet people won’t give arrange mode a shot to see what’s up. Well I suppose maybe its too late now, but seeing as we had that thread where we recently just voted to have console characters I don’t see why not…

but yeah high level KOF play usually ends up putting me to sleep as well, no disrespect towards the players but it pretty much always waters down to them using the same (high tier) characters over and over again whether it’s 98, 2K2, or the UM’s, granted that you’ll see some variety in tournaments but they usually get dealt with very quickly, what’s the point of having 40+ characters if only 1/8 of them are tourney viable?..
Yeah, its what really burns me up about Marvel. Love the system, love how there’s so many choices and ways to do what you want…however God-tier and Top-tier destroy that. Low tier is just too limited in that game and it makes no sense why. For example I play Morrigan, she takes like 135% damage (a lot) has a limited air dash, has extremely pitiful damage without an assist while Mags has FLIGHT, 8-WAY airdash, more zoning, a reliable infinite, takes 105% damage (about normal) and has the fastest lk in the game. Does that make ANY sense? 
I bring this up because I have heard people make the same arguments about KOFXI as Marvel, “The game is balanced because the Top tiers are balanced amongst themselves”. No the game is not balanced because they aren’t the only characters in the game. There are more and one can’t just invalidate them for argument by pretending they are not there. Which is why I am interested in Arrange mode. Its not like many people use arcade boards that much these days in anycase.

Thanks for posting the vids, your Silber and Jyazu are pretty solid and they’ll get better over time, as for Vanessa it seems like you got the right idea but it could still use some improvement, try to work her air CD/E into your strategy as it’s a pretty damn good move, her ground CD/E attack is more for specific situations like okizeme or a well-ranged but slow poke…
Anyway I’d say out of those 6 vids your Vanessa was at it’s best in this one because you did a nice cross-up along with a couple good AA’s

Oh no, you hit it right on the money; I also think my Vanessa is the weakest of all my characters. Sometimes I just don’t know what to do with her. I’ll keep practicing; she just needs more time. I keep switching back out for Iori, but that day I decided to stick with it and try to get better…
