The New Fist of the Star/Hokuto no Ken thread

Cant wait to play this game when it comes out on PS2. Gonna try out Raoh, Jagi, and Rei right away.

Whoever’s been practicing HnK combos on their joysticks raise your hand.

raises hand to the fucking sky

I’M READY! But really, is practicing combos by watching/mimicing them a good way to get a head start?

some sort , learning combos is a good basic start . later , get them to practice their own mix ups .

MMMEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

Except I practice on loose as fuck jap sticks:sad:

Im ready to bring my Jesus Juda on whom ever wants a challenge:nunchuck:

You guys better start practicing this game!!!

That’s what I’ve been doing. Try not to restrict yourself to combo movies; match videos are an excellent way to learn mix-ups and such for the character of your choice, as well as how to counter certain characters. In the end, of course, you still have to try this stuff first-hand to get the timing and such down.

Kenshiro awaits :smokin:

Pre-ordered mine last week.

Its a decent way to practice I guess, but for myself actually sitting down with the game was a whole different experience from the impressions I got from watching match videos. The timing is so much tighter than it looks for damn near every combo.

I found this on Gamefaqs, so take it with a grain of salt:

For real though I’ll smash on ya’ll niggas

WTF…!? They should make HnK 2 with more chars from both series.

imagine this …
**
TEIYA!! LOOP **( dust loop ) VS AAAGH CHAR !! LOOP ( ken’s dash punch loop )

Pretty sure the GG characters thing was bullshit, it was last time it was brought up.

Couldn’t sammy just make GuiltyGear vs Hokuto no Ken?Shit, just add tag mode and I’ll get that shit!

I’d rather they make Sammy vs SNK, since at least then they already have the high-res sprites for most of the characters.

HnK vs JoJo’s is really the only VS game I could see fitting properly.

Anyway …

The PS2 release of the game comes with a bonus disk with a bunch of stuff on it, like some of the older HnK games, and a beginners guide to the game. The game also has a gallery mode among all of the other things.

So yeah, it’ll be a pretty full featured release.

I think I just crapped my pants:bgrin:

It’s just such a shame that 97% of the past HnK games that were made over the course over the last 2 decades pretty much all suck. The only good ones I can think of are like Punchmania, the 3D PSX game, and, of course, this game.

I also have a soft spot for what we know as “Last Battle” for the Genesis, but I acknowledge that the title was pretty bad too.

Still, while this is good stuff…they still ain’t come out the gate with what we could REALLY want to know…fixes? new chars? new BGs? Something? I guess they’re just to be on “drip-feed” mode for a while… :wgrin:

EDIT:

Just wanted to add this lil blurb that was posted on GFaqs as well…

Its confirmed by Tetsuo Hara in a japanese TV show interview that Arc System wanted to include some chars from GG, but “We (Buronson & Hara) wont let them, simply because Hokuto no Ken is an established franchise and has established characters, it just wont go well together with a different universe of characters”.
The special is called 100-ban Tanoshimu Okugi, which was made largely to advertise and generate hype for the new Gaiden movies, specially Raoh Gaiden Junai-Hen.

If this is indeed true, than I, for one, am glad that Sol and the others won’t be doing any cameos in HnK. I wouldn’t them to be in my HnK game any more than I would Ken and pals to do a cameo in the PS2 port for GG:AC.

Besides, if there should be any character roster additions, it should be from series specific chars, like Jyuuza, Ryuuga, Shuu and/or another evil character, like Amoeba, Wiegel, Jackal (with Devil Rebirth as a back up, like Blodia does for Jin in MvC!) or Colonel Golan.

There’s honestly no telling what is going to happen next. Arc has just Battle Fantasia left as real work. HnK PS2 release is getting close and GG AC is probably getting a revision or PS2 release worked on either right now, or after HnK is released.

^ That much is indeed true.

Ah well…ASW basically has about two months to practically “drip feed” information up until HnK PS2’s release.

Of course, if that Italian magazine actually DID have a bit of truth to it…would that mean we could expect “AllGrownUp!” Bart? It probably wouldn’t be that difficult for ASW to whip up a character model for him, plus his seiyuu is probably available too (he’s also Axl in Guilty Gear).

But isn’t kenshiro’s dash punch more of a ATAAA WAAA (bruce lee) sound???
