You’re both kinda missing the point if you expected Raoh to be just yet another generic anime end-boss, who basically is utterly two (or even ONE) dimensional. You want that kind of crap? That’s what DBZ is for…you don’t watch that, expecting to see the likes of Cell and Freeza start to cry because they’re actually much more complex characters than just “brutal and ruthless conqueror #50 and #51”.
But HnK was designed, from the get-go, as being a tragic story. Everyone, from the hero, his beau, Yuria, to the big name villains like Raoh, are all subject to that attribute. That, in my opinion, was what made Raoh a much more charismatic “villain”. He wasn’t another mindless destroyer, and I respected him for that.

True, but then again, the focus of my reply was not as a part of the “Old VAs vs. New VA argument”.
I’ll always prefer the old-school VAs, but I like some of the new VAs too. For instance, the new guy who voices Ken in the game actually does a decent job emulating the Kamiya-style Kenshiro, in my opinion. Meanwhile, the actor for Ken in the Shin HnK OVAs (also is the one behind GG’s Eddie and KOF’s Shingo, for starters) also does a nice job.
Then there’s the guy who does Kasumi Kenshiro for the Souten no Ken (Fist of the Blue Sky anime). Don’t know much about him, but I do know that he was also Spike Speigel in the Japanese version of Cowboy Bebop. And since that Kasumi Kenshiro/EN-OH is a different guy all together, it’s all the more easier to accept a new seiyuu, in my opinion…
Speaking of Souten no Ken…I could easily see another fighting game starring the best from that series, as well. Or at least, they could pull a “Holy Order Sol” type of a deal and put in EN-OH as a “new character”… :wgrin:
