The New Fist of the Star/Hokuto no Ken thread

Take this from a noob who uses Rei (me) its because Toki seems more gay than Rei.Or maybe because air projectiles.

Blame Kenshiroā€¦or just watch the Raoh Gaiden Version of when they fight.

Hell yeah he is boring to fight and watch, every player I faced that uses Souther only does his air projectile all day and his specials look lame, also his stage music sucks which makes it even more boring:arazz:

Well, that sounds like you have a lot of oppotunity to show off your combo:rofl: Unless this is the Souther you faced:

Seriously, your opponent is not responsible for making the match entertaining. You want one you have to work on your own.

I wonā€™t be able to play until the ps2 version is released, but I have a question after reading about the game and seeing many vids: how difficult are the combos? Because I read on this same thread that Toki has to do a karacancel to connect some attacks, and Iā€™ve seen many Raoh missing the combo after the feet stab, and some Rei jumping during the air 236C loop , which I suppose would be a failed 236C after the jump cancel.

Can anyone give a general idea about the difficulty of the combos, and maybe compare it to other games?

The combos get pretty complex, Iā€™d compare it to high tier MvC2 stuff. Definitely more difficult than Guilty Gear.

^this is how you can tell when someone doesnt know what they are talkin about.
when you say its more difficult then guilty gear, and then you compare it to high level stuff in mvc2. Mvc2 way easier then guilty gear. The only 2d fighter I know that comes close to guilty gear in doing combos is JoJo. We coo and all, but I want to let you know that.

No, that Souther I wouldnā€™t mind playing against, the Souther players I faced do nothing but Air Projectiles all day and didnā€™t rush down on my character once, I didnā€™t knew you can turtle on this game:arazz:

Yeah, Combos are pretty hard to do in this game, I mean there are some repeating hits, like Raoh and Rei, but you have to do a lot of crazy commands in order to get to those repeating combos, and they have to be timed too!

It takes more skill to learn this game than others, except for VF ofcourse:sweat:

I would say this. it depends on the person. Some ppl learn faster then others.

Overmind I bet if you played on better sticks, you would be able to do the combos yourself. Its not that hard. A.I stick sucks man.

I canā€™t wait till this game hits PS2ā€¦

I have been driving to AI almost every Sat. to play it.

I will be there again tomorrow (Sat.) playing some more.

Souther turtles!!! You must been using Mr. Heart. Even so you could reflect projectile with 214A. For Shin you have 214C, for Rei you have A+C, for Toki you have 214B, Ken has 214A, Mamiya and Raoh can do air projectile with Southerā€¦ A Souther doesnā€™t rush at all simply canā€™t win.

Combo is this game has to do # of hits(gravity), distance and character specific. Very similar to VF in combo theory. Crazy command and timing? Good luck everyone:)

Souther can turtle for a little bit because he can cover a large area. Weā€™ve all seen him throw air projectile and then chuck spears at jumpers. But he canā€™t really keep it up for long ā€¦ too many options to get in in this game. Southerā€™s gotta get in to do any form of real damage for the most part anyway.

Looks likea pretty cool gameā€¦ I might pick it up when it get out on the ps2. The graphics look clean almost like gultygear.

Yes, the A.I. sticks definitely sucks donkey balls:arazz:
This is why I gave up practicing Toki!!

I beginning to do some nice combos with Juda and Mr. Heart though, but yet they donā€™t require much complicated motions.

Yeah, I figured that out about his counter recently, they turlted a lot, but they couldnā€™t beat me once, it was just boring matches!!

Yeah, you have to time hits (gravity) on this game, but I like the challenging combos, makes you play it more to master it:tup:

Superā€™s HnK>AIā€™s HnK

New vids in:

http://page.freett.com/pei2/douga.htm

the third one is insane!!! Hige almost did a glitch with that speed up superā€¦

BTW, anyone has good video converter? The one I got couldnā€™t convert those vids so I couldnā€™t put them on youtube(Youtube cant convert them too)ā€¦

But the huge problem is that their buttons are old KOF style:arazz:

It makes sense for KOF, but HnK is not KOF, so the buttons have to be in their original jap style!!

Since this game will coming to PS2 in March,DA GAME has some questions to ask:

1.Who is a good character to start off with?DA GAME is debating between Ken,Rei & Souther.

2.How is the AI in this game?Is it fair, will it give you a challenge or does it pull any AI exclusive 2-in-1 or special moves like in 3rd Strike?

3.How tough is Raoh as the final boss? What moves does he have that are different from the playable version of Raoh?

 1. Those characters are pretty good to start. I started with Raoh and did some simple combos like d+Bx2, standing D, dp multihit, Dash boost, AC launcher, j. A, j. D, Spike Attack hcb+D, then do whatever after that.

 2. The AI is stupid at times, they run away from you and do random CD attacks, you also tend to take more damage and kill the AI very fast, so you canā€™t practice long chain combos very good, but for PS2 you donā€™t have to worry about that.

 3. Raoh is pretty easy, even when he does the Gill life recover super, he is still very easy, he is named Kenoh and has a new Large Beam super that he can also do in the air.

Deadly magneto uploaded the new vids, here is the Souther vid tianyuan was talking about.

youā€™ll see the potential infinite around the 1:06 mark. It looks like you might be able to go into c.lkā€™s once the speed super ends. Iā€™ll try to test it out later but I have to learn to jump install to even attempt the setup.
