That last video I uploaded is a little bit inaccurate. I’ve redone it so that I hit the character now and it triggers the hit spark. It’s definitely more accurate.
I’m getting two frames of lag through HDMI no matter what mode I use. Pretty disheartening. I don’t know if I should buy a VGA cable just to test if the lag is any better… I sold my vga cable a while back because I thought I wouldn’t need it anymore.
If it performs as well as Evo, this is a seriously awesome monitor. Probably perfect for people with home made cabs that aren’t fussed about having the full 32" size.
(Sorry the store is AUD not USD)
It’s by definition not possible with current HD technology.
Speaking of dumb questions, I have one.
I’m planning on picking up a PS3 and a LCD monitor. I realize the Evo monitor is 1080p yet PS3 only outputs at 720… so… be it that the monitor is upscaling, doesn’t that introduce lag? I realize it’s the tournament standard an all but, well, like I said, it’s a retarded question. I guess I don’t really get why getting a 1080 display for a ps3 is ideal.
As for the people asking how to set up the monitors: just set it to game mode. There is no reason to set it to anything else if you’re using it primarily for gaming on a console. DVD playback might be another story though, but I’m not really well enough versed on the image processing of the monitor to tell you.
As far as I can tell the model is brand new. I sure as hell have never seen it before.
Starcade: Upscaling can be a factor but it’s not guarunteed. Technically the 360 upscales too and would add lag, but in either of these cases it’s been determined to not matter due to the scalers being good enough. The word lagless is never really true for this type of technology.
As for the game mode on the monitor… no, it’s just a colour preset. The tests we ran (clone screen and RB2 auto) showed no difference between gamer mode on or off.
However another issue regarding the asus vw246h. I was trying to set the xbox to 1080p but that setting was greyed out. All I got was 720p and 1080i. Anyone know why that would be? It is connected through hdmi. It’s currently set to 720p and it ‘seems’ fine.
Really? If you’d looked up the model # I provided you’d see the native res is 1920x1080. Unless tigerdirect bait and switched I figured it was some other setting.
Just reporting Beatles Rock Band automatic calibration test results for the LG 32LH20. I know some people don’t trust this test so do what you will with this information:
Units are in milliseconds.
PS3 is set to output at 720p.
TV is in “just scan” mode and has all postprocessing options turned off.
So I guess what I’m unclear on then, thus my noobie questions and confusion, is whether the PS3 does the upscaling or the evo monitor?
It wouldn’t be major profits. Most of the TV market doesn’t care. The only niche of the game scene that really need high performance HD are fighting fans. The serious FPS community is on computer anyway.
