The New E.Honda Match-up Thread!

Noob question, what do yall do against Kens Fiery Dragon punch with Ole E, is the only thing to do block and punish or hope he whiffs?

It’s situational. If your far enough away nj.fierce can stuff it while its going up. On his wakeup you can buttsplash behind him and hit him out of it though you have to watch out as his ultra will hit your buttsplash. The best thing to do is block and punish /w something like c.mk xx hp.hhs, hk. 300 damage for a whiffed srk might make them think before spamming those DP’s though probably not, lol.

when in jump in range you should not neutral jump over sagat’s fireballs since he can forward rh into forward rh into ultra you for it. there is only a specific distance where you can beat this with nj.fp.

vs ryu you should not neutral jump over fireballs if he has super because he can hit you for free with it.

in general, you need to be aggressive but most of this aggression is walking forward and blocking (bulldogging) until you can get into cr.lp xx hhs pressure range. you do this most of the time and occasionally do random guess jump ins when they become too comfortable with throwing fireballs.

another thing you can do to make up space is to back up outside of normal jump in range and then forward jump over a fireball on reaction to make up space. you land too far away to be punished for it, and after you block their inevitable shoto cr.rh, you can punish that with cr.lp xx hhs. the other thing they will often do is jump in on you right after you land, so either look for an anti air hb here or guess nj.fp.
when doing this vs sagat however, you need to be careful because he can kara-srk you for jumping over fireballs from far way (usually you can stick out early j.rh to beat the kara) but his tiger knee can sometimes still hit you too.

you can punish her jump back instant overhead j.rh on hit or block with hb or ultra.
you can reaction counter hit her usual flip kick overhead if they try to abuse it. also you can back dash to make it whiff then punish it.
and as for ex.sbk, yeah you bait them as they are getting up, block it, then ultra for free.

block and punish is the best. you get to take 300 to 500+ life (depending on meter) off of him every time you block this shit.

Word, much obliged for the responses I figured block and punish would be the best option just wasnt sure if there was some secret technique i didnt know about.

I just lost to a blanka who out turtled me in a tournament. Once he got the chip damage, he started running. What is the best strategy against that?

I watched those matches. At the moment I am not sure what to do. I’ll sit in training with a blanka doing ex rainbow. Maybe you can autocorrect a headbutt or ultra on him?

Yep, auto correct super/ultra
it’s actually pretty easy because you can input the :l::r::l: on reaction as he rears back, then press :3p: as right when he crosses you.
To prevent that from happening, I would say stay away from him when he is corner and make him try to blanka ball you. Jab him out of it or punish with ex headbutt when you have it.

and your wake up options are limited…you cant jump in when he is on the ground you have to walk up and buttslam smartly you cannot spam it…your only opponent wake up options are ochio or jab if he doesnt random wake up ball just wait for the blanka to random ultra…they usually do

They streamed my match so when the video comes out, let me know what mistakes I made so they never happen again.

I watched the tournament stream and I remember being furious when I kept seeing c.:lp: hit confirms and no follow up. There is no excuse to do something (xx :hp:HHS, xx SH, tick ochio) after those. Also I don’t remember who it was, but someone did :uf:j.:hk: > cl.:hk: 3 times in a row at the end of a match. I was disappointed to see that much jumping from a serious Honda player. Worst of all is that doing that won the match.

Quick question, I know it’s been mentioned that Honda’s nj RH stuffs Gief’s lariat, but this hasn’t really been working for me, is there a specific timing required? Is it supposed to be used as a safe jump? I’m still losing to lariat when I try this. Thanks.

Look up Mr.SNK vs Jaeron Merc on youtube.

look up neutral jump FP FTMFW

Neu Jmp Fp stuffs lariat clean if spaced well from what ive seen in mr snk’s vid.

quick question vs sagat

when i get in on him and pressure him with hands, is it a good thing too fadc oicho out of hands? i mean, i try it and 9 out of 10 times its successful. I don’t too waste 2 meters for nothing.

hands -> fadc -> oicho seems the best bet

besides pressure hands, u can try buttslams against sagat, it is heavy pressure since he has to block in all directions. he’ll try to fadc, jumpback, crouch, tiger uppercut, you name it, most of the time he’ll eat the buttslam :o)

make sure u don’t do lk buttslam because its not safe, you’ll eat his uppercut or he’ll block it and react.

make sure try to vary ur strategy, buttslam into buttslam, buttslam into oicho, buttslam into ex hb, u get it :o) at the end of match, sagat player will be bitching at you because its unfair. :chat:

when your literally next to him. try NJ hold back FP. it’ll help unless he does green hands cuz he knows… which is also dangerous against st. RH too!

that is the link to my match. let me what not to do the next time around.

I watched that match live, it was painful. In a turtle match like that you really have to low jab hands like there’s no tomorrow. You had so many jabs hit, if you could cancel to hands it would have been a lot of damage and forced Blanka to come at you instead of turtling. Only other big thing I noticed was the lack of punishes on the blocked blanka balls, and him not punishing your headbutts, use them until he shows he’s ready to slide punish.

ya alot of free jump ins but you and the other honda were winning with the jump in combo of HK HK…i’d say your decisions were fine but i’m sure you know better than everyone here you didnt make the most/ take advantage of every punishing opportunity…so work on jab hhs and ex hhs loop and hands into hands and your already doing tons more damage…again i’m not knocking you just saying you are going to get better with those tools alone

Been having trouble as of late with akuma’s keep away game. Any advice?
